My alarm was working fine now the notification is no longer sounding. All other sounds, sms gmail email etc are ok. If you try and change the sound to a stock sound they don't sound either (so I don't think its to do with the SD card). Any ideas?

My notification and alarm sound has stopped working however when I go to play music off my phone it still works.
I have gone into the Volume section under Sound and tried to mess with the volume levels. When I turn the alarm level up to the highest it can go, instead of playing my alarm sound it plays a very faint beeping noise. When I turn up my notification level it makes a similar beeping noise.
For the past two days my alarm goes off, the phone vibrates, but there's no sound it's only the noise of the vibrate that wakes me up.This is a recent thing, I've checked the volume is up, I don't have a taskiller installed, I've set and reset the alarm sound to go off, but even when I go into settings to change the sound, if I select a new sound it doesn't ring out. However, if I go to change my ringtone, that does make a sound. I've turned the phone on and off, I've deleted and set new alarms to no avail.I just don't get it... can anyone help? Software version is 1.0.0.A6288, firmware 1.5 if that helps. Installed new OS about a month ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night I was bored and browsing through my soundboards looking for a new ringtone. I was opening and closing apps, running task killer, if I thought it necessary. Everything was fine, until all of a sudden my media volume stopped working. On screen, while I'm playing media, I can pull the volume up and down, but no sound comes out. The Alarm volume, and ringer volume continue to work. So this morning I snooped around the forums and decided to reset my phone. All was going well, until I accidentally played some mp3's that were on my SD card. Now the media volume has stopped working again and when I turn on my phone, my music app has attached itself to that screen that you have to pull down to log in.
I didn't request that, and can't find a way to turn that off in the settings. To be honest, I am a new user. I've had my hero for two weeks, and I'd love to know that my problems are user error and not a faulty phone. I've also re-downloaded task killer and am wondering if that was a bad choice. I'm still at the point of just playing with my phone: launching apps, installing, uninstalling, etc, and it seemed like a good idea. In a worst case scenario, I'm thinking of deleting the mp3's and doing another reset. But if I have to keep doing this regularly, the exercise will get a little old.
I use my phone for a work alarm and have it set to repeat during the week, I had to work at a different office yesterday so set a new alarm, this failed to go off, I thought it was just that I set it wrong but this morning my regular alarm failed to go off too.I've checked the volume controls and everything is set to high volume, I can't see anything that would stop it from going off?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set a notification sound for both my ring and notification. When I recieve my text messages now, the phone only vibrates. It used to always give me the notification sound as well. Ringer notification is fine. It is not set in the vibrate mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so sometime yesterday my headphone jack just stopped working; the sound would only come out of the phone even with a headphone plugged in. I took the headphones out, turned it off, and turned it back on. Working again, no problem. Now today, I'm listening to music and realize I'm only getting sound out of one earbud. I thought it was weird for a headphone to blow out since I just recently got it in March, but I figured it must've just been that - a blown out earbud. However, my friend tried his headphones in there just to make sure, and the same thing happened. He wasn't getting sound out of his left (or right, not sure) earbud. I've tried turning it off and on with the headphones out, the headphones in, as well as downloading that headphone jack toggler from another thread I found on here. Same problem. :/ Is my headphone jack done for? Am I gonna have to get it replaced? Will the basic warranty even cover something like this? I guarantee I didn't drop it or get it submerged in water or anything...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC hero on Orange last week and it's great - everything worked great, but after a day the headphone jack stopped working: when I plug in the headphones they aren't recognised by the device, eg : music will carry on playing on the speaker instead of playing in headphones. Happens with other headphones too not just the supplied ones. I've reset the device with factory settings but no joy. Was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? Orange have agreed to exchange the device but only when they have new devices in stock later on in the week. Was wondering if a firmware re-install might fix it but not sure how to do it and if would be a waste of time if it's a hardware issue.

I set an mp3 to be my ringtone the other day, and when i did it, I had a play with the trimmer, but just decided to use the whole thing in the end. The point being that the trimmer was definitely working. Today I went to change to a different MP3, and wanted to trim, but the trimmer is not working. It seems to think the mp3 is 0 seconds long:
The big "timer" at the top shows 00:00, as does the small one to the right, next to the stopwatch. Both "speech bubbles" above either end of the time bar are empty and greyed out Timer to the left of the bar says 00:00 Lefthand slider (with the 6 dots) is green, but right hand one is grey.
Vista Ultimate 32 bit. after installing htc sync 2.04 (and any other version I can find). I get capi_worker module stopped working message on reboot.
I've tried all the options I can find regarding adding com ports - updating sony drivers etc. anyone had this - got a working fix?
For some reason downloads from the market has stopped working... I haven't been able to download anything from the market in the last hour... The download just sits at 'Starting Download' but never starts... I heard that you have to hack/root your phone to download market apps if you're using a European or Telus Hero in the states but when i first got the phone I was downloading apps just fine so I figured that was false... any idea how to go about finding out what's wrong? it still charges but i don't get the notification that usb is connected or the option to mount the phone. meaning i can swap files with the laptop.
m using the usb cable that came with the phone.
is there a setting i may have altered by mistake that could cause this to happen?

View 41 Replies View RelatedI recieved an error two days ago saying "out of disk space". After restoring my phone to factory the ability to receive MMS/SMS went kaput! Surprisingly I can send but not receive messages. I was on the phone with Sprint for hours with to technicians. One of the techs implied that some of the early batch of phones from Best Buy have this issue. This is just one of the techs viewpoint. I am going to swap the phone today and see if it resolves the issue. I switched to Sprint specifically for TEXT so this could be a deal breaker. More to follow.
