When I try to add a widget to my home screen and select "get more widgets" I get the error "Unable to download widgets. Tap to try again." Is anyone else getting this problem? I know a few people with the EVO 4g are having this issue but most of them had rooted their phone. Any way to fix this?

I have had my Inc for a few weeks and am still trying to fill up screens and get things set up just the way I want them. I know there have been threads like this in the past, but most of them were from LONG before we got our phones. Since things seem to change frequently I figured I would pick everyone's brains and see what they like. So, what are your absolute favorite apps and widgets .those you can't live without.

I'm wondering if we could get a list going of the apps / widgets that work in landscape orientation. All of the videos I see of the Incredible have the homescreens ignoring landscape. Can anyone confirm or disconfirm this for any apps or widgets that they notice?

Do any backup apps restore your phones icon and widgets. I don' want to have to re setup all the apps I have so I want something (if there is something) that can restore a phone to the way it was home screen and all.

I'm having difficulty downloading some paid apps. My credit card information should be correct because I just bought the paid version of ROM Manager. Then I realized that I can only download apps that have American currency. All others freeze in the authorization stage.

Anyone else having an issue with the android market? I can download and update free apps with no problem, but I suddenly can't download paid apps. (And no my credit card did not get declined ).
I successfully purchase the app, I got the e-mail that the purchase went through, then it hangs at "authorizing purchase". Specifically, I'm having this issue right now with Vignette.

I noticed today that the "downloads" section within Market no longer shows any of the free apps that I downloaded-only the two apps that I paid for are shown. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to bring this list back? A soft reset did not help.

I attempted to purchase and download beautiful widgets, which I have heard is a fantastic app, onlyb to find that whenever the download begins, it promptly ends and informs me that it was unable to download. When I view my downloads in the market, it lists beautiful widgets as purchased, but I can't download it . I paid for it using my debit card, which has worked for other paid apps perfectly. If anyone knows a solution to this problem I would appreciate any feedback immensely!

Long time lurker, first time poster here. As a brand new andoid fan, I've learned a lot from everyone here and now I would love to get help for my problem. I have downloaded lots of apps, but now there seems to be a problem. When I click to download, nothing happens, and then an orange triangle appears with the words "download was unsuccessful, please try again." I have tried all of the suggestions out there, removing and replacing the battery and SIM card, turning Wifi off and back on, logging out of Google Talk (although I seem to be automatically logged back in w/out doing anything), using 2G, 3G and Wifi.

Just wondering if we can share some "must-have" apps and widgets for the HTC Desires running on 2.2 (FROYO). List your top ten with a description of what they do (if it isnt clear from the app name), cost, and where to find them if not in the "Market".In no particular order:
Apps & Widgets
1. Timeriffic (Free, Market) Lets you schedule tasks for your phone to do at specific times of the day (ie. turn on wifi at 6pm when you will be home then off at 23:00 when you will be in bed)
2. Barcode Scan (Free, Market) Barcode Scanner
3. Layar (Free, Market) Augmented Reality App
4. Astro (Free, Market) File Manager
5. RealCalc (Free, Market) Scientific Calculator - Good if you need a % button
6. Flixster (Free, Market) Cinema Showings/Movie info/Trailers etc
7. QuickDesk (Free, Market) Allows you to skip quickly to apps and widgets without leaving the screen that your using
8. Silent Boot (Free, Market) Stops your Desire from making that annoying start up noise
9. Gesture Search (Free, Market) Search by use of gestures on screen
10. "Where's my droid?" (Free, Market) Text your Desire from another phone with a particular word or sentence of choice and it will turn the volume up (if on silent) and alert you to its whereabouts
Widgets
1. BBC News App (Free, Market) News App
2. engadget (Free, Market) Tech news
3. Smooth Calendar (Free, Market) Preview upcoming calendar events
4. Tethering For Froyo (Free, Market) Allows you to have a one-tough widget for wireless and wired tethering
5. Jorte (Free, Market) Calendar, tasks, and scheduling widget sync'd with gmail
6. Facebook (Free, Market) Its Facebook
7. Music, Android (Free, Market) Music Player
8. GTasks (Free, Market) Alternative Task Manager/Organiser
9. Google Search (Free, Stock)
10. Youtube (Free, Market)
As you can see, there is a common theme. I'm a cheapskate! Nothing but free stuff! *I'm on the look out for an alternative free Music Player (with a widget), and a widget for a calculator that has a "%" button.
