Looks like the motorola droid is getting an ota today. Common where is the eris updates!
There are so many threads about updating my Eris to 2.1 - I don't know which one to use. Can someone point me in the direction of downloading the correct file with instructions.
View 19 Replies View RelatedNot sure if there is a thread for this, but my wife has the Eris and declined the 2.1 update. She has not been prompted for the update since. I want to do the upgrade to her phone because it will fix some issues that she is having. I haven't gone to verizon yet but wanted to see if you guys know anything.
View 34 Replies View RelatedSo if my phone becomes a paper weight after the OTA rolls out then Verizon did it on purpose right? You can't tell me they can't force the OTA to override the leaked version. I would think they would force all the phones to update to their version of the OS. Therefore, if my phone bricks after the OTA then they are just being jerks right?

I set our phones up the same way, but hers requires a password.

View 29 Replies View RelatedSo i found this link from theunlockr.com which shows you how to root your eris and put 2.1 on it. I want 2.1 but i am not sure about the root. Any cons to rooting? Will i still receive ota updates? Anything i can do with rooted eris that i can't do with non-rooted that would make the phone a lot better? I don't want to overclock it i am just looking for more options with the phone. Will i lose all my contacts and apps by doing this? Can i use different apps like the ones the moto droid can use but i can't because i am on 1.5?

View 6 Replies View Relatedi havent been postin much but have been lurking hardcore cus of 2.1 and root updates. anyways before anyone else gets their 2.1 OTA, please do us all an altruistic favor
1)Deny the OTA update when the phone prompts you, dont worry you can manually get this later.
2)Install the SDK and ADB on your computer and run the command
Ever since 2.1 my phone doesn't vibrate for SMS/MMS. I use the native messenger and I have notifications on and vibrate on, but it only vibrates for calls when in vibrate mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my daughters Eris to 2.1 worked fine for a few days, now she can't make any phone calls and gets a message that VZW is "unable to authenticate" her phone, she can receive incoming calls and all other features. I am not experiencing this on my Eris with 2.1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.
Now that I have rooted and done the 2.1 update 2 days later Verison plans to update the phone. my question is is there a way to urn on the OTA update for the rooted Eris? If not then I am sure there will be an updated ROM that covers all the OTA stuff, but I was just wondering if there was a way to turn on OTA.
View 22 Replies View RelatedGot my phone rooted with Unrevoked3.I have not applied -s off. I have not updated the radio, flashed ROM, or changed kernel- just running stock.I have installed some root only apps and removed City ID, Twitter, and Peep.So what should I do if the expected OTA update comes through? Can I apply the update on a rooted phone? I believe from what I have read that I would have to unroot and revert to stock in the box.Do I want to apply the update? If I apply the update with -s on will I permanently lose root?(I have too much faith in the droid community and xda-dev to really believe this would be more than a temporary problem)

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust wondering how often people choose to update their applications. I currently have about 13 updates available, but I hate that the updates ADD to the size of the app instead of replacing what you have. Eventually, after updating Google Maps a few more times, the thing is gonna be over 10MB... not that that is HUGE necessarily but a few apps like that, that keep adding on 1 or 2 MB per update will definitely add up. Sometimes I will uninstall and reinstall again, so as not to end up with a much bigger file size-- however, I'm not sure that always works as I think it should. Anyhoo, what is your application update process? Update all? None? Just ones you think are necessary? Also, sometimes updates are awful, so I try to read comments before updating, although there is usually someone who's not happy no matter what.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the "If you've got it, Flaunt it" thread has been hijacked, maybe a poll would be the best way to track this update. When you get the update, let us know which version you were running before. DO NOT VOTE UNTIL YOU RECEIVE THE OTA.
The approximately date/time you received the OTA and your location as a reply. Let's try to keep this thread free of any other chitchat.
