This may be a stupid question but ill ask it anyway...
when i receive a text message or notification (ex. email) I'll hear my notification tone and/or the phone will vibrate but there the screen remains off and gives no visual alert.
all i really want is the screen to flash when i receive a notification

I have a Captivate that I just brought today.....and everything works just fine except the Contacts App. When I launch the Contacts App the screen is blank and nothing to click on to add a contact.
Is something wrong with just the app or phone? Has anyone experienced this?
I used chompSMS, and after updating to their 4.6 version, I was no longer able to receive text messages. I tried everything and finally resorted to doing a factory reset, now everything is working, and I am receiving all the messages I was supposed to get during the period it wasn't working. Now that I am getting all the messages, I realize that I wasn't getting them from before the update as well. I guess chomp is not to blame.

I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone has the rooted 2.1 dd10 version or whichever and I am not receiving picture/video messages. I called Sprint and they said I was "in the red." We tried everything over the phone to try to get around the issue without having to reflash. Any other ideas? I tried pulling the battery for 2 minutes, changing the MSID number.The MSID number won't stay.It goes back to 0000000. Any other ideas or is reflashing the way to go?

I seem to receive text messages without problems but sending text messages does not get to certain people. One colleague at work who is on ATT can send me a text but does not receive mine in return. Similar stories for some other contacts of mine and some are on Verizon as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am so frustrated with Double Twist. I downloaded the samsung drivers and double twist immediately fount my captivate. I downloaded some of my itunes music. While I was trying to download some of my video, Double Twist went blank and could no longer find my captivate. I have redownloaded the drivers, but the captivate is not being found.
Any suggestions?
Also, any idea how I can get some of my songs OFF of the Captivate?

I'm able to send messages from my Google Talk on Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1 update 1.
However, I'm not receiving any messages at all from anyone. This is making me feel horribly disabled.
Has anyone found any solution to this problem?
I tried several things like restarting the phone, clearing Google talk service and app cache, signing out and back in, etc. I don't want to reset the phone again and loose all my current setup. I've read some posts that reset also doesnt work.
Is there any solution to this problem?

I haven't received any texts since yesterday but all calls and outgoing texts work fine. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to un root?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I noticed that I would occasionally receive multiples of the same text message. It started out only being once or twice, but it has increased in frequency. Today, I reset my phone with Odin3 and installed SRE 1.2.2a. Also, I added the lag fix. Unfortunately after resetting, I am still experiencing the same problem. I thought it was an issue with handcent, so I switched to chompSMS and the same thing is happening. Most recently, I have received the same text message 7 times, and it was originally sent an hour ago. The odd thing is that each copy that is sent to me shows the ORIGINAL send time, so its something on my end that is going wrong. For the record I have notifications only turned on for one SMS client at a time, so thats not an issue. i have toyed around with my sms settings and everything but for some reason I still am getting this problem.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

This is the 2nd phone I've had because the other one was having "seizure like activity" and this is the new one I got yesterday and it STILL WILL NOT send picture messages. 1) My ringer, when someone calls me, starts off quiet for a few seconds then goes to full volume. The ringtone I have doesn't do that by itself, it must be a setting. Is there a way to make it ring full volume as soon as someone calls me?
2) Is there a way to make the phone vibrate when receiving a text message either while the phone is on vibrate or on normal volume.
i cracked my Samsung Galaxy s3 screen and the screen was on working fine but i bought a kit to replace the screen and now i get no display on my samsung galaxy s3 i can charge my phone and Green led pops up i can also hear the volume as i turn it up and i can connect to computer as well but i cant see no display? Also phone was rooted to jellybean 4.3 if that makes a difference.
Replacement screen i had bought Touch Screen Digitizer Glass White 4 Samsung Galaxy GT i9300 SIII S3 3M Tape New.
So I just got off a half hour conversation with AT&T and We cant figure out for the life of the phone, why MMS messages cannot be sent. Although, when they did send me a small AT&T logo I did receive it. And When I sent that to myself, it did send and I received it again. I then took out my SIM and put it in my BlackBerry 9700 and MMS sent find and received fine. Any size picture. I then took a picture with the camera on the Captive in Fine, Normal and Super Fine. And each picture I tried to send to myself. Each said Compressing picture and when I go to send it, it stays on sending. That guy got so fed up he told me to Google it lol. So I did, and I see some others are having the same issue.
View 38 Replies View RelatedI'm running Launcher Pro and only have one home screen.Earlier my phone was locked and I hit the unlock button and there is no unlock puzzle piece. The capacitive buttons don't work, I can't pull down the menu, but the screen is there.So I reboot.It works fine for a few mins but next time when I unlock all the icons are missing from my home screen except the 5 dock buttons.Capacitive buttons are fine, menus work fine, even the app drawer.I went to task manager and killed Launcher Pro and restarted it and everything was back, but I've never had a lick of trouble with it before and suddenly it starts.The only thing I can think of is that a little while ago I went under preferences and hid several of the apps from my app drawer (many of which are on my home screen) but I wouldn't think that would adversely effect function/stability.I've been running LP for over a week and it's not given me a luck of trouble before this, and then two issues in under an hour? Any ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I'm having a peculiar problem which doesn't appear to be specific to my model phone.
I use Google Voice for my text messaging so I'm not sure when this started. But I'd like to be able to at least receive text messages that people try to send to my main number. But what happens now is that I see the message text appear in the notification part temporarily, but when I go into the stock SMS app all I see is a separate blank message from "5556" and always with a date of March 26 and a time of 12:19AM. The actual message doesn't appear.
I've used APNdroid and QuickSettings in the past to disable 3G but leaving the "allow MMS" option checked. Neither is currently enabled but maybe they mess with settings somewhere?
And like I said, I have Google Voice installed too. Not sure what else could have messed with settings. My message center is set to "+13123149810". I have been searching and saw these threads so it's not unique: SMS and MMS issue sms from 5556 after upgrade to cm6.0.1rc1 - xda-developers. No solution though. Any thoughts?
