Ever since I can remember, I had severe lag when rotating my home screen under 2.1 (usign both the stock launcher and LauncherPro). Basically, we I would rotate from vertical to horizontal or horizontal to vertical, the shortcut icons would display almost instantly, but the widgets could take up to 5 seconds to show up, during which time, the phone was unusable. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling apps, redistributing widgets, etc. and after not getting anywhere, gave up. Two days ago I went to the 2.2 update, and before hand did a complete reset/wipe on the phone. Since then I have reinstalled my apps and manually reconfigured all my settings. Guess what, I still have lag! I read threads all over the place where someone discovers XXX application was causing their phone to lag (K9 mail, Swype, and plenty of others have all been blamed), but without manually going through every possible combination of apps, how can I narrow it down? If this was happening on my computer, I would look at the task manager for something using a lot of RAM or showing CPU spikes, is there an equivalent I can do on android?

It backed up my info fine but it can't locate or lock my phone in both Firefox and IE. View 8 Replies View RelatedJust wondering how often people choose to update their applications. I currently have about 13 updates available, but I hate that the updates ADD to the size of the app instead of replacing what you have. Eventually, after updating Google Maps a few more times, the thing is gonna be over 10MB... not that that is HUGE necessarily but a few apps like that, that keep adding on 1 or 2 MB per update will definitely add up. Sometimes I will uninstall and reinstall again, so as not to end up with a much bigger file size-- however, I'm not sure that always works as I think it should. Anyhoo, what is your application update process? Update all? None? Just ones you think are necessary? Also, sometimes updates are awful, so I try to read comments before updating, although there is usually someone who's not happy no matter what.

So in addition posting questions here, go to Google's issues site and let them know directly! All you need to do is click the link and click the little white star icon. Issues with more stars will theoretically get more attention, so let's let Google know what we want.

Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. View 30 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.
Kinda wish I had just rooted my 1.5 and then gone 2.1 instead of the 2.1 v2 leak now... Is there any update on how to go back? Or is there any word on them rooting 2.1 v2?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

I want to do the upgrade to her phone because it will fix some issues that she is having. I haven't gone to verizon yet but wanted to see if you guys know anything.
