Are any other non-rooters holding back slightly when it comes to apps etc? I'm going to purchase a 16GB or 32GB miniSD card for my Desire, but I'll only be able to store music, pictures etc on it until the update when apps can be saved to the SD. As a result, I've been holding back with regards to totally pimping out my Desire with apps and bits and bobs. Anybody else done the same?

The back of mine doesn't seem to go on as snugly as it used to. I've swapped the battery a few times since getting mine on launch day. Probably 10 or so times. If i press lightly with my thumb on the center of the bottom part of the back, it makes a squeaky noise and definitely gives. I'm used to backs that are made to come off the phone a bit more easily (blackberry's, moto droid), so I've always found the plastic tabs on the inc kind of suboptimal. I guess that's one of the sacrifices you make for a super slim and light phone. I ordered a new back cover from ebay, hopefully that will give me back that tight-as-a-drum new phone feel.

But one question and concern I have with that is when a froyo rom comes it will remove sense? Meaning stuff like face book contacts syncing will no longer work? Did I get that right?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with a Milestone, so i decided to give it away and buy a Desire. Overall, the phone is good. But i'm having a major issue that troubles me: Bought the phone yesterday and immediately updated to Froyo. I'm having problems with the antenna (which i believe is in the lower right corner). By just holding my phone with my hand (not touching the antenna) drops my signal significantly. For HDSPA, it goes down from 3 bars to 0 (but i can make calls) and for GSMA it goes from 4 to 3. As i found out through the menus, the drop for HDSPA is around -10dbm and more. I'd like to ask: is this normal; I know that you shouldn't touch the antenna, but on mine bars goes down all the way just by holding the phone.

I am using LP so i don't know if it is part of Android or the launcher but I found this pretty neat.

View 35 Replies View RelatedI started a thread a while ago about poor wifi performance on my phone (weak signal right next to my laptop that has good signal). Long story short, I discovered that if I'm holding the phone in my palm with fingers wrapped around the sides in usual fashion... my wifi -and cellular signal significantly weaken. Surprisingly, there was no response to this. I began to think maybe this is standard behavior for a smart phone. I mean, when I'm in my office which is the basement, I literally set the phone down or hold it with just two fingers pinching the sides in order to download something on wifi. This 'bulletin' just popped up on Boy Genius Report complaining of this exact same thing happening on the iPhone 4. What gives? Does this happen to other EVOs? Seems to happen on both mine and my wife's so I figured maybe it's just something I have to deal with. But if I have faulty hardware, I'd like to get it taken care of. Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Writing an application to invoke the camera can be done but I want to write an application to hold on to the camera resources. Meaning while this application is running, camera cannot be accessed by other applications. Is this possible? The aim is as long as the application is running camera cannot be used.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.

5. sometimes you have to push the actual unlock button for the screen to turn on instead of any of the buttons (i do this to check the time)
never had the SD card or vibrating problems so i dunno if they got completely fixed.
i have the droid x2 and ive been trying to long hold the apps to move them around but a message appears at the top and says screen locked and will not let me move them, it also does the same thing when i long hold an empty space to try to bring a widget to the area, how do i fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to the Verizon Store to find out why my battery was not holding a charge for more than 4 - 5 hours. They checked it out, downloaded a battery saver app and sent me on my way stating my phone was no longer under warranty. Then my phone would not hold any charge, I again went to the Verizon store and was told there was nothing they could do. I went to Battery Warehouse to see if they could change the battery, they could not. So, I decided, since it was out of warranty I would removed the battery myself and see if I could order a new one. Well that was another problem because noone knows how to reinstall a battery once you open the back and take it out. So now I am going to activate my Droid 3 and use it until I update to an Iphone in August.

First it started not showing on the screen what I was typing when holding the phone horizontal. If I had it in the vertical position it would show the typed message. Took to Verizon while I was out of town. While the phone was on they took the battery out and then reinstalled. It worked fine. Upon returning home I noticed that the Weather app said my "current" was the town I had visited the weekend before. Tried everything but can't get it to acknowledge my present city. Now I go view my photos that I had taken and there are absollutely none there. I even assigned one to be my screensaver which is still showing as the screensaver however it is not in my Photos/Camera.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new on android and building an application which uses webservice to collect user information in XML. I also get path for a small jpeg picture of each user. (Currently there are about 200 users) I am parsing the XML and storing the information in SQLiteDatabase. Pictures are stored as blob and able to retrieve them.
I display names of users on listview with images as well. But is this a good solution for storing pictures in SQLite Database ? or should consider storing it in file system ? Which is suitable in terms of performance , as well as memory and any other pro and cons on Android.
Also like to know which is best performing XML parser for Android ?
My purpose is only to parse xml files which I get through web services and sort out the data to store in storage. And lastly my memory goes off easily when I load all images to display in list view after making thumbnails of each (which is obvious).
Was wondering is there any library/framework/app available which dynamically loads images as and when required (when that list item is on display) something like Gallery program ?
I received a Text message sent from an E-Mail and I was wondering if it was possible to find the individual file on the filesystem holding the metadata for the E-Mail.
If so, would I have to root the phone? And where would that file be located?

I have recently upgraded to Android 4.0.4 on my samsung galaxy s2. I used the ressurection remix rom 1.9
I have noticed that although holding down the menu button will go to google search from the main screen, it no longer works in certain apps that used to work before the upgrade. In fact it doesnt seem to work in any apps.
When clicking and holding the home button the very useful modal dialogue appears showing the list of recently used programs/applications. Unfortunately, most of the time it appears and then disappears again. It is very annoying and makes this feature useless.
I am using LauncherPro on my Android 2.1 (CyanogenMod 5.0.8 DS), but with ADW launcher it showed the same behaviour.
