I installed handcent but when I get a text I am receiving two notifications one from handcent and one from the default how do I default it to notify me only on handcent?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.

The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my X10 mini pro for about a month and now I can't stand some of the "features" anymore. First, I thought people where crazy, sending me the same sms two or three times in a row. But now I've realized that they aren't, it's just my phone that receives them over and over again. It is the same thing with notifications. If I set a reminder in the calendar, the reminder pops up in my notification bar sometimes five or six times before I get to angry and delete the whole event from the calendar. Is these problems specific to me or do anyone else recognize them?

I don't know why this has started happening as no new apps have been installed apart from those that were erased during the upgrade.

I don't want to reply to it and i just delete it but it is getting annoying now. Have installed Lookout but says my phone is clean.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Just installed Handcent and so far Im loving it. Way better texting app then what comes stock from HTC. However I do have a question. How do I stop the HTC app from popping up with text message notifications? Right now I get both the HTC and the Handcent notification at the same time when a text comes through.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone has the rooted 2.1 dd10 version or whichever and I am not receiving picture/video messages. I called Sprint and they said I was "in the red." We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?

Anyways, when there is an auxiliary cable, or headphones I'm assuming also, plugged into the phone, I can hear the person who I call/who calls me, but they cannot hear me through the phone. Is this true with everyone's phone? Listening to music and then having someone call me while it is plugged in is very annoying as I have to hang up on them and call back.

1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
I get 2x notifications when I receive messages with Handcent. I assumed the stock sms app was also notifying, but I think I turned that one off. Still getting the 2x notification
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if 2.1 still had the following bugs/problems that myself, and a lot of people seem to encounter with 1.5, or if it's phone specific not OS specific.
1. Problems receiving picture messages. Specifically receiving a message saying "Message not downloaded. Retransmission scheduled for XX:XX", even if you click "Download" button multiple times.
2. When receiving a text message longer than 160 characters, you get a message saying "The preceding messages modified. Media objects removed." and the sender gets a message saying that you do not support enhanced messaging service, even though you DO actually receive the entire message. I know the Incredible doesn't have this problem, but the Eris does.
I just set up my Samsung Moment the other day and I made the mistake of adding an MSN email account to my email notifications. That email acc is the one i use to sign up for things, mostly junk. I get tons of emails in it every day. Is there a way to uninstall the MSN account?

View 4 Replies View RelatedNo way can I rely on notifications for my SMS messages or emails. The only thing that regularly shows up on the notification bar is missed calls.My Moment is about 6 weeks old and was pre-loaded with cl14.
Notifications work okay for a little bit if I toggle notifications off/on.. then after a day or so, nothing.
Anyone else find the notification area to be completely unreliable?
Traded my Hero for the Moment solely for the keyboard. A few things I learned quickly about the Moment that I wasn't aware of:
1) No LED for visual notifications. I miss that.
2) Not compatible with the Mac. You plug in the USB and it charges the phone...no mounting. Confirmed this with Sprint.
3) While the phone is very quick, there is a definite lag with typing on the hardware keyboard. I'm not a fast typist but it lagged by a letter almost always. If you look at the keyboard rather than what you are typing you are OK. I could adapt to this.
4) I thought the jiggle in the Pre was a bad until I met the Moment. The keyboard mechanism just seems too loose.
5) The joystick thing works great. I adapted immediately to it and really like it.
6) Screen is awesome.
I'd keep the phone if it weren't for the Mac incompatibility. That's a killer for me. Looks like I'm going back to the Hero and will deal with the soft keyboard. I thought about the Touch Pro2 but just can't go back To Windows Mobile.
My Captivate has been nothing but a pain. The GPS comes and goes and the response time is horrible with the touch screen (give me old-fashioned BUTTONS any day!) Now the 'message' alert continues to go off and I can't stop it; I finally had to mute it. I have rebooted and even removed the battery and it won't stop.

What I really want is a (configurable) notification sound for Text messages, and different sound for gmail/email, and be able to turn all independently on/off. I found the Generic Email (Menu->Account Settings->EmailNotifications) which can turn this on/off, but not configure the sound. Quite happy with the default, installed Text app so can this be done without having to install other apps, if not, which apps will allow me to to do this. I'm not getting any notifications at all when emails arrive. I went into the email menu and set it vibrate and to use my own notification (using the ringtone extender app) and nothing. What am I missing? I get custom notifications for messaging but not email
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince updating to 2.1, I've noticed that when I get a text message, the Handcent pop-up appears, and then maybe 5-10 seconds later, I get the notification. This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?
