When I click on gmail, I get a "waiting for sync" message. It's been there for about an hour.
Is there something I can do to speed this along?

Since yesterday, I can't sync Gmail, I cant actually download from the market (although I can initiate), and I cant open Google Talk (it opens for a split second then closes, no force quit or error messages at all).I have searched for a solution all morning.I have tried going to google and google storage in applications and clearing cache/data to no help.I even went back to a nandroid from 2 weeks ago, no help there either.The only thing I have done is accidently change my password online from a PC.I changed it back 5 minutes later to the original (which is the one the phone uses).I am using Fresh 2.0D.PS yes I wiped when I went back to an old nandroid backup...Yes my sync settings are correct.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am currently downloading 2.1 and wanted to make sure I was able to get all my contacts back. When I go into "contacts" in gmail, everyone shows up. When 2.1 finishes, obviously I will lose everything. Will my contacts automatically show up on my hero once I set up my gmail account on the phone or is there more that I need to do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere is the deal, back in Jan when I finally got all my contacts sorted and edit after some issues with sync, I tuned off the Auto sync, with the idea that I would force a sync when I wanted to and I could watch what was going on.I have about 350-375 contacts in my phone currently. I want to play with some 2.1 roms so I need to get these synced to gmail so I dont loose them again. i can not get it to sync. I get :I have tried setting auto sync and still have an issue.
I recently had my phone replaced due to the dust under the screen issue. When I set up my new (refurb) phone with my gmail account, I had tons of contacts in my phone that I had never seen before. The girl at sprint said it imports all of my email contacts, and it looked like they had added contacts from email addresses I had only emailed once, that werent even in my contacts group on my email. They ended up wiping my contacts and transferring them over from my old hero. She said I should create a new gmail account, and use it ONLY for syncing my contacts, that way I dont get all the other email contacts in my phone also. Im wondering how I do this, because I want to set it up before 2.1 comes out for the hero, so when I upgrade to 2.1, I wont have the same issue.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have tried to get to the bottom of this problem a few different ways, but haven't had any luck and haven't found it in any other threads. The issue is that after the 2.1 update my gmail will not sync to the phone. I have gone to Settings < Accounts & Sync < Google and found that Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar are all set to sync but while Contacts and Calendars have recent times for their latest sync Gmail is always the same. I have unchecked/rechecked the Sync Gmail toggle to get the sync going and the arrows spin but it never updates. I have also tried to refresh from the Gmail app itself with no luck and logged into a Wifi connection to see if it would work over something other than the mobile network still no luck. I have also rebooted several times with this seeming to work to resync Gmail only once and not in the last couple of tries. I do have Advanced Task Killer and have used it to close down a few programs including the browser. This never had any affect in 1.5 but just wanted to make sure a new problem couldn't have come from that.

Seems that whenever I have two calls going on, I can't hang up on one caller unless they hang up. If I try pressing the end button then I hang up on both callers. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got the sprint update on my non rooted phone. I'm in Portland Oregon, and it seems that my internet download speed is much slower than I expect. When I run a speed test I am coming up with .3mbps. Is that normal? What can I do to speed it up? Also, it pings to Los Angeles, seems funny to me. I primarily use my hero as a tether to my laptop and like to watch netflix. I have the all data plan with sprint.

In investigating trying to get a voicemail message simulated w/ the AVD Emulator, I tried just setting the incoming mail to "SEND_TO_VOICEMAIL" - but that does not create a message. There is not an indicator that the call was made until you check your call log (which is the expected behavior, so no complaints there).
I have looking through the Android documentation, tutorials/samples, and reference. I cannot find anything talking about creating or bootstrapping a voicemail message (and I haven't seen anything about handling other instances of a "Message Waiting Indicator").
I've looked around on a couple other message forums, like anddev.org, and haven't seen any examples dealing with voicemail. I have a Safari account and searched in the Android dev books and only find mention of the Intent URI for the Dailer (voicemail:).
If looks like when I'm trying to achieve would be done by creating a Notification and passing it to NotificationManager.notify() as done in this example article:[url]
Would PendingIntent be the Intent that I'm looking for? I'm new to the platform/api, so I'm likely just missing some knowledge on what I'm trying to do is called. I have done a fair bit of looking around, but I've reached a bit where I feel I'm going in circles.
If looks like once I could create/simulate voicemail, then I'd chance need to create a PhoneStateListener with a definition of onMessageWaitingIndicatorChanged() and call TelephonyManager.listen().

View 10 Replies View RelatedI normally set up call forwarding from my home phone number to my cell phone by speed-dialing a special sting of numbers from my cell phone. Once the computer on the other side answers, the cell phone sends all the correct codes, including the number where I wish my forwarded calls to go.With my newly bought HTC Hero (Sprint), this doesn't seem to work, because the automatically dialed tones are much too fast and too short. I've tried putting a "P" (for pause) between each digit, but it doesn't help.Other cell phones provide way to select between short and long tones, but apparently the Hero does not.Is there a way to slow down the dialing string so that it can be read by the phone company's computer? Obviously, I could manually key in each digit, but that's really not a good solution.

I have a HTC Hero, I have it rooted and running the Fresh 1.1 ROM and the more I play with it, the more I don't like it. I work at a Verizon franchise and get to play with the Moto Droid all day and it is amazing at how much quicker it is. So, what I am asking is, is there antother DROID powered device besides the Nexus One that puts out similar speeds? And is there one for Sprint that is coming out soon or rumored to be atleast?

Anyway he was on this website to check his internet speed on his pre and so I wanted to check mine. I was averaging ~500kbps and I hit 1000kbps once. But my friend, he was averaging 8.5MBps, yes MBps. Obviously same network, at the same time. What up wit dat?
We also tried to go to websites we had never been to at the same time and he was beating me pretty handly. Anyway, I wanted to see what you guys were getting? Site is mobilespeedtest.com, then it run test and post results! Whoa, just did it right now and I got 1311kbps.
Im trying to root my hero using pre kitchen but its not going threw i run the diagnostics text before you root everything checks out good. I have tried to root by having checked the box (with google) and tried it by not checking it. When my phone reboots i get the exclamation mark with a little phone on it. Everything seems to be running good except for this part# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img error opening /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.2.3.img: No such file or directory can this be the problem? If so, how can i fix it?

I noticed via system panel that my cpu clock speed was stuck redlined at the full 691mhz. I've tried using both setcpu and overclock widget to alleviate this but neither helped, anyone else have this problem or know of a workaround?
