View 12 Replies View RelatedFirst, can we change the phone to vibrate once instead of twice when receiving an SMS?
Also, is it possible to have the phone turn on its screen briefly when an SMS is received?
I'm talking about while using the native Messages app, not with chompSMS or Handcent.
I have turned off vibration in the settings but it still vibrated when phone/dial a number. Is there any way to turn this off as well? I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. The lag id horrible compared to typing with the vibrate off
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple way to enable / disable vibrate for the phone / notifications? I tried using the volume rocker, going to vibrate there. That works for the ringers, but not notifications. I mainly want to set / unset vibrate for gmail and Google Voice. I have tried various 3rd party apps like Volume Control / Audio Manager, but nothing seems to work consistently.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone for about 1.5 months now. I have about 70 or so apps. The phone is noticeably slow and lags a lot. Text messaging app crashes from time to time and I have to force close and loose all the texts. Should I upgrade the SD card? I've been reading about rooting the phone and about ROMs but I dont fully comprehend it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy battery charges 2x faster now than before the update last week. Today I when I got off work, my battery was at 30% (lots of usage during and work in a plant). I put my phone on the charger at 5:30 pm. It's now 6:34 pm and my battery is at 98% charged. I'm using the standard charge provided by HTC.
View 3 Replies View Relatedis it possible that by having the phone in charger the battery dies faster? i have notice that when i take my phone of the charger it saids 100% and a minute later it says 99% and the percentage starts dropping from there. why is that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell, I was playing with my phone today and I might have made it a faster in a few minutes. This is what I did Home - Menu -settings - Applications - Manage Applications. In this menu it shows how much memory each program is using (?), not really sure, but if you click on the program you can clear out the cache and also clear the data of the program. I cleared out all of the data and cache from the programs that I dont use (sprint TV, NFL crap, footprints, etc...). It seems like its running faster, might help for people that have been using the phone for a long time and have a build up of data just sitting there doing nothing? Let me know if this works for anyone else!
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to 2.1 it seems my battery is draining faster than on 1.5 and my keyboard is lagging. Anyone else having these problems?
View 16 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my Hero the other day I have noticed a marked decrease in battery life. This started the very next day after updating my hero.
Right now I'm at 41% of battery life left after unplugging from the charger about 9 hours ago. For the past few weeks, I have been around 65%-70% at this time of day, and I'd normally be at about 15%-20% at 10:30 when I go to bed.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar decrease in battery life after the update?
Will battery life be affected if you leave Bluetooth turned on and leave the headset off.Just read leaving GPS on doesn't effect the battery if you are not using an app that uses GPS.Thought this might work for Bluetooth also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIndeed HTC is working on a fix for these issues, but here is what You can do to fix the application in the mean time. I was getting 2 hours "Heavy" (texting, data, wifi, high brightness) use before.I read somewhere that there it is a battery issue caused by the defaul HTC (or android, idk) application. The work around is for sms to something other than the included app as the default action for text messaging. This is accomplished installing another handcent sms or various other apps that you may find by going to the market and searching SMS.After installation go to the contacts list and send a text to a contact.A screen should pop up and ask which messaging app you would like to use. If i does not ask you, then you should go to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> It will take a minute while your phone computes the space taken up by each app.Click Messages> and Tick Clear defaults if it is available. Viola! substantial battery boost and faster charges.you can verify that your phone is now using less power by rebooting then shut of your screen by pressing the end key wait for 1-5 mins mins without touching it now quickly settings> about phone> status all the way at the bottom your phones "Awake Time" (not up time) should be below %40 (mine is between 10-40%) day to day if this is not the case your phone has other issues and I will try my best to help you out
I have also heard that by letting you device go to sleep immidiately after turning it on it enters a weird device state that causes %100 cpu usage. though i cannot confirm this i always flip to the next screen and back a few times and check my twitter and what not to make sure.
Having music junk on the phone does it kill the battery faster? and does it slow down the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to quickly switch between qwerty and phone pad keyboards? For those who know TouchPal, it's just a swipe to switch between the keyboard types/layout.With the Hero, one must select menu and change the keyboard--several actions.Even with Windows Mobile, it only takes two taps.It would even be better if one can set the type of keyboard used based on application or context.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGreetings. Im new to android and have the htc hero. Is there any way to select 'vibrate all'? If i put the ringer on vibrate, it will do so when i get a call but when i get a sms, my phone gives no alert whatsoever. Is there a way to fix this at all?
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow bright do u have ur htc hero my brightness is about half way is this good does it drain the battery faster.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI think I noticed a day or so after it actually started to do it...or not do it, rather.I've checked so many settings. It's set to vibrate in the actual settings. I set it to vibrate in handcent.I even turned on the stock messaging app to see if that would vibrate and nothing. I tried holding down end call to see if it would vibrate and nothing. The only time I've felt it vibrate is when powering on the phone.Anyone have any ideas? If not, is there an easy way to restore to factory defaults?

My older phone is Sidekick 3, the vibrate on that thing is a monster. however the hero is so weak i could never feel anything not even if i place it on my skin of my leg. Vibrate is very important to me. I even wrapped my pant tight so it presses against my skin harder but nope! I'm seriously thinking about sending it back.
were anyone able to feel their phone vibrate? if so what pattern and how do you wear it?
I use handsent as my text app don't know if it could be that but but I will get a text and my phone will vibrate but no ring until I get the phone and slide to unlock ... anyone else having same problem?
ps. Much lagg on keyboard as I'm typing this entry)
I've had the Sprint HTC Hero since Nov 25. 2009 and my vibrate has never worked. I just recently realized it when I used someone else's Hero. I have all the settings to vibrate but it just seems like nothing works. Any idea?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI realize that there isn't really a way to customize the vibrate function with stock functionality. And I realize that Handcent provides such an option (which I loved, for the short time it worked), but Handcent also causes vibrate to stop working almost completely in the phone (except for calls) even after being uninstalled. So Handcent is no option. Quite surprising actually, that they'd have such a fatal bug in the program. You always know when it happens to. You go to send a text (after some undefined amount of successful texts), and suddenly the phone reboots as you're sending. At that point, vibrate has stopped working for pretty much everything except calls. Anyway... my question is whether there's any other app out there to either customize the whole vibrate function, or at least customize it for texts. I did a search and couldn't find much information on the subject (and some of what I *did* find was rather old). Two quick vibrates is not very useful for texts when it takes much longer than that to notice it vibrating (especially with how weak and quick those two vibrations are).
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have haptic feedback turned off, but the arrows you use to navigate the home screen still vibrate, as well as the luck buttons and widgets. Is this normal, or is this an issue? Also while in low light, or dark conditions, shouldn't the for hard keys light up?? Is this an issue if they don't, or just an affect of not having brightness set to auto?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero - no sound or vibrate for text notifications I have had my Hero for about a week (first Droid!). I am no longer getting sound or vibrate text notifications. I get sound for email notifications, but no vibrate. The LED indicator is working fine. I don't really care about the email notifications, but I need the sound and vibrate for texts! I have checked the forums and found several threads where downloading Sound Manager resolved the issue. It didn't work for me. I have also checked Settings> Sound & Display > Notification Sound. There is a tone selected. I tried a battery pull as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an htc hero with sprint. Recently, I have been facing some issues with not hearing or feeling text messages because I miss the tone or buzz of the phone, even with the max volume on. Is there a setting where I can make the phone repeatedly give me an alert and/or vibrate when I get a text message? I have searched both the sound and display option in the phone settings and the messages settings.
