Am I missing a setting here or something, the last few phones I have had, Palm and WinMo, would allow you to dial a phone number from within a text or calendar event by taping on it, any string of 7 numbers or more if you clicked on it it would ask if you wanted to dial, this is really helpful of someone texts you a phone # and you want to call it

I have a PDF of a phone list.I want to access it from time to time and dial a phone number off of it. However, I cannot click the phone number.Is there a way of having a PDF reader that recognizes phone numbers (and email addresses) and allows you to click those features in order to dial (or send an email)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a business user that has been a Blackberry user.Recently moved the to Samsung Fascinate.Love a lot about it but noticed that the contacts that have phone numbers followed by an extension the Fascinate lumps all of these numbers together rather than dialing the 10 digits and asking me if I want to dial the extension. Thus the call does not even go through because the 16 or more digit number now is not recognized as a valid phone number.Does anyone have a work around with an app or a new release?

I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. People I call are telling me that they hear a phone number being dialed loudly while I speak to them, as if I am making a call while speaking to them. Today it happened and the person said she had to shout to be heard over this loud noise-which I cant hear!! I must be touching some button or application with my hand or face, but what?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMost every other "issue" to this phone has been a non-issue for me to this point.However, the one feature Samsung really screwed us on is the voice capabilities of the phone.I think they are tied to the Nuance system and therefore unusable by other apps like google voice search and where.I hope samsung or sprint writes a live search app for this phone.I bought the phone with the expectations of this phone being capable of voice commands without being limited by nuance.

This is then used to connect to other users using the application. My application relies on looking up the user's number from Android's Settings -> About Phone -> Phone identity -> Phone number (this can at times be blank.. but that is a separate problem). I am assuming that the above Phone number contains the user's full number. ie, my UK Android phone shows my number as: +447832xxxxxxxx, where 44 is the UK's international dialing code and 7832 is the operator. Is it safe to assume that all Androids phones would include the international dialing code, which starts with +? I would be indebted if any Android users could have a quick look at their Android settings and confirm whether Phone number is displayed as +international code+operator+number, i.e. US Android sets start with +1xxxxxx.

I have been reading all the posts concerning battery issues and have the same problems myself. I have tried numerous tips and tricks that i have read on this forum to hopefully increase my battery life. My post today is about how to forward a text message using the moment. I upgraded from an Samsung Instict and had no problem forwarding messages using the phone; however, I do not get the option to forward when i hit the menu key when looking at a text.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIve been searching for this for a few days and Ive got nothing so hopefully someone knows. Is there any way to call a number that's been sent via sms? Ex: My wife sent me a text containing the phone number of a client. On previous phones, that number would be a hyperlink and when I clicked it the dialer would open with that number pre-inserted. It seems on the moment I have to memorize the number, go to the dialer and input it in. This isn't so easy when your driving or doing much of anything.
Is there any app or setting that allows me to automatically input the number into the dialer? I tried copy and paste but you cant paste into the dialer.
I used to be a blackberry owner and was able to set the area code, etc in my phone (i.e. to put it to 1+780), but I cannot find this option on the desire. I see FIXED DIALING NUMBERS in settings, but all it does is ask for some password? Does anyone know how I can go about setting it so ALL my numbers will call the area code without having to edit my contacts?

I was wondering if anyone knew what this was and how I can decode it?
I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
I am wondering if I have a software problem. I have tried everything to shut off the haptic feedback when dialing a number to make a call. Haptic is shut off for the 4 main buttons at the bottom of the screen and it is off for text typing, but it will just not shut off for dialing phone numbers. Am I missing something here?

I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
I use HTC desire, using Froyo 2.2 by pinky (based on official rom).One thing that bothers me so much, is after I dial a number from phone, some screen savers of android like cartoons showed up. The pictures were like android character playing guitar, android eating ice cream, sometime as stupid as android eating hot dog.Is this normal for android os? or did I just misinstalled some apps that does this? from what i remember I never installed screen saver apps. Those screensavers bothers me so much! As I was becoming unable to see the 'End call' button!

We prefer to keep our mobile numbers private, so we need to block our caller id on a per call basis. It wouldn't work for us to block caller id on all calls. On my BB, I would copy and paste the number and then add *67 as a prefix.
On the Hero I can't find a way to edit the phone number from the text message. I can delete it, but can't add to it. Most of these numbers I would not want to add to my address book. I had my office text the number with *67 as a prefix, but the Hero doesn't recognize the *. It just copies the digits. What workaround options do I have?
