No way can I rely on notifications for my SMS messages or emails. The only thing that regularly shows up on the notification bar is missed calls.My Moment is about 6 weeks old and was pre-loaded with cl14.
Notifications work okay for a little bit if I toggle notifications off/on.. then after a day or so, nothing.
Anyone else find the notification area to be completely unreliable?

I just set up my Samsung Moment the other day and I made the mistake of adding an MSN email account to my email notifications. That email acc is the one i use to sign up for things, mostly junk. I get tons of emails in it every day. Is there a way to uninstall the MSN account?

I only have one account set up which is yahoo on both phones, and nothing! So unless I check maually to see if i got anything i won't know until i open my email account. is there an app which this can work better?
View 4 Replies View RelatedTraded my Hero for the Moment solely for the keyboard. A few things I learned quickly about the Moment that I wasn't aware of:
1) No LED for visual notifications. I miss that.
2) Not compatible with the Mac. You plug in the USB and it charges the phone...no mounting. Confirmed this with Sprint.
3) While the phone is very quick, there is a definite lag with typing on the hardware keyboard. I'm not a fast typist but it lagged by a letter almost always. If you look at the keyboard rather than what you are typing you are OK. I could adapt to this.
4) I thought the jiggle in the Pre was a bad until I met the Moment. The keyboard mechanism just seems too loose.
5) The joystick thing works great. I adapted immediately to it and really like it.
6) Screen is awesome.
I'd keep the phone if it weren't for the Mac incompatibility. That's a killer for me. Looks like I'm going back to the Hero and will deal with the soft keyboard. I thought about the Touch Pro2 but just can't go back To Windows Mobile.
I'm not getting any notifications at all when emails arrive. I went into the email menu and set it vibrate and to use my own notification (using the ringtone extender app) and nothing. What am I missing? I get custom notifications for messaging but not email
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince updating to 2.1, I've noticed that when I get a text message, the Handcent pop-up appears, and then maybe 5-10 seconds later, I get the notification. This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally updated to 2.1 yesterday with the SDX kernels, and I've noticed (among other things) that my phone does not vibrate on notifications of e-mail or text messages, even though I'm specifically telling it to do so. It doesn't do it when the phone's on silent, vibrate, or at full volume. In fact, there's a "test" mode in HandcentSMS and ever though vibrate is set to "Always," it doesn't vibrate, even when I tap on "Test notification." Even if I set the main control to vibrate when a call comes in, email and texts still do not cause a vibration. Has anyone seen this? I apologize if this has already been spotted--if it has, if you could point me to the link, that would be great.

View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to download an app it goes to download and I see the download bar but upon checking notifications find Download Unsuccessful waiting for me. To top it off my apps have updates avail that will not load either.
I never rooted the phone and had no problems up till now Yes I turned off power and removed the battery to reset..
Did some searching about trying to set up custom notifications for email and text and scilence the rest, it seems that people were having good results by using tone picker to scilence all notifications then setting custom ones in each app, however when I try to select silent through tone picker or andriod for default notifications it doesn't take.

The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got this phone but it's having a weird problem. The battery % seems to drop off in big jumps instead of gradually.
For instance, I also have an Xperia Play, if I run the LED as a flashlight, I can see over a few minutes the battery % goes down gradually.
This new phone, Samsung Galaxy Q, if I run the flashlight, nothing changes in a few minutes. But if I check back after locking the phone a few minutes later, it shows a battery drain.
Another example, before I went to bed, I had it charged to 100%. When I woke up 7 hours later, I checked and it was still at 100%. I checked after I got dressed a few minutes later, and it just dropped to 90%. During my trip to work about half way while playing music, half way to work, it was down to about 86%, kept checking, and no changes. When I got to work at my desk, the battery hit 77%.
My battery graph when I goto battery use is basically this, straight line....DROP, straight line...DROP, etc.
I have had my Epic 4g for two days now and I am having the some notification and email problems. I don't get notifications when new email is available. I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Does setcpu speed up the Moment at all or is its only real use for downclocking to save battery?

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?

A lot of the apps are on the I phone and I touch which is pretty cool. But can anyone tell me if it is possible to maybe change the phone kinda like jail breaking? View 4 Replies View RelatedMost every other "issue" to this phone has been a non-issue for me to this point.However, the one feature Samsung really screwed us on is the voice capabilities of the phone.I think they are tied to the Nuance system and therefore unusable by other apps like google voice search and where.I hope samsung or sprint writes a live search app for this phone.I bought the phone with the expectations of this phone being capable of voice commands without being limited by nuance.

The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?
Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work
Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.
I rooted my phone and tried to switch kernels and when i did my phone is just stuck on the samsung screen. I even tried to reflash using the sprint update but nothing is working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find a review on the Otterbox Commuter case for the Samsung Moment but I couldn't wait so I ordered one from the Otterbox website for $31.45 with free ground shipping using coupon code "techbargains6100p" (expires on the 31st). Delivery was fast, I ordered Tuesday night and got it today. I don't like buying things without reading reviews so I figured I'd post this for other people that feel the same.
Inside the box:
Inside the box is the case (2 pieces), a screen protector and a microfiber cleaning cloth. I can't comment on the quality of the screen protector because I had one of the "invisishield" screen protectors put on the phone the day I bought it.
Materials and quality:
*The case has a silicone layer on the inside that shouldn't scratch the phone, and has a hard plastic shell.
*The case makes the phone feel sturdy and seems like it would do a good job absorbing shock if the phone were to be dropped.
*I like the way the phone feels in my hand with the case on it, I also like that the phone won't get stuck in my pockets.
*The case has a nice look to it. The back is textured (I think brushed aluminum is the texture they wanted to give it, maybe woodgrain or a cross of the two)
Fit:
*The fit is mostly perfect. It has a cutout for the headphone jack, micro-usb port, microphone (on bottom of phone), front speaker, and back speaker. The side buttons are covered in silicone, but have raised portions where the buttons are. The volume rocker has arrows on it, but the buttons on the other side are not labeled (voice recognition, camera, but I know which one is which).
*The part of the case that goes on the screen half of the phone has an indent on the left, to aid sliding the phone open.
*The case snaps on very easily (it has snaps, I don't know if they are the same as the body glove snaps but they work fine) but is much harder to get off (not too hard, just hard enough that it won't accidentally come off).
*The main problem with the fit of this case is that it does interfere with the slider mechanism which makes it a little bit harder to open (just initially until it starts moving) and when you slide it shut you need to press the two halves together to shut it all the way.
*It adds less than 1/4 inch of bulk (possibly closer to 1/8 inch but I am terrible at guessing lengths and don't have a ruler handy).
Competitiveness:
I have seen people ask how it compares to the body glove. I did not buy or own a body glove so I can't really give a fair comparison. The body glove looks thinner and possibly less protective. I don't know what the texture is of the body glove but it seems similar. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of cases made for our phone so I don't know what else to compare it to.
Conclusion:
I wouldn't pay over $30 for this case. It will probably turn up on amazon.com for less than that within a few months. The quality of the case is good, but I think I might have paid a little bit extra to have the brand. If you already have a case you are happy with like the body glove it is probably better keep using that until the price comes down significantly.
