HTC Eris :: Way To Get Any Set Up For Speed Dialing?
Nov 28, 2010I am new here and new to this phone (HTC Eris). I am not seeing any set up for speed dialing. Is there a way to set this up?

View 1 RepliesI normally set up call forwarding from my home phone number to my cell phone by speed-dialing a special sting of numbers from my cell phone. Once the computer on the other side answers, the cell phone sends all the correct codes, including the number where I wish my forwarded calls to go.With my newly bought HTC Hero (Sprint), this doesn't seem to work, because the automatically dialed tones are much too fast and too short. I've tried putting a "P" (for pause) between each digit, but it doesn't help.Other cell phones provide way to select between short and long tones, but apparently the Hero does not.Is there a way to slow down the dialing string so that it can be read by the phone company's computer? Obviously, I could manually key in each digit, but that's really not a good solution.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm a newb when it comes to Bluetooth; tonight I borrowed a Moto HS850 and tried it with two ROMs on my Eris:
- HTC/VZW stock 2.1 pre- July OTA (= leak-V3)
- Tazz Froyo CM6 2.0
Results:
No problems pairing or connecting, answering, disconnecting, or last-number redialing.
I could NOT initiate voice dialing at all on the stock 2.1 ROM, and on the CM6 Froyo ROM, the headset could initiate the voice dialer, but it appears that no voice input was being transferred to the voice dialer.
So, I guess I have two questions:
- are all the Froyo CM6 ROMs essentially the same when it comes to Bluetooth capabilities and bugs?
- ignoring cases of gross interoperability problems (can't pair/can't connect), are the results obtained highly sensitive to the brand and model of the paired BT device?
I got my refurb eris, so far so good. How do I setup to dial vm and enter password in speedial? There was a symbol for a pause, between *86 and the passcode. I can't remember.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am told I often biutt-dial, sometimes I am on the phone for hours.
I carry my eris is in a belt holser.
So what is the best way to avoid unwanted dialings?
Usually it butt-dials the last number I called.
Is KaosFroyo overclocked "out of the box" so to speak, or do you need SetCPU to OC? My dad (yes he has an Eris too) flashed it last night and noticed it was running a little slower or at least not as fast as he thought it would be.
Also, how do you use bluetooth dialing, do you just do it the same way you would normally but instead talking into the bluetooth device?
I'm having an awful time with my Eris when it comes to picking up calls and an even worse time dialing out. Everything is delayed after pressing keys. This morning I went to dial someone and when it didn't dial I set the phone down to use my office phone and then out of the corner of my eye I see it was calling the person. Once I had the person on the phone w/in a minute my cheek (I'm assuming) ended the call.
So the screen was in the call history list so I pressed his name again to call and it called the next person below on the list. It was probably adding his name to the call history and moved the list but because it was delayed it dialed the wrong person. I love this phone except for phone Calls. I'm going into Verizon today to complain. They will be able to tell from my call history how frequently I'm missing calls because the phone doesn't pick up and then I redial back. 5 calls back and forth for a 2 minute conversations!
I was just looking over at the apps section of androidforums and found a link for the Need for Speed Shift apk. Has anybody tried it on the Eris to see if it works? I assume the processor can't handle it, but thought I would ask.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo whats the best ROM for speed because my dad has an eris and he's always saying how slow it is but then i put KaosFroyo 34 and he was so happy with the speed, the downside is he wants more. Which brings me here. Whats the best ROM for speed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne thing that has kind of always urked me about this phone when comparing it to the evil iPhone is the transitions between pages. Why is it that there is always a little jerk here and there on transitioning from one page to the next? I noticed that lists are often even worse! I mean, how hard is it to render some scrolling text? At the moment, I am running IC3, and it seems to have sped things up quite a bit, but I think the transition issue is an issue with the core O.S. itself? I am just thinking that a nice, smooth transition would give me warm fuzzies (which is kind of what I was expecting when going root). I know it's minor, but I've always been curious.
Also, I bought SetCPU, and I haven't been able to quite figure out how to overclock this phone yet... I tried raising the min speed, and it locked up the phone. The top speed is set at 880k by default, but it always reads "526" for the current frequency. I was kind of expecting it to have two simple sliders One for low frequency (idle) and one for high that were self explanatory, but that does not appear to be the case. I've been thinking about throwing JIT on it as well since everyone has been talking about it, but I just haven't had the time to really dig into the reading yet.
Ok just rooted with Ivans 1.0 ROM.
Kind of confused about the CPU speed. Right now i have it set 710max and 245min and on ondemand, is that what i should be doing?
What kind of download speed should I expect with my Droid ERIS? Using my 802.11g wireless router I get around 2mb/sec according to spreedtest.net. I get around 1mb/sec using 3G. My laptop gets around 15mb/s over my 802.11g network. I'm guessing that the difference might be because my laptop has 4gb ram and a dual core and the ERIS doesn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere are a few simple tweaks I discovered to make your Kaos Froyo rom as fast or faster than most 2.1 based roms. These settings make a world of difference in how the phone responds and make Froyo a joy to use!
1. Ditch Adw and install Launcher Pro. 90% of the slowness comes from Adw!
2. Go to settings/display/animation and turn off all animations. They might look neat, but youll be surprised at how fast the phone is without them.
3. Under LauncherPro preferences, go to Advanced Settings and change the opening speed to 10 for both options.
4. Install setcpu and set it for 245,710 for normal use, and 245,480 for when the screen is off. Kaos rom is already overclocked to 710 so this is just for extra battery life.
5. reboot the phone after applying the tweaks and enjoy a very fast eris.
Seriously, after doing this my phone flies like it has never done before on any 2.1 based rom. Changing between apps is instant and everything is extremely responsive. I love this rom!
Anyone else had the experience of internet speed with PDAnet being maple syrup slow? I mean, obviously the Eris is not the fastest phone anyway, but there are, confusingly, times when it's actually quite fast. As a corollary to this question, are there ways to increase 3G/tethering speed?
View 19 Replies View RelatedFirst and foremost, I fully advocate setting your CPU speed (via SetCPU, Gscripts, or otherwise) to 19.2 MHz Minimum, On Demand, across all profiles. This will greatly improve your battery life and you will not see a decrease in performance. (NOTE: Do NOT adjust your CPU minimum to 19.2 MHz if you are running the BFS or CFS kernels.) Now, follow these steps to optimize and calibrate your actual battery: With your phone powered ON, plug it into the charger. Charge until the LED is Green, showing the phone as being fully charged. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it OFF as quickly as possible. Once the screen and your menu lights are completely dark, showing your phone as being completely OFF, reconnect the phone to the charger. Charge until the LED is Green, showing the phone as being fully charged. Disconnect your phone from the charger. Power your phone ON and, as quickly as possible, power it back OFF. Reconnect your phone to the charger. Once the LED is Green, boot into Recovery by holding Power On + Vol Up simultaneously. In Recovery, go to Wipe > Battery Stats. Go back and Power Off your phone from Recovery. Ensure that your phone is now completely OFF and that the LED is Green. Disconnect your phone and Power On. Use as normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to get the number "1" to be your voicemail speed dial? I've done the 2.1 update, and saved the *86pXXXX# as the password, but the dialer won't got to voicemail when I actually press "1" on the dial pad. Does anyone have a fix for this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhile using the speed dial widget that comes with the Eris, is there a way to put two contacts of the same person in, but with different numbers? For example,I want both my fiance's cell and his work number in those 9 slots, but I can only choose one as the default and if I go to add him in another slot, he isn't even available as a choice under my People.I can make him a wholly separate contact for his work info obviously, but I was just wondering if there was a sleeker way?

Which ROM do you think gives you the best battery life without losing too much in operation speed.
Or is there better ways to save battery. I have turned off quit a bit of items that run in the background.
My wife's stock 1.5 Eris got the 2.1 update the other day. Since then she cannot setup her speed dials. It goes through like it works, but there are still no speed dials in the list. I cleared cache and data from Dialer and the two People apps in the manager, but it hasn't resolved it. VZW support last night had me do a battery pull, but that also didn't help.
So other than the Factory Reset option, is there anything I can do? Are there any apps specific to Speed Dials? I'd like to avoid the reset at all costs, if possible.
I charge it from the wall outlet, my home PC, my work laptop, and also my car cigarette lighter. I kinda feel like they charge at different rates, but I have a hunch that's not true.
