There are a lot of battery apps/widgets out there. Some are cool and helpful, and some are awful and full of fail. So here comes the question and it is simple. What battery widget do ya all use? I use vizBattery.

When not connected to 3G or wifi do any apps or widgets use battery power when not in use, for example the twitter and facebook apps/widgets would use power right to update peoples status
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a G1, love it, but it has a wimpy battery as many of us know. I have been wondering if widgets, desktop icons and even the choice of wallpaper, or picture that is used for the desktop background make any real difference in battery life. No matter how I use the phone, the display is always the main or at least major component of battery usage.
I read on an android website that desktop widgets do tax the battery and it was also suggested that having all three desktops full of icons also does so. Lastly, I was thinking that a black desktop ( I took a picture of a piece of black paper ) would use the least battery because the screen is not producing any light. Any input on these things ? If it would give appreciably better battery life, I would black out the desktops as I have done and not have any icons or widgets.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSome of the Samsung phones have a toggle bar for GPS, wifi, ect. that can be pulled down from the notification bar. Does anyone know of an app that mimics this? I've looked in the market but didn't find anything that similar. Also a simple 3 button media player option would be useful that way you don't have to switch apps just to skip a song or stop the player. Is there anything like that out there at all?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy apps widgets arent updating according to the settings. For example, weather bug widget, and Google finance, and engadget. I have to click into the app itself to get it to appear correctly. Sorta defeats the purpose of a widget! Is there another parent setting that is preventing this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got the ADW.Launcher and I'm finding it to be FANTASTIC, much better than Sense and Launcher Pro IMO. I FINALLY got skype and it's amazing too. The big thing those it that I finally threw some widgets onto my desktop - namely You Tube, Google Search, and the Power Control thing. The power control is really nifty and makes it so easy to control blue tooth, wifi, gps. Are these going to kill my battery life? I don't' use live wallpapers and I make sure I don't have a ton of apps running in the background.

Which widgets use battery life even during sleep mode/when the homescreen ISN'T actively being displayed? I was under the impression that homescreen widgets don't load until you swipe to that homescreen (except for Twitter of course). The Facebook and YouTube widgets always load up with new status updates and videos recommended for me after I turn my phone from sleep mode. These widgets are all on one screen, so if I wake my phone up and swipe to the screen with Facebook and Youtube, they will show facebook status updates that say like updated 2 mins ago and Youtube will have the slideshow going of videos recommended for me. Also, does the official HTC battery widget cause high battery drain? I may to look at my friend's Droid at work and see how he gets 2 days of battery life. He doesn't seem like he would lie about it, and says when he uses the web it dies fast. However, he did say that it pulls his email automatically for him so he must not be turning 3G off.

I am trying to figure out what is draining my battery.Looking at the battery usage it says: Display 90%.My display is at 15% brightness. Shutdown time is 2 minutes.I installed Beautiful Widgets yesterday.Is this the culprit?

As you may know, current Android stock Home doesn't support it, and HTC Sense doesn't provide any API.We propose to create an open source standard for an Home extension code allowing devs to create 3rd party widgets which support scrolling (list view).The principe have been implemented, and succesfully tested in Home++ and Pure messenger widget.Now, after discussing with other Home creators, we'd like to generalize this and include it in other Home applications. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wondering what actually happens with all the apps and widgets that come with Sense UI. I assume none of them will work anymore once the Desire is rooted? Or will they stay and still be useable? Can you download them somewhere again from HTC for example and install on a rooted device?
I heard of custom Roms that will let you root the device and still use some HTC apps. Is that correct or is there no such thing?
Finally, a question that might be a bit of speculation currently. With HTC introducing the new www.htcsense.com website with features such as SMS backup for life, contact editing, app shop, etc.... some of the stuff like the SMS backup sound very interesting but now I am wondering if these features will be available for rooted devices. Anybody has any ideas about that?
Would be kind of unfair if rooted devices could not use this HTC service.

If clicking the widget just opens the program then to me it's not really a widget even if the program creates an entry in the add widgets menu. So what are your favorites?
A friend got a Desire yesterday and is having a rather odd problem with it - she put the power control widget on one of the screens, set the news feed to the BBC, and then downloaded a couple of apps (angry birds etc). When she downloaded these the powercontrol widget disappeared and the news feed 'unset' itself from the BBC.Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening or how to stop it?
