Once I connect phone to the PC do I just copy everything that I see on the drive and paste back onto the new card? Is it really that straightforward? Am just worried it might be like just copying the 'Program Files' folder from one PC onto another and half of the DLL's would obviously not be there as they are in the Windows directory.

I upgraded to 2.2 last night, but got stuck in the reboot loop. To fix it I reflashed to a 2.1 ROM and then re-applied the FOTA upgrade to 2.2, which seemed to work fine. The only problem now is that I have lost all my SMS and MMS. They would've been backed up when the original (failed) 2.2 upgrade took place. Is there any way to restore this backup? I've tried a factory reset but no luck.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded firmware and backed up the data stored on the phone when prompted, now after the phone restarted I saw that the main screen is set to a default HTC one, I had my own profile saved onto the phone but I cannot find it after the firmware update. Can you manually backup data form the sd card? Or is it just a normal thing that the update deletes your own main screen setting even if it's saved in the profiles section. I must say I'm quite annoyed with it.

I will probably miss sense and go back but I love all the options! I do miss being able to just restore data with nandroid backups on droid. Made flashing so easy. I am afraid to try this with the Inc. Anyone do this ever?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad issues with install of Watermark'D theme over CM6 rom. Finally got all that sorted but had to elect to install Google Apps separately after the fact. I restored backups of all my apps through Titanium Backup except for three - Tweetdeck, Weather Channel, and Yellowbook. Titanium would not restore them - I would click on install, it would try, then come back with an installation failed message. Went to both the market directly and Appbrain and attempted to install them from there. Found them listed but when I clicked on it to install got an item not found message. Tried to install Tweetdeck from the apk and got the same message as with Titanium. Oh and have downloaded other app from market successfully. Any ideas?

But when I factory reset my phone and try to restore the contacts it only gives me about 1/3 of them. What gives? I have cm11 on my note 2 which I finally got this morning to work(yay), but before that I kept failing yesterday and had to factory wipe my phone several times like 3 or 4. Is wiping my phone in cwm creating giant files or something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Desire for about a month and a half now, but have been having problems with my SD Card, which seem to be getting worse. Intermittently I get a message saying something along the lines of 'the backup can't complete as the SD card cannot be accessed'. I also sometimes experience the problem trying to snap a photo, only to be told that there is no SD card (which of course is really annoying). When this happens I can still see the card using the ES File Explorer, including seeing the contents, but if I try to open a file (e.g. a photo) I can't view it.
I have searched the forums/the Internet and the general recommendation seems to be to reformat the card which helps for some people. Someone also suggested the SDMount widget to remount the card when it happens. I've tried using two different cards (the included 4GB card + a 16GB Sandisk card), reformatted both several times, but I still get the problem. I ran a memory card test tool on the 16GB card and couldn't find a problem. The only way I've found to get access back is to unmount the card and then restart the phone. Does this mean my phone is faulty, or could it be some software causing the problem?
So basically I am getting a replacement because my ones a bit faulty and I was wondering if my apps/photos/contacts etc., will be saved to the SD card automatically, or do I have to do something in order to save them on it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI broke my HTC Desire so did what I thought was a backup to the SD card and sent it away to be fixed. Apparently they couldn't fix it and sent me another one. When I turned the new phone on (after having inserted the SD card) it asked me if I wanted to do system update, I presume this was to 2.2. I said yes. Now I have lost all my contact data (and diary but contact data more important!). If I connect my HTC desire to the PC I can see quite clearly the backup file I made before I sent the HTC desire off to be repaired. Questions is a) does it have my contacts in and b) how on EARTH do I put the contacts back into the HTC desire (sorry if I haven't phrased that very well).

Like I was reloading a bunch of apps, and it prompted me for EACH APP. Is there a way to just press restore on a batch I backed up, and it just puts everything on the phone that I selected? It took a long time sitting there and pressing ok after each app.

Ok, I have spent 3 days+ educating myself before I messed with my Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE (SPRINT CDMA) phone. My intention started out only as troubleshooting an issue I have where my sister's (on AT&T) Samsung Galaxy S4 will only send me MMS messages instead of plain ole SMS messages and it is causing duplicate thread issues...... so that is besides the point..... I RESET my phone to factory defaults and manually backed up everything else first as well as used "Super Backup" in the Play store as a double backup measure.
I followed all instructions to the letter on backing up using ADB, except that I could never locate the so-called "fastboot" file that apparently "MOTOROLA" makes vs the one that is included with the Android SDK. Using ADB and FASTBOOT from the Android SDK, I successfully make a backup (while the bootloader was still LOCKED) of my phone and I figured after I reset to factory defaults I could simply use the ADB RESTORE command and it would put my apps, wallpaper, email settings, account settings, shortcuts and placement of them etc.. all back where they were. INSTEAD I get a restore process that only seemed to restore the background live wallpaper and NOTHING ELSE was restored.
SO, then I figured, well this is a good time to try to ROOT the phone and see if I can get CWM to work, because I never have successfully done it before today. Got the phone to work finally after a variety of hybrid-put together instructions and used shabbypenguin's files and instructions that are available for my phone Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE today, though they are dated a lil bit... it worked.
SO now, I go to use ADB RESTORE, thinking now that I have SUPERUSER rights, I can successfully restore the ADB backup and get all my stuff back the way it was prior to the factory reset. NOPE. Same result as before... just restored wallpaper... no apps, no settings, no accounts etc.. just like stock or I should say now the CWM stock img. Why can't I utilize that ADB backup file? Can I extract stuff from it and manually apply it now that I have SUPERUSER rights?
Does the phone need to be BOOTLOADER LOCKED AGAIN in order for the ADB RESTORE to WORK?
I used to have a HTC Desire HD. On that was a brilliant ROM, spent ages on it and it had LOTS of data and apps. One time I backed it up through Clockworkmod and a few days later it bricked. I managed to breath life into it but I couldn't restore that file because I moved it to my PC and so much time had passed that I couldn't find it. Recently I found the backup and saw the apps and app data was still inside (opened using winrar).
Is there any way I can move this app data and the apps to my Galaxy Note 2? I had a Titanium backup but it was on my phone memory which got wiped, the SD card was untouched. If there's an incompatibility between HTC and Samsung recovery backups could I use my dad's HTC Wildfire to put the app data on then Titanium backup and move the apps and app data over?
I rooted my galaxy tab 2 7.0 yesterday and flashed cm10.1. Everything was working great until I tried changing my boot animation. When I tried rebooting it rebooted but there was no boot animation and then once it rebooted half of the screen displayed black(it isn't broken because the backlight is on and it works fine when it is in recovery) I boote into recovery and tried restoring it from a backup I made of the stock rom but it keeps saying E: signature verification failed.

I know I have the update.zip option, but that seems to introduce issues for some that I want to avoid.Now, I know I have a few options. I can batch backup apps and data with Titanium Backup, then wipe, install the new build, and then restore via Titanium. Or, I can do a nandroid backup of my phone, wipe, install the new build, and then restore only the data partition of my first backup.My question is, are either of these methods any different from just using the update.zip version of BB? For example, when I upgraded from BB .7.8 to 1.0, I lost root and had to do a full wipe and I just manually reinstalled everything. Will doing the data partition restore or titanium backup restore result in the same issues?

It seems fairly obvious that when restoring an app+app data from a previous installation, they get confused and the push messages aren't being delivered to the right place.
So far the only solution that I've found to the problem is to wipe the app's data, and restart from scratch.
I've done a lot of Google searching, and there have been a few things I've tried. This is my normal procedure I do when I upgrade/flash a new rom:

At this point, some of my GCM push notifications don't work. The only way I can get them to work again is to wipe the app's data and start from scratch. I have tried the following things, none of which worked.

-Wiped the app data, restored the app data by itself again.
-Uninstalled the app, installed from Google Play, restored app data.
-Used Application Manager to disable notifications, then re-enabled.
-Went into the app's settings to disable notifications, then re-enabled.
-Cleared data on Google Services Framework
-Removed Google Account, cleared data on Google Services Framework, rebooted.
(This actually had an even worse side effect of re-breaking GCM push notifications for all of the apps I had fixed by hand) At this point I'm at a loss, I'm not sure what else to try. It kind of looks like the Google Account/GSF is related to GCM. I don't remember exactly, but I think I tried restoring the previous GSF App+Data on my most recent flash, and it still didn't work.

I need to press "install" and then "done" for each app, and not only that, if I don't want to install and press cancel it stops working and I need to go to task manager, kill titanium backup and do everything again.. I have a One V, and I want to backup atleast 30 wifi passwords I have stored on my device, but all the apps on play store require root.I can't do that as unlocking the bootloader will remove my phone data, so I'm asking :
