First Review of Samsung Galaxy S, Epic 4G - Sprint?s Next 4G Phone
FWIW, the article lists the memory as: "Memory 16GB/8GB+ MicroSD(Up to 32GB)"
I live in Arizona, and we don't observe DST. On my computer, all my Google calendar appointments from tomorrow on have the correct time and my calendar time zone is set to Arizona. On my device, everything tomorrow onward has been shifted ahead one hour, as if DST should be affecting my appointments.

It also does this when I go straight to the gallery. I can't delete any items if I can't open the gallery. What can I do short of a factory reset.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe biggest reason I wanted a data phone was so I could check facebook from work (blocked), or while out and about.
When I got the Incredible, I found out that all the Facebook apps do the stupid "Top News" only, and you can't change it to view all the recent new. The only way I could find to get around it was to click on "Full Site" at the bottom of the mobile site page, click on "Most Recent" when the page loaded, then often the link wouldn't actually work but if I hit "refresh" the page would reload with "Most Recent" selected and the most recent posts all listed out. A real pain, but possible.
But when I try the same thing on my Fascinate, I just get a big blank page with no status updates.
Is there any way to view the full, regular, "Most Recent" post list on the Fascinate?
Whenever my vibrant gets 100% battery charge my phone either restarts, or crashes and keeps trying to reload the GUI.Anyone else experiencing this problem? Yes, I'm using the stock phone charger.

Its encouraging to hear statements like this one....
Noah: "Epic is the best hard QWERTY Android device I've ever tried. By a healthy margin!"
I'll definitely be purchasing mine launch day. The 31'st can't come soon enough!
New to smartphones. Example: Just bought Picsay Pro. I see the free version is still on the phone. Can I delete it, or does the Pro version utilize and build on the free one? Another example is Documents to Go. OK to delete free versions after upgrading to pay versions?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a student in the process a building an Android app that can post a GPS track into a Rails application. I would like to do things the "Rails" way and take advantage of the REST. My rails application basically has 3 models at this point: users, tracks, and points. A user has_many tracks and a track has_many points. A track also has a total distance. Points have a latitude and longitude. I have successfully been able to create an empty track with:
curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml' -d '<track><distance>100</distance></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks
That is pretty cool. I am really impressed that rails do this. Just to see what would happen I tried the following:
curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml -d '<track><distance>100</distance><points><point><lat>3</lat><lng>2</lng></point></points></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks
Fail! The server spits back:
Processing TracksController#create (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-04-14 00:03:25) [POST]
Parameters: {"track"=>{"points"=>{"point"=>{"lng"=>"2", "lat"=>"3"}}, "distance"=>"100"}, "user_id"=>"1"} User Load (0.6ms) SELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 1) ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch (Point(#-620976268) expected, got Array(#-607740138)): app/controllers/tracks_controller.rb:47:in 'create'
It seems my tracks_controller doesn't like or understand what it's getting from the params object in my tracks_controller.rb:
def create @track = @user.tracks.build(params[:track])
My xml might be wrong, but at least Rails seems to be expecting a Point from it. Is there anyway I can fix TracksController.create so that it will be able to parse xml of a track with nested multiple points? Or is there another way I should be doing this entirely?
Not sure if this is the right place to write this here, but I was wondering if there was a wire or anything that can be use to hook the phone up to a tv?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been through three different car mounts so far, they of the "universal" variety... one with rubber side clamps, one padded, both with feet underneath... none of them were to my liking... didn't hold my Epic well enough, either fell out (thankfully while I was monitoring it) or felt like it could if I hit too big a bump. My question is if anyone has found a really good car mount yet, specifically for the Epic preferably? I prefer a windshield mount, but I'm willing to consider other options if it's sturdy and I can position it decently in my car.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had pretty bad battery life today, took off the charger at 11:30, just plugged in at 15% 11 hours later, with a short charge in the car on the way to a late lunch. No text messages, no emails, no phone calls . I got a few apps off the market, did a little web surfing, & watched one 4 minute youtube video. This is my first Android phone, I had a HTC Touch Pro before this. BTW - The lack of comms today is because I'm not working right now, but in the middle of federal hiring process with the next appointment on the 13th, wish me luck. Bluetooth, GPS, and wifi are always off. Screen brightness is left at the lowest level. This is all shown with the Power Control widget on a home screen. I also have the Samsung Program Monitor widget on the same screen, and nothing stays running. Auto sync is always off, I rarely actually use gmail. The stock email app is set to check two other email accounts every hour.
I tried a little test, but just don't know what to make of it. I have Battery Monitor and Android Manager Free installed. Whenever I mention Task Manager, I accessed it through AMF. Before beginning, I removed the Weather Channel widget from the home screen and terminated the app in the Task Manager. I had installed a BBC news app today, but uninstalled before testing; it automatically updated a couple times today and showed up in Task Manager after I terminated it. I made sure Background Data was turned off, I generally only turn it back on when I launch the Market (gives a popup saying it needs it). I plugged the charger in with the phone at 26% charge, just for a minute to reset the last time unplugged. Using Battery Monitor (which apparently just shortcuts to the built-in Android battery monitoring screens found through Settings) I checked the status periodically, along with seeing what was active in Task Manager. Every 5 to 10 minutes I would press the power button to turn on the display, then check Battery history - Since last unplugged. I'd check the Task Manager, terminate Battery Monitor and AMF, then press the power button to turn the screen off............
I just got my new epic a few days ago.Coming from a Black Berry this is a new world for me.Can you guys suggest must have apps?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried looking at the videos and pics, but I am unable to see if there is a Tab key. The Tab key is very nice for completing online forms and logins. The original Touch Pro had this key, but they ditched it on the 2nd version.
Anyone know about this yet? Or does Android have another way for tabbing?
I upgraded from a Samsung Exclaim to a Epic via Sprint (Obviously, lol) I put the sd card from the old phone into the new one and put the pics onto my desktop. They're in a format called jpg.md I can't put them on the new phone. I've googled, and contacted Samsung, neither of which has helped. Any suggestions?

Fortunately the reboot time is very fast, but of all the bugs to possibly run into on any cell phone, the scariest is the idea of dropping calls. I am convinced this may be a software glitch that will get fixed with an update.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI may just be losing it, but is there a way to reboot the Epic via key combo? i.e. to reboot the i Phone you just continue to hold power, to reboot a blackberry you do crtl + right caps + delete...but there doesn't seem to be any way to reboot the epic and it is really, really annoying. Been having this bug that Tasker is causing and I need to reboot the phone every morning, and I need to do it once I get away from my home wifi, so when I walk out of the building I have to keep fiddling with the on and off buttons while walking...long story short I would really like an easier way of doing a quick and easy reboot that doesn't require extra steps to turn the phone back on once I've turned it off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided to install Launcher Pro and Home Switcher last night. Since Launcher Pro's contact button didn't work, I decided to un-install LP. *In case you're wondering, each time I clicked on the Contacts icon/button of LP, I would get an error pop-up saying that it was unable to launch (something to this effect.) Anyway, after I un-installed the LP I decided to also un-install the HS - with using just having to use TW - I figured I don't need HS anymore. So I removed HS from my Applications, but I am STILL getting the pop-up window each time I go to my home screen! So annoying! How do I get this off my home screen? I am trying to avoid doing a Factory Reset, because I don't want to have to input all my contacts manually again! Google didn't sync all my contacts, so this would mean having to start all over on setting up my phone. Unless someone can suggest a contacts backup program to place on my PC?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been mounting my phone with my pc for quite awhile, then one day, it decided to be difficult. At first it took a couple, replugs to get it to recognize the SD card. Then, It stopped recognizing it at all. Depending on what USB port I use, I get different results from I/O error, to device not recognized.
Things I have tried:
-Every driver known to mankind.
-Plugging in every single usb port on the computer (including mobo)
-Disconnecting every usb device except for the phone
-Formatting the SD card (lost my photos forgot they were on there)
-Only used STOCK cable.
I'm out of ideas, and sprint claims this is not a problem with the phone on all the forum posts I've seen with similar problems. Has anyone actually found a solution for this other than thinking plugging it in the back of the computer actually fixes anything?
