I installed the 2.1 update twice yesterday, once on my phone, once on my the wifes.My phone is working perfectly, her is asking for a password to unlock.My question is what the password for my wifes phone is when I didn't set a password up for her. I set our phones up the same way, but hers requires a password.

Occasionally, the slide down to unlock doesn't work on my Eris, although right now is a first: It repeatedly won't let me unlock it despite putting it to sleep, then waking it up, etc.
Usually a quick sleep and then up will solve it, but I can't unlock it.
Is there any way I can fix this besides removing the battery...This will be the third time in 3 days I have to remove the battery. The first two were when my screen stayed black and wouldn't turn on...
How can i shut off the password to unlock the phone. With 1.5 the patter wasn't as annoying as having to type a password every time my phone sleeps and then i want to do something and have to type a password every time.
Can i shut this off. I can't find it under security settings.
I am having a problem with the HTC Weather Widget not updating when I unlock my phone. I click on the widget and bring up the settings and check the "Update Automatically" I get a "Data Warning"- This may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. Enable automatic download of weather data? and I click yes. Yet it wont save and it keeps coming unchecked after I exit the widget. I even tried hitting now and I tried a soft reset.

In my pocket it did the wrong lock pattern five times and now it is asking me to put my email and password in to unlock it. The problEm is that the keyboard does not come up even when I hold menu.
I was wondering, is there a way to have the screen come on and/or have the phone unlock when you get a text message or email notification?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using Aloysius Snow ROM (which I like very much) - and one of the things I like is that to unlock the screen I have to swipe from left to right (and, even better, if I swipe the other direction, I can toggle sound off and sound on - fast way to mute/unmute!). I was thinking of trying a different ROM, just for the heck of it, but I very much do not want to go with a ROM that requires a top to bottom unlock swipe.
The question, therefore, is - which direction does which ROM require for unlocking?
show a co-worker how to update to 2.2 today on his X.now he has to put his "pin" code in every time he wakes up the phone and he's not happy anyone know how to stop that?

You can't tell me they can't force the OTA to override the leaked version. I would think they would force all the phones to update to their version of the OS. Therefore, if my phone bricks after the OTA then they are just being jerks right?

Will i still receive ota updates? Anything i can do with rooted eris that i can't do with non-rooted that would make the phone a lot better? I don't want to overclock it i am just looking for more options with the phone. Will i lose all my contacts and apps by doing this? Can i use different apps like the ones the moto droid can use but i can't because i am on 1.5?

1)Deny the OTA update when the phone prompts you, dont worry you can manually get this later.
2)Install the SDK and ADB on your computer and run the command
Ever since 2.1 my phone doesn't vibrate for SMS/MMS. I use the native messenger and I have notifications on and vibrate on, but it only vibrates for calls when in vibrate mode.

Is there a way of completely disabling the slide unlock to answer the phone? Using the Green to answer, Red to deny works perfectly well. I want it like an "olden-days" dumb phone. Is it at all possible to modify/flash the ROM to render the screen inactive for this? Most threads point to unlocker apps, but I'm trying to avoid them.
