May 16, 2010I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I have searched around and i have not found a good explanation as to why those with the 2.1v3 leak cannot manually install the official OTA file that was posted here.
Anyone have an explanation for this? I read that it has something to do with a different HBOOT, but I'm not really understanding it. Do you think we will every be able to get the OTA so that we can go root? I quickly jumped to the 2.1v3 leak without fully understanding the benefits of root and now, after more research, I really want to go root.

Dec 12, 2009I manually updated my Eris the other night and I must say I am happy with the update, it has really helped with my battery. What I have done is installed Battery Indicator by Darshan Computing. This puts a battery percentage indicator in the notifications area. I have set the built in timer for an hour and when it goes off I make a note of the battery in form of a percentage. Here is what I have so far.

May 16, 2010Received my 2.1 OTA at 1:36 AM last night and ever since, I can't manually lock my phone by short pressing the power button anymore. I thought maybe this was a Spare Parts issue, since I had changed the Power Button behavior on 1.5 using Spare Parts (when I pressed Power from any screen, it would return me Home; pressing from Home would Lock). So, I uninstalled Spare Parts, but this didn't remedy my problem. Any advice?

Aug 16, 2010So I bought a rooted Droid from a friend. Everything works fine. The phone came with the rooted version of 2.2 on it. Now the problem.
When I go to download a ROM, it downloads, gives me the option to reboot in recovery (which would install the ROM usually), and when I select that option, it just reboots into the rooted 2.2 I'm currently running.
The first time this happened, I rebooted in recovery manually because the reboot got stuck at the bootloader screen. I then rebooted manually and loaded my previous 2.2 rooted ROM.
Now I can't reboot in recovery manually. Not too sure what to do at this point. I've owned a rooted Droid in the past and had not had any of these problems. I'd like to overclock and play with some other roms. Any help would be appreciated.

Oct 8, 2010I just bought myself a brand-spanking new Samsung Vibrant from T-mobile the other day. I was then informed that the JI6 update was being pushed out via OTA. Only problem is, my plan was to use this thing via wifi only (I bought a 1 month voice-only Flex Plan to activate it). According to T-mobile, if I want any updates, my only choice is to switch over to a monthly data plan (big old $70 a month bill). So I turn to the experts on these forums... is there a way to install these updates manually over wifi? Or is it time to take the phone back?

Feb 7, 2010So I am a total newbie not only to the boards but also to the Eris. So I would like to thank all of you in advance for not flaming me if this is a super simple fix. I have had my eris for about 3 weeks now. Everything works perfectly but over the last few days I can no longer hit the red end call button in order to manually lock my phone. When I press it, my phone does NOTHING. It will however still lock after it is idle for 1 one and it will also open back up when I hit the red button (so I know its not a problem with the physical button). I have restarted it, removed the battery, and deleted apps that were downloaded around the same time this started. I have also checked every setting I can possible think of but can't figure this out.

Jul 27, 2010I'm running White Widow 4.6 with Google Apps installed and JIT on. Not all of my FB contacts are syncing with my phone contacts. For example, my sister is not linked to any FB profile when she should be. The names match up. Most of the people are, but some aren't. I can't find a way to link it manually to her FB profile. All of my contacts sync'd fine with the stock OS. Anybody else have this issue? Do you have a solution? I had the same problem in KaosFroyo v23 and never found a solution.
