I know that they were listed in my contacts so I looked them up and to my suprise they were gone. As I looked around I found that ALL my Starred "favorite" contacts were missing. I checked online at the Google website and found the same names missing from my contact list. It was only the Starred names thet were missing. Has anyone else ran into this problem or know why it may have ate my Starred contacts.

I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.

Compose email- type in last name of person to add to the "To" field. Take about 5-7 seconds for the name suggestion to come up from the contact list.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to send a text message today to a friend named Jamie and when I scrolled through my contacts and click on Jamie I see two numbers. One is for Jamie and the other is for James. The problem is only Jamie shows up in my contact list. Luckily, I had my old phone and I was able to see which number belonged to who. I tried deleting both contacts and re-adding but the same thing happened. Can anybody else confirm this or is there some setting that I am unaware of (ie. group similar names)? Not a huge deal just curious.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf you have missing contacts in your contact list (even if all contacts is selected) but when you search for them they come up, here is the worlds easiest fix. Log into your google mail on your computers browser, click "contacts". In the left hand column the 1st row says "my contacts", note the total.Now 2nd to the bottom there it says "all contacts". If that total is more, click on it. At the top of the list of names click "all", In the column to the right there is a box that says "add to my contacts", Dont worry it will not duplicate contacts. Click on "add to my contacts" Now after this my phone started syncing contacts automatically, if yours does not, force the sync in the settings, accounts, google. as soon as its done, your missing contacts are now displayed.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I synced facebook contacts, I had a handful of contacts that duplicated, meaning there was the facebook info and their info from my regular contacts list. In each case, I selected the entry that did not have the facebook info and chose to delete that entry. When I did that, for some reason the entry with the facebook info is the one that disappeared. So, I just deleted the other contact entry too. Then when I added the contact back in, facebook wouldn't sync with it. So now, even though these contacts DO have a facebook account and are still listed as my friends, facebook will not sync with those contacts. I even tried the option of syncing ALL facebook friends and the handful of friends I did this with will not come back. Anyone experience this? If you delete a contact with facebook info once, is it impossible to sync back the facebook option?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy fiance and I both got the Eris last week, and we both got our contacts transfered from our old phones (hers was LG EnV Touch). We both had existing Gmail accounts which were setup by the Verizon techs at the store as well. The other day, she started telling me that she was getting this weird message on her phone "Too Many Contact Deletes" or something to that effect. I disregarded it as nothing, and carried on until tonight.
She called me freaking out that all her favorite people in her HTC Favorites Widget were gone, including me, and that my number just showed up when i called her, no name, no picture, just number. So I had her check her People list and she said they were all still there, except that all their Phone Numbers were missing. I quickly logged into her GMail account to confirm, sure enough, everyone was still there, but all the numbers were gone.
I did some research and found a little bit on the error message she got originally, but nothing about random deletion of contacts phone numbers. I still have her LG EnV Touch here with all her contacts, and am contemplating deleting all of her Gmail contacts, all of her Phone contacts and then importing the list into GMail, and syncing with the phone. Is that what you would do? I'm worried that this will happen again. What is this caused by and how does she prevent this in the future?

He is telling me to look in my settings under wireless & networks and tell him what I have for APN's. Well the thing is I don't even have anything in there! View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter you get done doing a nandroid backup, and you go in with an application like Astro, make sure there aren't any spaces in the folder name. Nandroid does not like that. Took a backup, tried a different ROM, didn't like it so went to go and restore my backup, wouldn't restore. It wouldn't get by the MD5 sum check. I just happened to notice there was a space in the name, mounted the memory card, removed the space, rebooted back into recovery and attempted to to the restore again, and success. Just a little tidbit of information I ran into first hand.

I would assume that you could use email to do this, but have not found a way. Please advise if there is something I am missing or if there is an app that fixes this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHe's got a Cricket LG Optimus C, and I've got a Cricket Huawei Mercury. A couple of weeks ago, my son's contact list all of a sudden had a bunch (like over 100) random contacts added to it, all of people he doesn't know. Now all of a sudden, mine has done the same thing - I suddenly have a bunch of random contacts in my list, and I don't know any of them. I opened a bunch of them up, and they all have the same area code as we've got, if that makes any difference. I haven't downloaded any apps in about a week, so I don't think that could have anything to do with it, plus the most recently downloaded apps that I have were things that my son didn't have, so I don't think that an app is the reason for it. I did a google search, and I couldn't find anything like it. It's not a huge deal, but it's annoying to have to go through and delete a bunch of contacts, so if there's anything in particular causing it, I'd like to figure out how to stop it from happening again.

After 2.1 upgrade it imported all my facebook buddies, and because I call everyone by nicknames it has duplicated a lot of entries. I've tried "joining" the duplicates together to get just the one entry per person, but it seems to randomly choose whether they are stored under their facebook name or the nickname I have for them. I've tried entering what I want them to be called in the 'nickname' bit under the contact 'edit' screen, but again it seems to be random as to whether it then uses this name to display them in my contact list.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with the new voice commands in Froyo (Sending Txts, Calls, etc.), and I've noticed that while the feature is cool in theory, it seems to fail in practice. To be more specific, the Voice software can't seem to recognize any name that isn't John Smith, David Samuels, etc.
As an example, I have repeated tried to use it to text a friend of mine who's name is Ryanna (pronounced like the singer). I have tried using "Ree-ahna", "Ree-anna", "Rye-anna", "Rye-ahna", and other methods of pronouncing it, but all of them fail. The software doesn't even bother to take a guess!
Is there any way to "train" the software to better recognize names?
I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
I have a non-rooted Droid 2 and the Desk/Home dock. When I first tried it out, it worked as expected-starting the home dock screen when placed in the dock. However, I now find that whenever I dock the droid, the notification bar shows that it is connected to the multimedia dock but it does not start the dock application. I used Astro to browse the /system/apps folder and found the Dock app- clicked on Open App manager and then Launch at which point I get a message saying "Activity not found com.motorola.dlauncher". I don't know if this is why nothing is happening when I dock the Droid but can anyone tell me why this suddenly stopped working and what I can do to get it working again?

I've tried deleting the Facebook account and then re-logging in. The people show up fine in the Facebook app under friends, but when you view Facebook contact through People, 4 are missing.

Yet if I go to people, her name is there. I also noticed that the contact list that came up on the favorites screen was much shorter than the contacts I have listed under people. Could some of them be on the SD card? How do I get them merged? Or am I off base?
