I have turned off vibration in the settings but it still vibrated when phone/dial a number. Is there any way to turn this off as well? I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. The lag id horrible compared to typing with the vibrate off

First, can we change the phone to vibrate once instead of twice when receiving an SMS?
Also, is it possible to have the phone turn on its screen briefly when an SMS is received?
I'm talking about while using the native Messages app, not with chompSMS or Handcent.

That works for the ringers, but not notifications. I mainly want to set / unset vibrate for gmail and Google Voice. On my Sprint Katana, when you clicked on the phone number in the call log, you had the choice to edit or append the number. On my Hero, when I press on the phone number, it calls it? Am I missing a step, or not holding the press long enough? I have searched and read as many as come up under a search, but I can't find any that address it from the call log issue.

Is there any way to have the phone numbers formatted using the dash? Why, you ask? Because it's easier to read when you are looking up a phone number to give to someone; and I'm old, so don't laugh at me! GMail's contacts formats them all with a dash, but I can't find a way to make the Hero do so.

I am assuming so by the way the manual is written. I have tried to follow the instructions on page 34 of the manual "adding a number to an entry in People". Step 2 directions do not exist. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?

Bourne to Blog: Negotiating with your Mobile Phone Carrier. I wanted to upgrade to an Android phone, but this would require a "data plan". Some time ago, I was told that since I wanted to keep my plan, I could add unlimited data for an additional $30/month and keep the plan. However, about a month ago, I emailed customer service wanting to do this with the Android phone. They told me can't do this with the Android phone, you'll have to switch to data plan (essentially losing my plan).
So, here's what I did: My dad got me an Android on his "Family Plan" along with my step-mom and step-sister. To add me onto his plan is just an additional $20 per month. So, this made the most economical sense (since I wasn't about to give up my old phone and plan).
I've been trying to find out how to choose which contact phone number to call. I'm talking about if I have a mobile number and home number programed to one name.
I'm sure this is an easy thing to do, I just can't figure it out right now.
Is there a way or a app that allows u to set a time for your phone to turn completley off and back on at a certain time. i could do this on my blackberry and would set it to turn off at night then back on in the morning.

The whole point of having the headset is to not have to look at the phone while driving! The owner's manual of the Hero says it supports hands free profiles, as does my headset(obviously) but there's no voice dial. Unbelievable!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI normally set up call forwarding from my home phone number to my cell phone by speed-dialing a special sting of numbers from my cell phone. Once the computer on the other side answers, the cell phone sends all the correct codes, including the number where I wish my forwarded calls to go.With my newly bought HTC Hero (Sprint), this doesn't seem to work, because the automatically dialed tones are much too fast and too short. I've tried putting a "P" (for pause) between each digit, but it doesn't help.Other cell phones provide way to select between short and long tones, but apparently the Hero does not.Is there a way to slow down the dialing string so that it can be read by the phone company's computer? Obviously, I could manually key in each digit, but that's really not a good solution.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both have Hero's and after the recent updates our phone takes forever to dial a number. It was bad before going to 2.1 but now it's terrible. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.
