Android :: Double Notifications With Handcent

Bet you are all thinking here's another idiot that doesn't know how to turn off notifications in the default android sms app?After installing Handcent I immediately disabled notifications in the default app so that only Handcent was generating them. This worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago when the default app started generating them. The option is definitely 100% disabled so I have no idea why it is still generating them. To make it worse even if I go into all messages with both Handcent and the default app my LED remains blue.

Since Installing Handent, I am receiving double notifications for my text messages. I know it is my fault, I just need to know what to do.I like the handcent app, just don't need two texts.

I have Handcent installed on my Samsung Galaxy Spica running cupcake. I have set it to be the default SMS app. However when I receive an SMS, I see two notifications 1 for Handcent and 1 for the native SMS app. I have looked into all settings but am not able to fix this issue.

Before I had the problem where both Handcent and my stock SMS would both tell me I have a new text message. I fixed This. I had to redown handcent. Now When I get a message it shows up twice in Handcent. It always tells me I have 2 messages. It is the same message.

I finally tried handcent, and like it very much. One problem, I did everything I supposed to do to disable the stock sms. I still get double notifications.Open stock sms, hit menu, hit setting, uncheck auto retrieve, uncheck received notification.What else do i have to do?By the way, I'm having the EVO.

So I just installed Handcent because of all the hype and it's pretty freakin awesome. My one gripe is how I receive most messages twice. Does anyone else have the issue or know how it can be fixed?

I'm new here and to the Htc hero and heres my problem When receiving a text message I get double notified on my task bar as I have installed handcent messaging and I even used task killer to stop the hero's version from notifying me.

Installed Handcent and I'm getting double notifications when a new text comes in. I recall going into System and disabling the notification for the standard Messaging app but I can't seem to find it.

I apologize for the topic, I understand this is a common question because I did search around before posting this.I know that I need to go into the stock messaging program and disable notifications for that program. However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?

There appears to be a problem with some android phones where even if the sms notifications are off they still pop up in the bar.Has anyone figured out how to turn this off on The Epic 4G.Ive been to messaging app and then also to system setting and I have not been able to get this off. I wanna use handcent but i get the dual notification problem.

I am getting 2 notifications for each new gmail I receive. One notification is the @ symbol and the other is the gmail notifier which I have installed. In the gmail notifier I have it set to use the gmail notifier icon (not Android 1.5/2.0 icons). My gmail account is not setup in the default mail client Why am I getting 2x notifications for new emails?

I did a factory re-set on my phone, and I use Handcent as my preferred IM application. Previously, I had "turned off" the notification sounds from the stock HTC messaging app, but now I cannot remember where I did that. I have gone to settings, but I cannot find how to turn it off for the life of me. Now I get double notifications, and I only want Handcent notifications.

I recently downloaded handcent and I made it my default messenger. When I get a text message I get a notification from Handcent as well as the stock messenger. So my phone vibrates twice and I get two notifications. The only way I can get the notification icon off the top left is to clear it. When I click it, its just takes me to handcent.

I love Handcent. Not so much Messaging App. I have the notifications disabled in Messaging App, but the damn thing is still doing it! I want Handcent notifications as they will also go away once you tap them to read the message, but the one from Messaging is remaining even after I click it to see the message.

Text Message icon and notifications gone after I uninstalled Handcent SMS. I have been unable to find anything online in regards to this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Also be wary of removing this application, FYI.

Since updating to 2.1, I've noticed that when I get a text message, the Handcent pop-up appears, and then maybe 5-10 seconds later, I get the notification. This is really annoying mainly because sometimes I've already read the message and replied or closed it, but now I have an annoying notification stuck there. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions on dealing with it (other than just dealing with it )?

Quick question about Handcent and the notification sounds. My wife's Droid was doing the whole "droid" sound everytime she received a text up until tonight and it stopped. Same with emails. For the past two weeks it has been fine, but now all of the sudden it stopped. Anyone have any idea? I went through and checked all the settings and they look good, but still nothing. I even uninstalled Handcent and tried reinstalling it and still nothing.

when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent.But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

My only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.
Is there a way, or an app, that would allow you to assign different notifications to emails vs texts vs missed calls?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to set the phone to re-notify you periodically if you have a notification that has not been looked at? I tend to leave my phone sitting on my desk at work and would like it to let me know if I missed a call or text while I was away from my desk.
Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
