HTC Desire Message app jumps back to top of thread
Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Am currently running the deFrost FroYo ROM. Everything's fantastic, except...whenever I'm viewing a text message thread, it's slow to scroll through previous messages. Frustratingly slow. Is this a common issue with the deFrost ROM? Or is there something I can change / configure to resolve this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else suffer from slow scrolling? For instance on the list of applications and on a large message thread the scrolling is very laggy and jerky. Surely this shouldn't happen with it's 1Ghz processor?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to 2.2 the messaging app is randomly jumping to the top of the conversation when I'm writing a text. I can't work out if there's any pattern, it's not a particular keypress or message length. The only work around is to either scroll down again (inpractical in an 800 message conversation) or press back to save as a draft and then edit the draft. The annoying thing is that the bug where the conversation jumped to the bottom after deleting or locking a text has been fixed.

If I'm (for example) writing a SMS and then want to navigate back though the text to correct a typo, I find it very difficult to get the cursor to the required position. Sometimes it seems too sensitive and jumps more lines / positions than I want; and sometimes it seems not sensitive enough! Is it just me, or do others have problems using the trackpad?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running Fresh 0.5.3. When I open a contact and scroll down, as soon as it stops it jumps right back to the top. I want to give a contact there own ring tone, but as soon as I get to the bottom, it jumps back up. I can't get it to stay down long enough to make any changes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
So Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I send text messages to individual it sends them as plain SMS, this works with my free allocation of texts.When I send text messages to a group (a list of 7 individuals) it sends them as 7 "Picture Messages" - this costs me money!. The message has no pictures and is short?How can I force the phone to not send picture messages?

Been trying to search it out with no look. Think it was by one of the mods. I was new to android at the time, but now I would like to know why task killing is a bad idea. I must have shed loads running in the background.

It seems I can send pics & MP3s, but not PDFs or APKs for example. If i try to 'send' them in astro, I only get the mail or gmail options. Is this normal, or can't I drive the phone properly again?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had this happen to them: not always, but very often, if I quickly reply to a text message, my reply jumps up a place in the thread and appears before the last message, i.e. like this:
(instead of)
Sender: Where are you?
Me: I'm at work.
(it appears as)
Me: I'm at work.
Sender: Where are you?
I've noticed it almost exclusively happens if I reply within the same minute on the clock. If I receive a text at 10:50 and reply at 10:51, it doesn't happen. But if I promptly replied while time was still 10:50 almost certainly my message will jump up the thread and not be the last.
Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust searched all around but can not find any thread related to this problem.I don't have any other SMS app installed on my Desire (like handcent), but when message is received I get to hear the same sound two times and two mail icons pop-ups in the upper left corner, There is an non rooted unbranded Desire, with Froyo. Couple of days ago reseted to factory default. Everything was done well except this thing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to do this to a group with more than 6 people, it converts the message to a mms and wants to use there email and wont add any more than 10 contacts.This way is messed up, I have made several groups of 7 different sets of contacts, They all change to MMS Message when selecting any of those groups.I can send a group message by doing the below actions without any problem for some reason though, Which TBH is just more hasse.
