Samsung Moment :: Got Delayed Handcent Notifications?

Since updating to 2.1, I've noticed that when I get a text message, the Handcent pop-up appears, and then maybe 5-10 seconds later, I get the notification. This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?

I use Handcent for my messaging. For the last two days I have been experiencing some slow messaging. By this I mean that when I send a message or receive a message, there is a delay before the message being sent or received pops up on my screen. I don't know why that is. Sometimes it is delayed for 15 seconds before showing on the screen. I have not done anything to cause this change. Otherwise the handcent has been working perfectly.

I get 2x notifications when I receive messages with Handcent. I assumed the stock sms app was also notifying, but I think I turned that one off. Still getting the 2x notification

Been using Handcent for a long time now and generally happy with it. However I get random "failed to send" error messages. Over time I've come to discover that most of the time the message is an error and the intended txt message was indeed sent. If I resend most say they get the same txt multiple times. Is anyone else seeing this? I was gonna post over on the Handcent forum but I'm not registered there so figured I'd try here first. This has been happening for months now over all the version upgrades. I'm actually not so sure this is a Handcent thing or a hardware thing. And again this is very random and doesn't happen all that often. Using Firmware 2.1 update 1.

I decided today to look into lock screen replacements. I'd tried FlyScreen before, and felt it was way overkill. I just wanted something interesting where a third of my screen didn't just say "Sprint." I downloaded Lock 2.0 demo, which was sort of cool. But then I got a text message, which caused Handcent to do it's little pop up over the locked screen. Normally all good, but with the different lock screen, when I rotated the phone and slid out the keyboard, the screen did not re-orient itself. Is this an issue with Handcent? With Lock 2.0? Does it happen with any lock screen replacement?

I downloaded Handcent and when I try to use the feature for speak to text it tells me "Recognizer not present." Am I just missing another app that is needed?.

I own the Moment, which I want to throw through Sprints windows, and randomly, with full bars, get Error 97 or Error 7 when attempting to send text using Handcent, I have called Sprint on this several times over the last month or 2, each times, they do whatever they do on their end, and it works for a while or it doesn't. I finally take it to the store today on advice from a tech saying there may be an antenna issue, the tech at the store says no issues and that handcent MIGHT be my issue. Anyone ELSE seeing these network errors with Handcent? I don't believe that's the issue and feel Sprint just doesn't want to deal with it.

I'm using Handcent for SMS messages. I was sent some pics via MMS. I can view them fine but don't see a way to save them to the SD card/memory. Is there an option to save the pics in Handcent? I want to save them all before I update to CL14.

I recently copied all the files on the sd card that came with my moment and put them on an 8gig card. Also created a music folder and stuffed it full of my favorite tunes. Now when I get a text in Handcent it plays 2pac (the first song in the folder) The whole song~! I also downloaded mixzing to listen to my music. After this happened I uninstalled mixzing but that didnt help. I can change the notification sound in handcent but that dont work. Any idea why handcent is firing up my music player or folder? Im back to using the stock player but it still happens.

I just set up my Samsung Moment the other day and I made the mistake of adding an MSN email account to my email notifications. That email acc is the one i use to sign up for things, mostly junk. I get tons of emails in it every day. Is there a way to uninstall the MSN account?

I don't know what the heck is going on with our moments? My wife and I are not not getting any email notifications even though i did use to get some? I only have one account set up which is yahoo on both phones, and nothing! So unless I check maually to see if i got anything i won't know until i open my email account. is there an app which this can work better?

No way can I rely on notifications for my SMS messages or emails. The only thing that regularly shows up on the notification bar is missed calls.My Moment is about 6 weeks old and was pre-loaded with cl14.
Notifications work okay for a little bit if I toggle notifications off/on.. then after a day or so, nothing.
Anyone else find the notification area to be completely unreliable?

Traded my Hero for the Moment solely for the keyboard. A few things I learned quickly about the Moment that I wasn't aware of:
1) No LED for visual notifications. I miss that.
2) Not compatible with the Mac. You plug in the USB and it charges the phone...no mounting. Confirmed this with Sprint.
3) While the phone is very quick, there is a definite lag with typing on the hardware keyboard. I'm not a fast typist but it lagged by a letter almost always. If you look at the keyboard rather than what you are typing you are OK. I could adapt to this.
4) I thought the jiggle in the Pre was a bad until I met the Moment. The keyboard mechanism just seems too loose.
5) The joystick thing works great. I adapted immediately to it and really like it.
6) Screen is awesome.
I'd keep the phone if it weren't for the Mac incompatibility. That's a killer for me. Looks like I'm going back to the Hero and will deal with the soft keyboard. I thought about the Touch Pro2 but just can't go back To Windows Mobile.

I'm not getting any notifications at all when emails arrive. I went into the email menu and set it vibrate and to use my own notification (using the ringtone extender app) and nothing. What am I missing? I get custom notifications for messaging but not email

I finally updated to 2.1 yesterday with the SDX kernels, and I've noticed (among other things) that my phone does not vibrate on notifications of e-mail or text messages, even though I'm specifically telling it to do so. It doesn't do it when the phone's on silent, vibrate, or at full volume. In fact, there's a "test" mode in HandcentSMS and ever though vibrate is set to "Always," it doesn't vibrate, even when I tap on "Test notification." Even if I set the main control to vibrate when a call comes in, email and texts still do not cause a vibration. Has anyone seen this? I apologize if this has already been spotted--if it has, if you could point me to the link, that would be great.

Everytime I try to download an app it goes to download and I see the download bar but upon checking notifications find Download Unsuccessful waiting for me. To top it off my apps have updates avail that will not load either.
I never rooted the phone and had no problems up till now Yes I turned off power and removed the battery to reset..

Did some searching about trying to set up custom notifications for email and text and scilence the rest, it seems that people were having good results by using tone picker to scilence all notifications then setting custom ones in each app, however when I try to select silent through tone picker or andriod for default notifications it doesn't take.

This may not be the best place for this, but I'm hoping someone else here has seen this. The stock messaging app won't stop notifications even if they're turned off...even if the app is deleted? If mms.apk is installed, it keeps notifying me even though it's notifications is turned off. If I remove mms.apk it keeps notifying me that I have 0 new messages. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling and removing. I'm running a sdx kitchen rom with meatkernel 2.0.9/no jit and I have ChompSMS installed. I don't understand how the app can keep notifying me if it's uninstalled? Other than this, the rom has been rock solid with good bat life, so I don't want to flash to stock and start all over for the 5th time this week.

My volume just stops working for notifications and ringtones.After I take the battery out it starts to work again but then stops?I miss calls this way and dont know when im getting texted The phone also freezes alot and is slow whats the deal is there a fix? my phone came with the updated software 2.1.

IT HAS BEEN DELAY TILL LATE OCTOBER. If you're to believe Hands on Sprint Samsung Moment Android phone - Android and Me, we won't be getting Donut anytime soon. Skipping to 6:10 - "they" told him about Donut in 2010 for "Moment", I guess Galaxy won't be getting it prior to Moment, if ever. We really need Samsung to tell us officially about Donut because if the delay is true, it is a major blow to early adopters of their Android phones.

I recently downloaded handcent and I made it my default messenger. When I get a text message I get a notification from Handcent as well as the stock messenger. So my phone vibrates twice and I get two notifications. The only way I can get the notification icon off the top left is to clear it. When I click it, its just takes me to handcent.

Bet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

I finally tried handcent, and like it very much. One problem, I did everything I supposed to do to disable the stock sms. I still get double notifications.Open stock sms, hit menu, hit setting, uncheck auto retrieve, uncheck received notification.What else do i have to do?By the way, I'm having the EVO.
