Recently did a phone reset to try and get rid of connection issues - I have my back up but it doesn't seem to restore all the data/apps. The phone is set to back up everything on the card through its setting menu but I don't know how to restore these - anyone any ideas

I have a question, for the apps we can download them again, but I backed up my people phone contacts to my SD card using Astro, how do I restore those contacts and my pictures once I do the upgrade, and is there a better program to back up the contacts from the phone to the PC, then send them back from the PC back onto the phone, would feel better having 2 different backups in case one does not work, can't hurt,

I dont know.. i have not done that and now I have lost my IMEI... What do I do now ? i tried restoring back to the Stock provided in the 4.1 JB forum 14th page. View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to 2.2 last night, but got stuck in the reboot loop. To fix it I reflashed to a 2.1 ROM and then re-applied the FOTA upgrade to 2.2, which seemed to work fine. The only problem now is that I have lost all my SMS and MMS. They would've been backed up when the original (failed) 2.2 upgrade took place. Is there any way to restore this backup? I've tried a factory reset but no luck.

Am just worried it might be like just copying the 'Program Files' folder from one PC onto another and half of the DLL's would obviously not be there as they are in the Windows directory.

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
So Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
My wife had a prob with her phone so i made sure the back up option was ticked. i then done a factory reset. how do i now restore the back up?

I'm going to purchase a 16GB or 32GB miniSD card for my Desire, but I'll only be able to store music, pictures etc on it until the update when apps can be saved to the SD. As a result, I've been holding back with regards to totally pimping out my Desire with apps and bits and bobs. Anybody else done the same?

Don't get me wrong, the device is amazing, super smooth and fast, good camera, internet loads faster than my old 3GS and open apps in matter of seconds. Most importantly, it offers me endless possiblity of customization.Even having all that great features, there is something that lacks, and it makes me regret of my purchase sometimes. I tried to make it work, I tried to adapt and change my preferences, but I can't do that anymore.Today I was in the market because I just got bored of the only 5 good games for android. So I entered looking for soiemthing new. Seeing apps like "shinobi barrage" and "ghost chaser" being 4 stars and topping the games list, it made me sad. Games like those only get 2 stars in apple market. And I don't like having such a powerfull device just to play a game with 10 years old graphics. Then I encountered with the nazi theme and ringtone apps.

History:
I recently rooted my phone and flashed the DJdroid V1.2 ROM. I was very happy with it but found the 720p choppy. I assumed it was the ROM and that the stock froyo ROM would be flawless so unrooted and updated to the OTA ROM. I've since found its cacka on that too and want to unroot again. Why? Because I hate all the adware that flashes everywhere on my phone now its "stock". The DJDroid ROM maker has removed all that crap "Thanks to the maker". So my question is, before I blindly head back to DJDroid V1.2, are there any other ROMs that I should consider? The main thing for me is that it looks very similar to the stock ROM and has sense as I am comfortable with this arrangement.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSomething fishy is going on with her phone. On the home screen when the back key is pressed it brings up the Quick Search. OK, that's no big deal. Not the end of the world.When you navigate through regular menus like Settings the back key works fine. But if, for example, you go to Contacts, Open a contact, tap the address to show it on a map, click on the map to see Street View, you would expect that the back key would back-track you through all of those steps right back to the home screen. But it doesn't. The Quick Search keeps popping up instead and it's quite a job to get back to the home screen.Reboot doesn't change that.Anyone else seen this or has any ideas? It can't be a dodgy button because the navigation works as expected in other circumstances.

I was backing up all the apps using astro to sd then deleted some off the phone to increase the internal memory. In the process I deleted google maps then I lost the navigation icon so I can't find it back. Is there any way to get it back? I can't even access the navigation app from anywhere not even the market. It's the one with the blue arrow.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I first had my desire the contacts seemed to back up to googlemail fine, something has happened (dont know what) and my contacts on googlemail have reduced to 42 (was 127) I am trying get all my contacts from phone backed up to googlemail (or just my PC) dont mind which one. Would be happy to have them on my PC somewhere. I am imp/exp to SD etc etc but it keeps asking me for a vCard, which I do but where is that vCard stored, and how do I get my contacts to my PC either via the Vcard or via sync - I have tried syncing but the numbers stay the same? Surely it should be easier than this - all I want to do is get my numbers backed up for saftey.
