HTC Droid Eris : Contacts Favorites Missing In 2.1?
Mar 6, 2010Has anyone noticed the favorites icon with the heart missing in 2.1? It used to be on the call screen and i thing the contact screen?

Feb 11, 2010My fiance and I both got the Eris last week, and we both got our contacts transfered from our old phones (hers was LG EnV Touch). We both had existing Gmail accounts which were setup by the Verizon techs at the store as well. The other day, she started telling me that she was getting this weird message on her phone "Too Many Contact Deletes" or something to that effect. I disregarded it as nothing, and carried on until tonight.
She called me freaking out that all her favorite people in her HTC Favorites Widget were gone, including me, and that my number just showed up when i called her, no name, no picture, just number. So I had her check her People list and she said they were all still there, except that all their Phone Numbers were missing. I quickly logged into her GMail account to confirm, sure enough, everyone was still there, but all the numbers were gone.
I did some research and found a little bit on the error message she got originally, but nothing about random deletion of contacts phone numbers. I still have her LG EnV Touch here with all her contacts, and am contemplating deleting all of her Gmail contacts, all of her Phone contacts and then importing the list into GMail, and syncing with the phone. Is that what you would do? I'm worried that this will happen again. What is this caused by and how does she prevent this in the future?

Jun 7, 20101. Is it me or have they removed the Search feature in the People app in 2.1? I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.

Jul 17, 2010I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

May 18, 2010So i was having issue with my favorites disappearing. It was a pain with my Favorite People widget.It has to do with your sync. To fix it, you have to go to the gmail website and add your favorites to the website. If you don't it will keep syncing your favorites with the site, thus the disappearing. I would think it should be a 2 way sync, but I guess not. Either that or this is a syncing bug

Aug 7, 2010A friend of mine has the HTC Incredible and asked me, since I have the Eris and they are pretty similar, how to change the default action in Favorite people. When he set up his wife as a favorite, he accidentally chose to "send text" as the default action. He wants to change it to dial her cell number. I read the instructions for my Eris on how to do this.It tells me "To change the default communication method for a favorite contact, press and hold the contact, and then tap Change default action."When I do this, I do not get an option to change default action. Same for him.

I was trying to figure out how to delete one of those contacts from my favorites and I sent the whole screen into the remove box and deleted it (I've since figured out how to remove a singe contact). How do I get that screen back?

May 7, 2010I actually noticed this on V2 leak as well when I set up my favorites list, and then select that person for the first time, I'm prompted to set up a default action - that default is never saved, and I have to repeat those steps in order to dial a number - anyone have this problem? Is there a step I'm missing?

Mar 29, 2010I have had the Eris for 3 days now and I mostly get the hang of it. I'm running 2.1 (newest build).
Last night I linked all the contacts in "people" with Facebook (for people that are on FB). When I press "phone" now it lists nearly all my facebook friends. I did not add them. How did this happen? Oddly it did not do all of them. It stopped half way through the Ts. As much as I like all my "friends" there are least 200 of them I do not want listed on my "phone" list. How can I remove them from the phone list? There does not appear to be any way to delete them. When I do the "people" program they are not listed there. Is there anyway to remove these friends from the phone list and if I do will the phone try to put them back there?
Is there any way to have multiple phone numbers for the same person in favorites? I want to have my wife with her cell number and her work number there. It appears that I can only have her once in favorites with one number. It would also work if I could select which number when I pressed her button. It does not look like this is possible. Any ideas?
HTC EVO 4G :: Contacts In Favorites Widget
Oct 19, 2010I have one GMail account synced to my EVO. When I open up 'People' all my contacts I added through GMail are there. Looks great.
However, when I go to the Favorites widget and click + to add a contact to the widget, I get a list of pretty much everyone I've ever sent an email to through my GMail account. I only want my real contacts to show up there, I don't need the dude listed there that I sold my blender to on Craigslist from 5 years ago.

Nov 28, 2009I know that they were listed in my contacts so I looked them up and to my suprise they were gone. As I looked around I found that ALL my Starred "favorite" contacts were missing. I checked online at the Google website and found the same names missing from my contact list. It was only the Starred names thet were missing. Aug 3, 2010If you have missing contacts in your contact list (even if all contacts is selected) but when you search for them they come up, here is the worlds easiest fix. Log into your google mail on your computers browser, click "contacts". In the left hand column the 1st row says "my contacts", note the total.Now 2nd to the bottom there it says "all contacts". If that total is more, click on it. At the top of the list of names click "all", In the column to the right there is a box that says "add to my contacts", Dont worry it will not duplicate contacts. Click on "add to my contacts" Now after this my phone started syncing contacts automatically, if yours does not, force the sync in the settings, accounts, google. as soon as its done, your missing contacts are now displayed.

Nov 9, 2009When I synced facebook contacts, I had a handful of contacts that duplicated, meaning there was the facebook info and their info from my regular contacts list. In each case, I selected the entry that did not have the facebook info and chose to delete that entry. When I did that, for some reason the entry with the facebook info is the one that disappeared. So, I just deleted the other contact entry too. Then when I added the contact back in, facebook wouldn't sync with it. So now, even though these contacts DO have a facebook account and are still listed as my friends, facebook will not sync with those contacts. I even tried the option of syncing ALL facebook friends and the handful of friends I did this with will not come back. Anyone experience this? If you delete a contact with facebook info once, is it impossible to sync back the facebook option?

Dec 15, 2009I logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.

Jan 19, 2010When I first got my Eris I remember that it was all over the HTC website as their new phone on Verizon. I know that the Nexus One has come out and been the center of attention but the Eris seems no where to be found. If you do a search on the site you can find the user manual(PDF) and some press release but that's about it. I sent an email to them asking whats up but has anyone else noticed this? This really worries me that it is gone, specially when I am expecting a nice 2.1 update(fingers crossed) on the 22nd.I don't know what was up but I just check back and the site is completely different then it was 10mins ago and I mean like a total makeover. I must have been sent over to a backup server that doesn't run flash and is out of date or something. Even the search results came back different!
