What is that number you dial to make the Eris look for an update? Something like "#*#*something#*#*" but I don't remember exactly.
I read somewhere here I believe, although I can't find it now. That there is a way to make the phone ask for confirmation before you dial the number? Specifically I am inadvertantly dialing my favorites, I would like the phone to ask before dialing.
I am running LEAKED 2.1
While using the speed dial widget that comes with the Eris, is there a way to put two contacts of the same person in, but with different numbers? For example,I want both my fiance's cell and his work number in those 9 slots, but I can only choose one as the default and if I go to add him in another slot, he isn't even available as a choice under my People.I can make him a wholly separate contact for his work info obviously, but I was just wondering if there was a sleeker way?

Can you please give me a clue if this can be done?
When I tried to activate my phone, it wouldn't work. So I called Verizon from my landline and I told them and they had me activate it manually. They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). I'm just curious as to what's in here. Does anyone remember the number? I can't remember it for the love of me and it's not in my call log.

View 42 Replies View RelatedI updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.
smart dial on my phone only search phone number in phonebook but not searching contact name. It was working before, not sure before or after rooting the phone though.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI do not want my phone to vibrate when dialing a phone number on the stock dialer. I've been looking for the right menu item that controls this unwanted (on my part) feature of my otherwise perfect Evo. Anybody know where to find the setting that turns off the phone dialer vibrations?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a stock 2.1 Eris. As a phone, it is a flaming turd. Phone-dial lag can be so bad the phone can be making a call minutes after I've hit the button to call. Once a week it is so screwed up that the phone thinks it is in a conference call with the same number at the same time. Because after a minute or two of no call being initiated, silly me, I dial again. Eventually both calls take place. I wind up talking to my wife while I'm also leaving some bogus voice mail at her same number. As it stands, this phone is literally an embarrassment. All of these problems started immediately after the 2.1 OTA update. Yes, I've done a factory reset. I've cleared my call log. Blah blah blah. I just want a phone that can dial without getting all "Special Olympics" on me. Simple question: Will rooting fix this kind of problem?
View 25 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone to 2.1 via the OTA update. Noticed that the really annoying vibration for home, menu, back, and search is finally gone!
But allowing you to turn off all vibration would be just too uncool. So HTC invented yet another !@#$ vibration when the phone connects after you press dial.
Is there a way to turn this off? I looked everywhere but can't find any option to do this.
Seriously? Anyone able to switch it? I cant seem to figure it out.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out new ROM's and it's been fun. Here is my biggest headache with doing this. I have about 10 contacts that are Direct Dial (speed dial to the rest of the world). What I do is put them in a folder as a shortcut to prevent accidental dialing. But I have to constantly redo this set up. Is there a way to save a folder and it's contents, such as direct dial numbers, to my sd card and bring it back with each new ROM or launcher? Starred folder doesn't work for me as it's more clicking when I am driving. The app Direct Dial still takes several clicks.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting, app, etc. that will make the "dial pad" show by default when I make a phone call?
Basically, there are few numbers I dial that use an automated system and I'm required to press certain numbers to continue and I grow tired of selecting the number pad myself.
It's not as important on incoming calls, but would be nice there as well I guess.
I cracked my screen and got a replacement. I am trying to activate the old phone after I have preformed a factory reset. It asked me to input a phone number for activation. I do not want to do this. what are my options.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy BB had a cool feature that I have not found in the Eris yet. It would automatically recognize phone numbers in emails. It turned them into a link. When you clicked it, it would dial the number. Saves you from having to remember it or copy/paste into phone app.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I a call is dialing or is hung up, random pictures of the android character pop up, like him playing baseball, eating a hot dog, sitting at a desk, playing guitar in the park... etc. Does anyone know what caused this to start? what program maybe? and a way to turn it off? I think it started right after I rooted my droid, it kind of acts like a screen saver type thing. I've waited a while to see if anything has popped up on the forums, and nothing has, it's annoying lol. oh and My phone will not dial *228, just goes back to home screen
View 11 Replies View RelatedIt is my first smartphone. I put in all my contacts manually so that I could get the feel of the phone and learn the basics. On all my previous stupid phones, the contact phone number automatically formated to 901-555-1212. With the Eris it is 9015551212. Anyway to change this? I have searched other threads with the same question but no one ever replies. I have search the net with no luck. Should I just take it that there is no way to automatically change this. I have gone through and put in the extra ticks between the numbers manually but that is a pain in the arse.
