For any android phone. How should one use/ charge the phone when it's new?
I know that With the nexus one, people are told to fully charge the phone for an amount of time before even turning on the phone.
Once I get my samsung captivate should I do the same or something different?

I have a problem with getting my samsung captivate to go into download mode, when i hold my volume buttons then put in my usb cable in the phone it just shows a battery charge icon instead of download mode.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIt pops a message saying it's full, unplug. So I try doing it every morning before going to work, but that's not enough time to charge it completely. So I end up charging it partially at home and then finish charging it in the car. So when it's impossible to charge it fully in one charging session (which I assume is the best way to charge for the health of the battery), should I over charge or should I keep interrupting the battery's normal usage with multiple short charges?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sprint GNex. I just started having this problem recently (but before the 4.3 update). I plug my phone in overnight and at some point in the middle of the night an error occurs that make the phone think it is off the charger and has a fully depleted battery. The battery level icon shows no charge and if I pull the phone off the charger it immediately says it has to shut down due to a low battery. However, as soon as I turn it back on it is back to normal with a full charge.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe AT&T manual advises you to fully charge your battery when you get it while samsung tells you what I have always heard, which is to fully drain and recharge the battery when you first get the phone. This is what I have always done. Is fully discharging and then recharging the right thing to do? I would assume so, but I want to hear it from you guys.
Second. After the problem, I have become damn near paranoid on charging the phone. Since the purchase I ran it down completely until the phone shut itself down. I then fully charged the phone in one sitting. Am I now free to plug and pull when I need to? Should I do a couple more full cycles? God, this all sounds silly even while typing this..lol, but I have been sitting it opposite rooms because I am afraid to move the phone and break the charge...lol. God...I feel dumb. Since I got my Captivate just a couple of weeks after it hit the market, I experienced really good battery life. I could plug the charger in at 6:00 when I get up, take it off the charger at 7:30 when I leave for work, and make it til the next morning most days.A couple of weeks ago, I left for work with a full charge, and around 11:00 I took out my phone to test WiFi coverage for some new access points we had installed in the office. The phone felt very warm, and the battery indicator was yellow. For the next couple of days it went like this. I had a spare Samsung battery from when AT&T sent us a new one for my wife's Captivate when she was having random shutdown issues, so I swapped batteries. Things were fine for 10-11 days. Then suddenly last evening about 7:30, when I went to look something up online with my phone, it was very warm again, and the battery indicator was red. Had to put it on the car charger when I left church.When I got home, I put it on the charger all night. By midday today, it was in the yellow, and it finally died about an hour ago. again the handset felt very warm. I don't have a spare USB cable here at work, so will have to wait to get home to charge it. Anything particular I should look for on the phone (running apps, etc.)? Or do I just need to go ahead and place a call to AT&T support?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI haven't been getting very good battery life (less than one day with VERY minimal actual use). I installed Android System Info and went to DashBoard, then Battery, then History. If I select "Other usage" and "Since last unplugged" it shows "Running" as 100%. When I click on the "Running" bar it says "Time spent without sleeping: 14h 43m 15s (100%)". So it looks like it hasn't gone to sleep at all since I unplugged it.
7 of those 14+ hours was spent sitting on my desk at work and 90% or more of the rest of the time was spent either in my jacket pocket or sitting on the table at home. I spent maybe 30 mins reading texts and browsing the market and didn't do anything else with the phone all day.
Should it not have gone to sleep for at least some of that time? Could this be why the battery is pretty much dead by the end of the day? Is there a way to figure out why it's not going to sleep at all?
I am wondering if at&t going to charge when you use it. When it is available to us
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to charge this thing for about 4-5 hours now and it still won't get a full charge. I'm using a wall charge because I know that is more powerful than charging through my computer, but even with the phone off it is not getting a full charge. In comparison my Evo, Hero, Palm Pre and iPhone charge full within 2-3 hours, closer to 2 with the phone off. I'm just wondering if this is an isolated issue or more widespread.

If I can go to the store and just get a new battery that would be nice because I have rooted and customized and downloaded apps and if it is the battery that is causing the problem it would be so much more convenient to get a new battery.
Ive had my Moment for 4 days now. I went through all the posts and nothing seems to help. I charged my battery for 16 hours and it died within 30min. and not just the low battery warning the phone shut off. Ive tried the car charger pluggin it into my computer and the wall charger and the longest it has lasted is 1 hour. havnt really downloaded anything other than a task killer to see if that helped. View 23 Replies View Relatedi have an interesting problem. for some reason, when i charge my phone while off, it will only charge itself to 96%, and will only charge to 100% while turned on. i noticed this and figured that maybe i did not fully charge it before i flashed it last time, so i repeated the process and got it to a "true" 100% (i know this because when i plugged it in, it immediately said battery full, as opposed to before i discovered this when after charging (while off) and it said battery full i'd pull the battery then reinsert, it would begin charging again) i then reflashed (warheads). i now run my battery until it dies completely, then charge while off (still only get to 96%), but when it finally gets to 100%, the "battery left" widget says less and less time left each time i charge. (the first time it said 24hrs, then it went to 22, then to 18, then 16, now its 14)what have i done wrong? and does anyone have ideas on how to fix this one?

2.pandora sounds messed up. All other music apps soumd fine but the bass is messed up coming through headphones or a stereo.

My Note 2 stopped connecting to charger and PC last week. It eventually died. I have since tried another charged battery from my sisters phone and it still will not turn on. The initial start-up "Galaxy" logo appears, but doesn't go further than that. All functions seemed fine until battery initially drained after day two without charging. The data storage was at it's limit at the time too.

They checked it out, downloaded a battery saver app and sent me on my way stating my phone was no longer under warranty. Then my phone would not hold any charge, I again went to the Verizon store and was told there was nothing they could do. I went to Battery Warehouse to see if they could change the battery, they could not. So, I decided, since it was out of warranty I would removed the battery myself and see if I could order a new one. Well that was another problem because noone knows how to reinstall a battery once you open the back and take it out. So now I am going to activate my Droid 3 and use it until I update to an Iphone in August.
