Sprint HTC Hero :: Dialing Speed Tone Length
Jan 25, 2010
I normally set up call forwarding from my home phone number to my cell phone by speed-dialing a special sting of numbers from my cell phone. Once the computer on the other side answers, the cell phone sends all the correct codes, including the number where I wish my forwarded calls to go.With my newly bought HTC Hero (Sprint), this doesn't seem to work, because the automatically dialed tones are much too fast and too short. I've tried putting a "P" (for pause) between each digit, but it doesn't help.Other cell phones provide way to select between short and long tones, but apparently the Hero does not.Is there a way to slow down the dialing string so that it can be read by the phone company's computer? Obviously, I could manually key in each digit, but that's really not a good solution.

Is there anyway or any hack out there, perhaps an app, that allows you to send any length of video from your email to another email address? most of my videos are larger than 20MB and my gmail app won't send since it's too large. this would be great

When I am dialing a phone number (typing the digits one at a time, not going through my address book), the phone will beep and vibrate when I press a number. Any way to turn off the vibration?

I've been reading on this forum for a lil while but never figured out how to add a custom text tone I tried changing the notification but for some reason it does not change the text tone no matter what notification I select. Am I doing something wrong? I already downloaded ring droid but I kinda gave up. If there is like a lil guide to customizing the hero?

I just got a new bluetooth headset, and I set it up with my Hero only to find *gasp* no voice dialing? The whole point of having the headset is to not have to look at the phone while driving! The owner's manual of the Hero says it supports hands free profiles, as does my headset(obviously) but there's no voice dial. Unbelievable!

Is there a way to keep the dialing screen lit during a call? It's a pain to recall the screen when you have to enter extensions.

My wife and I both have Hero's and after the recent updates our phone takes forever to dial a number. It was bad before going to 2.1 but now it's terrible. It takes about 10 to 15 seconds to actually dial out. Any suggestions? We both have Google Voice but it dials slow regardless if we're using Google Voice or the standard dialer.

I have turned off vibration in the settings but it still vibrated when phone/dial a number. Is there any way to turn this off as well? I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. The lag id horrible compared to typing with the vibrate off

Does the Nexus One not support speed dialing or custom MP3 ringtones? I've looked all over the phone for this and can't find it.

I've got the sprint update on my non rooted phone. I'm in Portland Oregon, and it seems that my internet download speed is much slower than I expect. When I run a speed test I am coming up with .3mbps. Is that normal? What can I do to speed it up? Also, it pings to Los Angeles, seems funny to me. I primarily use my hero as a tether to my laptop and like to watch netflix. I have the all data plan with sprint.

I have serched this forum to no avail. Is it possible to make a shortcut on the home page for speed dial? I can't seem to make it happen. I am able to make shortcuts for other things. I prefer the one-touch dialing speed dial provides.

Is there any way to change Speed Dial # 2 to not be Sprint Customer Service. It's kind of presumptuous of them to assume that I want to call them frequently o that I'm too stupid to press *2. Also, is there any way to have multiple speed dials for one contact (e.g., one for home and one for mobile)?

Ok, my question here is about the speed in which the Androids operate. I have a HTC Hero, I have it rooted and running the Fresh 1.1 ROM and the more I play with it, the more I don't like it. I work at a Verizon franchise and get to play with the Moto Droid all day and it is amazing at how much quicker it is. So, what I am asking is, is there antother DROID powered device besides the Nexus One that puts out similar speeds? And is there one for Sprint that is coming out soon or rumored to be atleast?

So I was very happy to show off my Hero to my friend who just got his pre. Anyway he was on this website to check his internet speed on his pre and so I wanted to check mine. I was averaging ~500kbps and I hit 1000kbps once. But my friend, he was averaging 8.5MBps, yes MBps. Obviously same network, at the same time. What up wit dat?
We also tried to go to websites we had never been to at the same time and he was beating me pretty handly. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys were getting? Site is mobilespeedtest.com, then it run test and post results! Whoa, just did it right now and I got 1311kbps.

So I was messing around with ZenEXP and really loved it though I ran across a problem. I noticed via system panel that my cpu clock speed was stuck redlined at the full 691mhz. I've tried using both setcpu and overclock widget to alleviate this but neither helped, anyone else have this problem or know of a workaround?

I've noticed that when i switch from htc sense to the original android home, that my hero speeds up quite a bit. I think this is because that htc did not quite make htc sense like other android apps. Have you ever heard of apps that have a leak? I think that is what htc sense is.

I have a T-Mobile G2 and I have managed to change my ringtone to a tune of my liking but am finding it difficult to answer calls quick enough because my ringtone doesn't seem to last long enough. On my N97 and Vario it gives a lot more chance to answer. Is there any way of extending the length of the ringtone please ? Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm Rubenn from London UK and recently upgraded to a Hero HTC after having used a Touch Duo HTC for around two years. I, like may others contributing to your forum, am very sad that there is no way I can use my head set and voice dial out with this phone. What a step backwards as in many other respects, this is a wonderful phone although it will take me ages to get my head around all the other possibilities it offers. Is it possible that HTC will get out a patch that can be installed at some point in the near future.
