Oct 20, 2010Just wondering how often people choose to update their applications. I currently have about 13 updates available, but I hate that the updates ADD to the size of the app instead of replacing what you have. Eventually, after updating Google Maps a few more times, the thing is gonna be over 10MB... not that that is HUGE necessarily but a few apps like that, that keep adding on 1 or 2 MB per update will definitely add up. Sometimes I will uninstall and reinstall again, so as not to end up with a much bigger file size-- however, I'm not sure that always works as I think it should. Anyhoo, what is your application update process? Update all? None? Just ones you think are necessary? Also, sometimes updates are awful, so I try to read comments before updating, although there is usually someone who's not happy no matter what.

Anyways the question is regarding the 2.1 update. I know many of you are like go search. But the thing is that this question has not been asked a lot from what I have seen on the forum. So considering that Verizon has the update, why are they toying with us and why don't they just release it all over the nation or on the Verizon site already?

Feb 17, 2010I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.

Jun 13, 2010I have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

May 16, 2010Now that I've updated to 2.1, most of the apps (weather and time apps) no longer work correctly.I live in Panama City Beach but these apps continue to tell me I am slightly north of Tallahassee over 100 miles away and in a different time zone. Stays the same regardless of GPS on or off,I have deleted and re-installed all of the offending programs and that didn't help either.Everything was great prior to the update.
