Nov 27, 2010I've recently bought myself a HTC Desire phone and love it; it's my first smart phone and can't say one bad thing about it. Since joining this forum I've been surfing around looking at what a desire is capable of and I want to utilize it potential. I was wondering if someone could help me customize my phone the way they are in the show us your homescreen thread. I want to customise it with a variety of apps and hopefully have a finishing product like everyone else has. I've tried searching around but can't seem to find a guide. I would love to know how to do cool things to the phone and open to opinions and advice by anyone.

I'm not sure how to put this so I'll try my best.When you have a picture as your wallpaper do you notice that when sliding between the screens they move ever so slightly?For example, I have an image of the lion in my avatar perfectly in the centre of my home screen, yet when I move the screen to the left or right it seems to move the image and cut some off. Is there a way around this?I've seen it on some people's screen shots but I'm not sure how to do it with a picture that you decide to use as a homescreen. No worries if it can't be done. It would just be nice, that's all.

Home screen images, by their very nature work best when they are simple or abstract because they have a load of stuff going on over the top of them. But in the lock screen it would be really great to see a proper picture, where it doesn't matter what's going on because there's nothing in front of it!
It's a small request, but it would be nice to have all the same! Any apps that can do it?

I use Launcher Pro right now, but I'm hoping somebody has a way to get Sense to do this, especially if it'll let me use the new Sense this way down the road. Jul 16, 2010So Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.

Motorola Droid X : Back Button Functionality - Cannot Simply Go Back One Menu Using The Back Key
Jul 15, 2010This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
