View 3 Replies View RelatedI have one GMail account synced to my EVO. When I open up 'People' all my contacts I added through GMail are there. Looks great.
However, when I go to the Favorites widget and click + to add a contact to the widget, I get a list of pretty much everyone I've ever sent an email to through my GMail account. I only want my real contacts to show up there, I don't need the dude listed there that I sold my blender to on Craigslist from 5 years ago.
On one of my pages i have a favorites tab thing and whenever i click to add a contact it cant find no one. I have people in my contacts list so i don't get it.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI love shopping on the Android market for great apps =) share with us your favorite apps on this thread =) Mine:Credit to androidforum for many of these app suggestions. See here: Helpful Links and Info for Motorola Droid Users My favorite Droid apps (3 tiers):
Tier 1: On my home screen (most useful/most potential):
Gdocs notepad (syncs with google docs, others use ak notepad)
Gtasks (syncs with google tasks on gmail)
LockPattern OnOff (careful, don't forget your pattern, can brick your droid this way - google login to override pattern lock does not work on some droids including mine. Hopefully they'll fix this soon)
Shopsavvy vs barcode reader
Keyring
Pandora (or last.fm if you prefer)
Weather (that's the full name, i like their widget better than all others)
Power manager full (may want to wait till they fix the bluetooth toggle to buy, but i like having dif power profiles to switch to for home vs out and about - i place shortcuts to the profiles on my home screen and oneclick to activate. Alternative is 'locale' but locale doesnt work very well for droid)
Bluetooth toggle for droid (using this till power manager fixes itself for bluetooth)
Advanced task manager (i like that there's auto-end on the full version...saves me the trouble of closing programs manually. Is also a great easy interface for uninstalling programs)
Gps status (i use this for remembering where i parked my car, free and better than other parking apps. Just go to 'radar' view and click 'mark')
Meebo IM (better than IM+ lite, free, create a meebo acct and just sign into one acct and you'll have all your IM including facebook chat!)
Google navigation (included, it takes a while to get used to, but the key is making a 'my maps' on google maps on your computer, hitting 'layers' on google nav and 'more layers' and choosing your 'my maps'. Easier to get places this way than thru 'contacts' in my opinion. Also try mounting the droid vertically for gps use, i like it because you see forward more rather than to the sides - i wonder why other gps dont do that, it makes so much more sense!)
Buzzlock
Where
Google voice
Quickpedia (wiki reader, better than the rest bc font size adjustable)
Gmote (havent tried yet but looks promising)
Funny jokes (heh heh)
Easy dialer (my go-to for making calls to family and friends quickly)
Battery widget (this is the exact name)
Cardiotrainer (better than andando i think)
Bff photo (facebook photo albums of friends)
Instant lyrics
World weather (i use mainly the widget x 2 to see the time in asia so i know when i can call family and weather in chicago so i can gloat at my freezing friends =)
Facebook (from facebook inc)
SportsTap (best sports app. Period.)
Tier 2: Not on home screen but good to have:
Owner
Saymyname donut (talking caller id, make sure to get donut version, not the old one)
Ringdroid (make own ringtones)
Tone picker (set anything as a ringtone)
Where's my droid
Tier 3: Other useful apps:
Shazam
Places directory
aCar (mileage, maintenance, etc)
Astro (file explorer manager)
B-folders (for keeping sensitive data, can't speak for security, but better than nothing)
Backgrounds
Bible (all Bible versions, but needs data connection)
Dockrunner
Documents to go
gStrings (great free guitar or other instrument tuner)
Guitar chordz
Mabilo ringtones (a team, airwolf, stargate...need i say more? =)
Movies
My coupons
Prayers to share (share and pray for requests anonymously)
Poke a mole
Robo defense
Amazon
Amazon mp3
Motorola media link (program for your pc, havent used yet but looks to be best solution for syncing music)
when i add contacts to my favourites widget they disappear usually within a day?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why I am getting a green circle with a 1 in it for some of my favorites on the favorites widget? I thought maybe it meant new facebook post, but one person has had no facebook activity in over two weeks and it just started yesterday.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running android 1.6 on my gigabyte gsmart g1305 phone and I'd like to see a contact picture in all of my contacts, not just my favorites!
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone using A Online Radio wondering how to delete stations from the favorites tab? There have been multiple posts about this on the developers site.I read their instructions multiple times on their forum post and after 2 days of thinking about it, I finally figured it out. They say that you're supposed to scroll through the list, and as you scroll, the entries will highlight. Then you can select delete from the menu you get from the droid's menu button. After many failed attemps at normal drag scrolling with my finger, I finally thought of trying to scroll with the direction pad on the hard keyboard.Open up to the keyboard and scroll down with that dpad, and items will highlight. You can then delete from the menu. Not hardly the best interface. check boxes and a select all would be much easier. But hey, at least now I can manage the favorites tab.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have yet to find a good Bookmark/Favorites widget. I have tried all the ones in the market that I can find and haven't found one with all the features I am looking for in a single app. Anyone know of a good one or working on one?
Basically I am looking for one that can do the following:
-show bookmarks in list form (icons take up a lot of room)
-allow editing of names and tags- AND have the changes take effect in the native browser
-have an entry in the program list (not just a widget or browser integration) so that a shortcut can be placed in a folder instead of just on the home screen
-import/export compatable with Firefox
If you don't know of one, feel free to add to the list of features incase any devs decide to take on the project.
I just got the HTC EVO and I have the favorites widget. Well, it asked me to assign a default action to each person such as call, bring up contact info, or email. I accidentally assigned "email" to one of my favorites, and now whenever I press her, it wants to send her an email. How do I change what I set as her default action?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded from my E71 to the Desire & when I put my sim card in, there are sms messages on it. The Desire keeps telling me my sim is full. How do I transfer those sms messages to the memory card, without deleting them? Also how do I add contacts from my sim to the favorites section on the Home page?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a very good app on android mark that will allow me to view video podcast such as phonedog and Geekbrief, gadget pron and a few others that I religiously watched from my ipod touch on a nightly basis. Of course the touch had itunes which was great, the only thing it lacked was being able to save your favorites without downloading them. I know they have a few things out there on android market that seem to do this, looking for the easiest and the best.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is just a little pet peev wondering if someone has an answer. How do i update the pics that are pulled down from facebook into contacts and the favorites widget. My friends have changed photos and they don't seem to change on the phone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a group of contacts i could name as favorites so i don't have to scroll through all my contacts when i want to send a text to multiple people at once?
View 17 Replies View RelatedThe Droid lists every call I get or make as a "favorite". Really annoying. How do I stop this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid. When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if there is an app or a procedure to get your facebook contacts to automatically sync with your phones contacts as well as your google contacts. For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. Is there a way to do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my Droid there was a setting to only sync Facebook data for contacts who also were Google contacts. On the X, there doesn't seem to be that option anymore. I don't want all of my Facebook "friends" to show up in my contact list on my phone but I would like Facebook data to sync for my actual contacts in my Google contact list. Has anyone figured this out?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI see I can access contacts by clicking on phone icon on the main screen and also clicking on contacts in the programs list. The latter has more contacts than the one in the phone dialer program.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a Droid and Google contacts. I hate Google's contact interface - it crashes Internet Explorer half the time - so I want to edit my contacts on my Droid and have them get updated on Google contacts. I tried this, but when I sync, the google data overwrites what is on my Droid. I've lost a lot of changes already. I tried deleting the contact in Google thinking the Droid contact would then become dominant, but the contact just got deleted on my Droid. But when I add a new contact on the Droid, it does go to Google. So it seems that all the existing Google contacts only sync one way - from google down to the Droid. I must change this. I need updates to happen both ways or else I need to make changes only go up to Google from the Droid.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have searched for an hour and a half with no luck. Is it possible to get your hotmail contacts to sync with the contacts on my droid? I am already not happy with the phones ability to get my mail from hotmail but will deal with that later. Has anyone else sync'd their hotmail contacts to the droid contact list. Sorry if I repeated this thread.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave new Droid X, getting settled in and doing all the setup tasks. Migrating from Palm Treo. Exported all contacts by category(group) as CSV. Imported into Gmail, all was well. I then set up my ICE contacts and notes. Now my contacts are gone from the main contacts button on the home screen. I still have access to the contacts from inside the dialer, email and messaging apps, but when I press the contacts icon on the lower right of the home screen, I get
Contacts: Status
Contacts: Google (with the + mark to add a new contact)
No recent status updates. If I touch the 'Contacts: Google' button, I can choose between 'all contacts, Favorites, Google, Phone contacts', but all are blank.
I have contacts in my phone that Verizon brought over from my last phone (a regular phone phone... I carry a BB for work, have for years. I also have Google Contacts I spent hours getting in order in anticipation of getting this device. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to back up the contacts now only on the droid to the cloud OR how to get the Google contacts information down to the phone. What I want to do is keep them in Sync and do the cleanup from a laptop/desktop one time, once the nasty merge happens.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo i was having issue with my favorites disappearing. It was a pain with my Favorite People widget. It has to do with your sync. To fix it, you have to go to the gmail website and add your favorites to the website. If you don't it will keep syncing your favorites with the site, thus the disappearing. I would think it should be a 2 way sync, but I guess not. Either that or this is a syncing bug
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am developing an Android application where you should be able to browse restaurants.
Im retrieving the information about the restaurants from a service, they are not stored locally on the device. But I want to allow the user to add a restaurant to his/her favorites.
What is the "best" way to store that kind of info on the device? Should I use Shared Preferences or Sqlite db? Or any other suggestions?
