Sep 2, 2010Anyone else experience this? Is there any way to get the phone to keep charging after it gives that "battery is full message"?

View 15 RepliesI know there are several posts about battery life this technically isn't one. I'm just curious how long a full battery charge takes?
My phone is currently "off" and plugged in. if i click the end button the little battery chart shows that it is charging because the meters are still climbing up. does it ever tell you that your battery is full?
I forgot to charge my phone the other day, so this thing has been off charge for 30 hrs and I'm at 70% battery.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone since day one and I've ran the battery down almost every day and only had minimum "low battery" alerts but tonight I am getting a warning flash on the screen every 10 seconds saying "Low Battery: Please Charge Battery". Seriously, every 10 seconds and it started at 15% battery left.so I have at least 30-60 minutes of life left.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI usually charge my phone overnight, so plug it in and let it charge until i get up on a morning. However I'm noticing when I unplug it, the battery drops almost instantly to between 96 and 91%. I'm thinking this is a case of overcharging? Its just happened to me now, so I've turned the phone off, let it charge and as soon as the orange light turns green I'll unplug it and turn it on and see what happens.Anyone else any experience of this? I want to charge overnight, but if its going to give me a worse battery life by doing so.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am new to the android, migrating over from blackberry. The first thing I have noticed is a considerable difference in battery. On my bb from tmobile, I was getting a day or 2 of battery life with a lot of use. Hundreds of text a day, emails (2 accounts), talk, and web browsing. I got my mytouch 3g slide yesterday it charged for about 6 hours. I took it off the charger around 9-930 at night. I played with for a while, went to bed and got up and it was at less then 30%. Now when i went to bed, i was only missing a little bit of battery. I didn't think it would drain that much overnight with no use. That is going to be a serious problem because of the amount i use my phone. I am currently charging again. Does it take a couple of charges before the battery life will reach it's peak? Also with my bb, i was getting 1 bar of signal and constantly switching from 3g, to edge, to gprs. With MT3g, i am getting 1-2 bars. Does poor signal drain the battery faster?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCharge the phone until the led light turns green. Then unplug, turn the power OFF (Don't just put it to sleep, power the phone off completely) then plug it in (the led light should now be red) charge until the light turns green again, probably like 10 or 20 minutes. Makes a big difference! I learned this in another thread but I can't find it now. Thanks to the original poster!
Update 1: I did this method again this morning 10am. It's now almost 11pm and I still have a 60% charge! I made several short phone calls, checked email, texts throughout the day, and took about 35 pics. I also spent a fair amount of time looking at them. Granted I wasn't on the phone as much as the first few obsessive days of owning this baby but still, I'm very happy with this battery trick.
Update 2: I want to add this quote by 'jasonb1985' from a different thread:"if you take it off of the charger right as the light turns from orange to green then you'll actually have a full charge. if you let it charge overnight then you'll wake to a phone that quickly falls into the mid 90's." I have to agree with this. Even with my charging method above, if you let it stay on the charger too long after it turns green for the second time, the battery level will quickly drop after removing it from the charger. I've found it's better to remove it around the 20/30 minute mark even if the light is still red rather than let it sit there and miss when it turns green. Of course the best case scenario is to take it off the charger the moment it turns green but that's not very practical. One more thing I've noticed is that if you spend a lot of time in a location where there is little or no reception such as a hotel or basement etc, your battery will drop very fast. Best to put it in airplane mode in those situations if possible.
This question seems a little (a lot) odd. because naturally we want our battery to get fully charged to get the most stamina out of it.
but i read a while ago that for Li-Io batteries the most efficient charge range are 10%-90% so basically that means the full charge -discharge cycles aren't good for the battery but harmful as it cause them to die faster..
anyway i considered this reading as a good theory until i bought a sony vaio laptop which had a battery preservation feature (it limits the maximal charge to 80% or 50% depending on the option) and for more that a year and a half my battery still performed well (less than 4% degradation) so i thought this was a real deal after all.
still the use cases for a laptop and smartphone are vastly different (the laptop can sit with 50% charge just fine since it will be on charge most of the time while the smartphone has to get the maximum amount of energy to last without a charger)
so is there (or can it be made) an app that can limit the charge (to 80% or 90%)
i got this problem recently after installing a bunch of new app, till this point with all app & wi-fi on ,it took about a day to recharge, when i used my phone with all functions, but now: i uninstalled most of those new app,i turn wi-fi,gps,3g off, kill all background tasks with task panel, even so, with a full charge battery in STAND-BY, it takes just about 3-4 hours for battery to be empty! any solution please? i can't use my phone in real way any more because if i brows internet or use any app it is gonna empty in less then 2 hours, battery app tell me battery has excellent health too? the only new app that i didn't uninstalled is battery widget itself, could it be the source of this problem? the other change i had were: i gave quick access(show application in notification bar) for "toggle setting" & "task panel".
View 5 Replies View Relatedwhy is this?i get about 3-4 hours on my phone after charing it full.i mean 3-4 hours of actually not even doing anything on the phone, nothing.this is a standard unrooted phone, had it 9 months.i bought a new battery too and still dies after 3-4 hours....what shall i do?
View 2 Replies View Relatedbuilding on the discussion about the inc starting to drain from the battery after it reaches 100% (if left on), is there an app or a setting on the phone that would play a notification sound when the battery light goes green or the battery reaches full charge? of course the light turns green, but i'm not watching my phone. if i could have it set off a notification sound when it reaches the green light/100% full, i could remove it from the charger promptly. i am pretty sure i read all the battery threads correctly, and that the problem is that after it reaches 100%, if left plugged in, it starts to run on battery not wall charge, so it depletes the battery even while it appears to be charging (in fact, it is no longer charging). right? that's why i'd like something to notifiy me audibly when it is at 100%.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI bought HTC Tattoo, it's my first phone like that. The instruction is in german, and I can't understand it. So I have really stupid q: How to put SD card and SIM card? Do I need to charge the battery for full first?
View 3 Replies View RelatedPlease correct that by constructing a fixation for the USB-port on boardside, caused by the leverage-forces when plugging in or unplugging the charging-cable, so that it cannot break at the solder spots so easily any more. I think one or two gills, pressing from above onto the USB-Port, constructed into the case, would be enough to solve the problem. So the leverage-forces wouldn´t take effekt to the solder-spots of the USB-Port, but to the (new constructed) gills and the case of the X10.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have htc explorer a310e..the problem is that even if i charge continuously 10-12 hour its battery status never show full charge status, although it will be around 40-50 percent .even i changed battery no use.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.

View 13 Replies View RelatedMy Epic Has been charging for hours now and still hasn't hit full charge. I was charging it at work all day and now when I got home. Horrible battery life and worst of all it takes insane amounts of time for it too charge. Yes I have reset my phone many times and even did a factory reset. Is this happening to anyone else?
View 21 Replies View RelatedHow many times do you charge your Epic 4G a day? On the day where I'm on the go and don't use it that much I charge my Epic 4G 2x a day. On a day I heavily (3-4hrs then charge) use it I charge it about 3x a day. What about you people?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMany of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a battery app that is very accurate. I charge my phone at night, but it never gets to 100%, usually in the low 90s. If I turn the phone off, it charges to 100%. Is there a "reserver" on this battery? And what's the trick to getting the phone to charge to 100% and getting the most out of it?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have an interesting problem. for some reason, when i charge my phone while off, it will only charge itself to 96%, and will only charge to 100% while turned on. i noticed this and figured that maybe i did not fully charge it before i flashed it last time, so i repeated the process and got it to a "true" 100% (i know this because when i plugged it in, it immediately said battery full, as opposed to before i discovered this when after charging (while off) and it said battery full i'd pull the battery then reinsert, it would begin charging again) i then reflashed (warheads). i now run my battery until it dies completely, then charge while off (still only get to 96%), but when it finally gets to 100%, the "battery left" widget says less and less time left each time i charge. (the first time it said 24hrs, then it went to 22, then to 18, then 16, now its 14)what have i done wrong? and does anyone have ideas on how to fix this one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor any android phone. How should one use/ charge the phone when it's new?
