For some reason, ever since I upgraded my HTC Hero to the latest Rom today, I have received two message tones and notifications for every text message I receive. I don't know why this has started happening as no new apps have been installed apart from those that were erased during the upgrade.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.

Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
I just installed a new sms app and love it, the problem is that I can't get the proprietary message application on the Hero to stop retrieving all messages. It doesn't help to have cool features like blacklist, if you can't use them because the original app just logs the threads anyway. How do you turn off or uninstall the original message program, I would prefer to just get rid of it and free up the space. Any ideas???

This seems to stop the HTC Internet widget from working. I keep replacing it but it still happens.
My sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

No problem at all on Email just the one notification tone but SMS seems to be the buggy object here.After the 2.1 upgrade, I'm still getting two notifications on SMS messages. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
on my storm I was not only able to set an individual ringtone for my contacts I was also able to set an individual text message tone for them as well. Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? how to customize the text message notifications... but can not figure out how to customize the email notifications..is there a way? I have a work and personal email account on my EVO and they both notify me with the same sound! I like ignoring my work ones on the weekends... is there an app I could download to customize my contacts ring tones and text messages as well?

At work I am in tons of meetings and conference calls and having a ring tone blast out isn't accepted too well So when I get to work I turn my ringtone volume down to VIBRATE and when I get a call, since I have my phone bare in my pocket, it vibrates and I never miss a call.
But as soon as I change to VIBRATE MODE, all the stuff for NOTIFICATION SOUND under SETTINGS is grayed out. If I go under MESSAGES and SETTINGS, the check box is checked for PLAY NOTIFICATION SOUND and VIBRATE.
I just tested this several times and with the phone in saver mode (screen timed out and is blank), I get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when I get a text message. No vibrate, buzz, blip or anything. If I call my phone it vibrates for the incoming call fine. BUt for a text message... NOTHING!
Since I *HAVE* to use VIBRATE MODE at work, how can I get the phone to notify me when I get a text message? Kind of important to me as an out of state relative was trying to text me information about my mother's surgery and I was not getting any notification on my phone.
