I just tried to use google maps on my phone only to find the app has disappeared! As have navigation, footprints, location
Haven't used maps since I installed froyo and changed memory card.
Any ideas on how I get them back?

I have been between the Desire, Galaxy S and the Desire HD for the last month but have been really turned off by the small battery on the DHD and have just found I can get almost all the feature on the Desire with 2.2. One answer I couldnt find is does the froyo update for 2.2 have auto caching of the maps? I use my map a lot as I travel all over the city and this really intrigued me about the DHD. If not not a big deal but would make me order the phone right now

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I bought hts desire 2 days ago and very impressed with it. but started to get annoying with Google maps. Either I dont understand how it works or my desire not working properly. With no problem I can connect to GPS and can see its on but when i go to Maps application I cant see anything except flashing blue arrow. Maps dont load. My maps loaded when I connect to WiFi. Does it mean I always have to connect to GPS and internet to load maps? Feels strange that i cant see any maps with only GPS on.

As a side note, sky maps is really cool, thought it would be better though. Imagined being able to zoom in more and click on stars for information about them like on google sky on the PC.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Desire and have Google Maps installed, but when I want to go somewhere, it doesn't tell me my turns and what street to turn on. I only see the map and that's it. When maps was installed I had a popup that advised that I should download text to speech as well, which I did. I've watched on utube and the videos show turn by turn speech happening on the videos. I live in Canada. Is it not available here?

On the applications list 'Maps' is in there twice, both 4.3.0 installed on 2010-07-06 and both 4102KB. Would I actually have two copies installed? I'm not that keen on the idea of uninstalling one to find out for obvious reasons! this seems to put them onto the SD card which is quite useful
I have deleted the maps data from the SD card. Where do I go to download the file again or any other map?

So Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other.Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!

When I try to pinch zoom in or out, it sometimes just moves the map.
With sometimes I mean, every time I'm in google maps all 3 of those problems occur more than it works normal.
I know HTC have added their own 'offline' maps application, which I am quite interested in, I am however wondering if plain old Google Maps, Navigation and most of all Latitude are still present / working?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am REALLY impressed with the google maps navigation on my Desire, I have a TomTom and pay for maps quarterly and it's up to date but still does not know about the 4 new roads where i live and one is a few miles long. However Google Navigation knew about the new roads (1 extra before i knew, let alone tomtom)
How can they offer such great navigation for free when i have just paid ?74 for my tom tom map update and it's still out of date.! if htc/google can fix the issue of calls via blutooth whilst using HTC desire for navigation i tell you TOMTOM are history and thats hard to say after all these years!
Why is Maps app showing as consuming power, even when it not running? The About Battery is showing that it is consuming 93%
