So if my phone becomes a paper weight after the OTA rolls out then Verizon did it on purpose right? You can't tell me they can't force the OTA to override the leaked version. I would think they would force all the phones to update to their version of the OS. Therefore, if my phone bricks after the OTA then they are just being jerks right?

So I just installed the a home update, it installs so i click on the home button, select to make a home my default home app and then I get a "force close" over and over. So i turn off my phone, turn it back on and now it wont go past the android screen(blinking android guy). WTF?! What are my options?

View 35 Replies View RelatedBeen using my iPhone 4 for the past few weeks and finally broke the Evo back out to compare it for a few weeks. When I turned it on I got the notice for update so I did it thinking maybe it would help with the random reboot problem I had been having. Well after the update it sticks at the white HTC screen. I have tried all the basic fixes, held down volume/power, clear storage, recovery. When I clear storage it reboots and hangs at white screen again, if I do recovery I get a picture of a phone with a red triangle with a ! in it. Any way to re-flash the phone or something to get it working? I assume If i can get something on the little SD card but how do I do that when the phone won't work? I'd really like to not have to deal with getting it replaced.

Will i still receive ota updates? Anything i can do with rooted eris that i can't do with non-rooted that would make the phone a lot better? 1)Deny the OTA update when the phone prompts you, dont worry you can manually get this later.
2)Install the SDK and ADB on your computer and run the command
Ever since 2.1 my phone doesn't vibrate for SMS/MMS. I use the native messenger and I have notifications on and vibrate on, but it only vibrates for calls when in vibrate mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.
I'm in Canada and my service provider is Rogers, however I bought the phone in Hong Kong. At first, I rooted my Galaxy S i9000 so I can remove the stock apps, but I couldn't seem to unroot it so I flashed the firmware. At first it said "failed" so I had to reboot it back into download mode to start the flashing again. I forgot to put on the back cover during the flash and the battery fell out. Now when I turn on my Galaxy S, it stays on the welcome screen where it says "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung" and does not do anything. Is my phone bricked and what can I do to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter several attempts trying to apply Lag Fix, my phone ended up doing endless boot loops and due to my ROMs being on the SD Card instead of Internal SD, I could not flash it and seem to not have access to somehow get the ROM file from External to Internal SD. I then tried to restore the Stock ROM through Odin and it failed miserably, with several stalls that eventually led to the screen shown below. This screen stays on when I press the power button and nothing else seems to work. Removing SIM and SD Cards also did nothing.Phone is still under warranty and I have insurance, but not sure if I can claim warranty in its current state.
