maybe it just isn't there, but I am trying to locate the backslash character () on the Eris keyboard. I can easily see the forwardslash character ( / ) but the backslash is what I need to setup my Exchange account on the phone. Does anybody have any ideas?

I'm looking for a third party app/keyboard that features the | character; that straight up and down vertical line character. I need it to log into my email, but the stock keyboard doesn't seem to feature it. Anyone have any good ideas?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just updated my SGS to Froyo via the registry hack but I noticed one small problem in the music app. Every last character on the album is missing (e.g. Pearl Jam's "Binaural" displays as "Binaura") I'm not using mp3s but flacs which may be the cause of the problem. I notice in Eclair that the music app does not recognize flac ID3 tags but in Froyo, it recognizes the album art and album name but not the artist. Great, but the missing last letter in every album's name is super annoying.

I'm aware of Verizon's limit on text messaging characters but this is odd.I can send texts going beyond 160 characters but when I receive them, that's when the trouble starts. I'll get the text broken up into 2-3 separate texts, but always followed up by another message stating "Media Objects were removed...". Then, the person sending the text receives a message stating their text may have not been received. This is all between Verizon to Verizon customers.Anyone know what's going on? or how to fix it? Did not have this problem with other Verizon phones so I'm guessing it's only applying to the Droid/Eris?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've only seen this mentioned once or twice but one thing that annoys me with the update is the character number that's displayed when typing a text. Why did they have to put a black box counter right in the messaging window when typing in portrait mode? After creating a message, that box covers part of the last word in the first line. And when flipping it to landscape the character box disappears!!?! I shouldn't have to turn the phone to read back what I just typed.The concept of displaying the amount of characters left is a welcome feature but the execution is really poor. I would think it would be obvious to place it in another area outside of the field that you're actually interacting with.

When I include sign in a text, I get a message on the screen saying "Compatibility Warning - your sms include some special character (RED BACKGROUND), if you send it from t-mobile to other carriers, it will cause the message can't go through". View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a TextWatcher set on an EditText that changes the input type after a user types a number followed by a space. If the user types two numbers the input type switches and accepts the next character, but if the user types only one number and presses space the input type still changes but it won't accept the first character the user tries to input. I've tested this on Froyo and 1.6, it only happens on Froyo, 1.6 works like it should.

Check me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't the 2.1 update for the Droid supposed to include multi-touch on the keyboard? Mine definitely doesn't appear to have this functionality (as observed while holding down one key and pressing another one). Does this mean I have to go back to Better Keyboard and some other such app? Am I missing something here?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom what information I can gather from the web, android browser shortcuts are comprised of MENU + X combinations. Is there an equivalent for the Eris? I do not see how this works given the lack of a real keyboard. To open the keyboard take a separate action and when holding MENU to then click the appropriate letter, all you get is the menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my Eris I remember that it was all over the HTC website as their new phone on Verizon. I know that the Nexus One has come out and been the center of attention but the Eris seems no where to be found. If you do a search on the site you can find the user manual(PDF) and some press release but that's about it. I sent an email to them asking whats up but has anyone else noticed this? This really worries me that it is gone, specially when I am expecting a nice 2.1 update(fingers crossed) on the 22nd.I don't know what was up but I just check back and the site is completely different then it was 10mins ago and I mean like a total makeover. I must have been sent over to a backup server that doesn't run flash and is out of date or something. Even the search results came back different!

View 4 Replies View RelatedBeen on 2.1v3 since it came out and just today I noticed in the market a couple of games are now showing in my Downloads as Purchased. I bought them back on 1.5 and haven't seen them since the 2.1v1,2,3 updates.
They are SmartPix games Tan'n'Feed and CrystalLight Defence ( and they are great to play, by the way ).
Anyway, I'm 99.9% positive they have not been in my Downloads in the Market since I started down the 2.1 path. Now they are...weird.
Wonder if the 2.1 rollout triggered something in the marketplace?
Has anyone noticed the favorites icon with the heart missing in 2.1? It used to be on the call screen and i thing the contact screen?

Just curious he has an idears or anyone here has come up with anything.AppBrain was able to add it to my list online, but when I sync'd on my phone and selected it, all it does is launch the Market app with a search term for that app, so it doesn't show up.This kinda makes me think that 2.1 #2 is not final.

For some reason my phone will be asleep for just a short time, then I click to wake it up and my notification shows up then, but if I hadnt woke the phone up it wouldnt alert me even though its set to check and notify. This happening to anyone else?

I just signed up on this forum the other day on a whim and a thread thats still floating hereabouts. I thought I'd never have any questions because lurking solves most of that. I've long since learned that forum participation, while entertaining, is very time consuming if not relegated strictly to office downtime. Alas I have a problem, and I beseech this wise forum for wisdom.
Righto, so I love my Eris and have had barely any problems. Sure it lags a bit but I'm not rooted so its my own fault. I've had a problem the last two days with the SD card. Basically my phone suddenly starts saying the SD card is missing. Which is total BS since its still in there like a good little card. So like any reasonably technical person would do I popped it in and out. Lo and behold it works again. I think nothing of it and go about my business until it happens again later that day. Wtf right. So i pop that sucker out again, and reinsertion cured the problem.
At this point I'm slightly annoyed but just happy that my Eris works reasonably well. Seriously I had just finished telling someone, I could see myself keeping this phone even if I could upgrade. But the problem recurred even worse.
This morning all was well and my Eris woke me up to a bright sunny day. Except after a bit of browsing online suddenly my SD card flips out again. But heres the catch, reinserting didn't help. Reinserting it twice didn't help. So again like any reasonable person I powered it on and off. Didn't help. I then powered it off, took out the card. Waited, then put it back in then powered up. Didn't help. Folks this took a lot of patience because I have some classes to go to today, and not a lot of time to mess around. I then powered down, powered up, and then reinserted again once everything settled down.
Didn't help... In fact the problem got worse. Now its telling me the "SD card is empty." "Well this is frelling great", I thought to myself. I desperately reinserted to an even worse message. "The SD card is damaged and needs to be formatted." At this point I'm rapidly losing faith in this Eris that has kept me all the way since December. Reinserted once again... and didn't help.
I wasn't about to give up, after maybe a few more times it finally reads and I hastily backed up the card to my desktop. I'm relieved but unnerved. My first inclination is to whine to Verizon. Afterall they did swap this phone out 3 times already in the past, I had this weird restarting problem which they couldn't figure out. I had to run countless tests on my own which were never conclusive, but seemed to be related to app installations. It eventually went away so I stopped complaining Late May and got this 4th phone. Meaning I had my original, swapped out once, swapped out twice, swapped out thrice.
So this could be the opportunity for a new phone. Do I want a nice new model, yes. Am I willing to keep my Eris, also yes. As you all know its very aesthetically pleasing and conveniently portable. I'm trying to figure out what I should do next.
I have an HTC Magic running 1.6, but this has been happening since I've had the phone. Basically, when using the default keyboard (which, incidentally, seems tonnes better since the update - it's made me not care that HTC IME doesn't work) it'll sometimes miss usually two key presses. And the phone physically recognizes then, because they pop up above my finger, but they never appear in the text entry field. It's bizarre - does it happen to anyone else, and does anyone else know how to fix it? (Incidentally, does anyone else regularly hit the key instead of space bar by accident. It annoys the piss out of me.)

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy fiance and I both got the Eris last week, and we both got our contacts transfered from our old phones (hers was LG EnV Touch). We both had existing Gmail accounts which were setup by the Verizon techs at the store as well. The other day, she started telling me that she was getting this weird message on her phone "Too Many Contact Deletes" or something to that effect. I disregarded it as nothing, and carried on until tonight.
She called me freaking out that all her favorite people in her HTC Favorites Widget were gone, including me, and that my number just showed up when i called her, no name, no picture, just number. So I had her check her People list and she said they were all still there, except that all their Phone Numbers were missing. I quickly logged into her GMail account to confirm, sure enough, everyone was still there, but all the numbers were gone.
I did some research and found a little bit on the error message she got originally, but nothing about random deletion of contacts phone numbers. I still have her LG EnV Touch here with all her contacts, and am contemplating deleting all of her Gmail contacts, all of her Phone contacts and then importing the list into GMail, and syncing with the phone. Is that what you would do? I'm worried that this will happen again. What is this caused by and how does she prevent this in the future?
