I recently downloaded handcent and I made it my default messenger. When I get a text message I get a notification from Handcent as well as the stock messenger. So my phone vibrates twice and I get two notifications. The only way I can get the notification icon off the top left is to clear it. When I click it, its just takes me to handcent.

I have Handcent installed on my Samsung Galaxy Spica running cupcake. I have set it to be the default SMS app. However when I receive an SMS, I see two notifications 1 for Handcent and 1 for the native SMS app. I have looked into all settings but am not able to fix this issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedBet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?

Same with emails. For the past two weeks it has been fine, but now all of the sudden it stopped. Anyone have any idea? I went through and checked all the settings and they look good, but still nothing. I even uninstalled Handcent and tried reinstalling it and still nothing.

I recieve them and I see them in handcent but a few hours later its gone from handcent ( shows the last text as text from like a month ago) just started happening 2 weks ago. I tried removing handcent and re-installing. Even tried an older version. still happens. I can see the lastest text in the list of text BUT when I open that persons text its not there. And its all in the Stock Text app.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using handcent for almost a year now. 2 weeks ago, right at it, one of my most frequently used contacts for texting disappeared from handcent. The text comes through on board messenger but wont cross over to handcent. Out of 90 or so contacts this is the only contact with that issue. The contact is an AT&T contact, all other AT&T contacts work fine. I've removed the contact, reset the phone with battery removed, made new contact and still the same. It's almost like the number/name is cursed. This "cursed contact" comes through handcent on my wife's phone just fine.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI get a poor signal at home (did on my Nokia), so half the time when I send a text, there won't be a signal to send it. I always then go and put my phone in a place where there is a signal and leave it..
With my Nokias, the phone would send it fairly quickly (usually within 10-15 minutes).
The message is still sat in Handcent with the whirling round icon next to it. If I copy the message, and resend it, whilst there's a signal, away it goes. I can't find any way to force the send when I want, and I left the resend in a signal area for 1hr 15 mins and it still hadn't sent..
Has anyone else noticed that you can't send a text message to more than 10 people at a time through the stock text messaging app ever since Froyo? This was a major blow to me as I coach a softball team and have to send out a text message to 15 or more people every week. It worked before Froyo but not anymore.
Handcent allows this, so I switched over to it. But now I am getting double notifications when I receive a text message. How do I turn "off" the stock text messaging app?
How do i send a text to someone not in my contacts? If i click on the bit where i add a contact it will only bring up my contacts on my list. No option for just a number?

However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?
