Samsung Epic 4G :: Google Voice Must Save Wav
Oct 1, 2010
I'm pretty sure this was not the case on my Blackberry. On My Samsung Epic, I have to save my Google voice messages before I can play them. No way to play them over the web without saving them? I'm on 2.1 with a recent Dolphin browser.

I just got my Epic a few hours ago, and my girlfriend noticed that there seems to be no stock Voice Recorder application. Unfortunately thats something that very important because she records her nursing lectures. Am I missing it, or is there not one there. Also, if it is missing one, is there one in the market that works well, and that will work on the Epic?

I switched from the Hero to the Epic and have a question. With the Hero, if someone sent me an MMS pic, all I had to do was long click to save it. A save option appeared. The Epic doesn't seem to allow me to save any MMS pics sent to me. Am I missing something?

I tried searching for the question I'm about to ask and didn't find any threads so here it goes. Can someone post the steps to setting up Google Voice as visual voice mail for the Captivate? I know it's probably something very simple but I just can't figure it out ( yes, I'm a bit slow ).

When I use the facebook app to take photos and upload, they load fine. But I can't see the photos saved on the phone at all.
It seems like taking the photo via the facebook app does not save the photo to the sd card?
Anyone know if this is true or if the photos are saved somewhere on the phone?

The phone sounds an incoming call with the female voice identifying the name and number of the caller. Usually, I can't hear it--it's too soft. I've found and played with all the settings I'm aware (still learning more).

I have the voice mail notification on my home screen and for some reason, when there is a voice mail, there is no number next to it to advise me there is one. I am using Widget Locker if that matters. Everything else works with that.

I downloaded Voice Recorder and it seems to work fine, expect for one thing, the voice quality when played back sucks! My old Samsung Sync was so much easier to understand, when playing back voice recorded messages. The Epic has a lot of hiss and scratchiness to it. I hope that's not what other people are hearing on the other end of our conversations. Anyone else have similar results using Voice Recorder, or comments from people their talking to? Could the lousy quality be because of the app, or the Epic's mic?

I have two constant issues on my Epic-I've been ignoring them for a month but there must be a fix & I could really use your help! Also it would be good to hear from others who are seeing the same things so I know I am not completely insane...
1 - My screen brightness seems to adjust up on its own... To increase battery life I have it set all the way down...but, for example, as I was typing this post the brightness increased on its own... Any ideas?
2 - My voice recognition stops working all the time...not with one app either... Resetting my profile seems to fix it for about 5 minutes but it doesn't take long for it to go TU again

I am using Captivate on the AT&T network and looking into goggle voice. Since the main feature I am interested in (for now) is the visual voice mail, I was thinking of getting the option without the GV number and therefore, keeping my cell phone number. I have several questions:
1. Does this work well with the Captivate phone?
2. Is there any delay in getting the voice mails by going through GV?
3. Does this eat into my data plan at all? Currently, I am only on the 200 mb plan per month.
4. If I try to get text messages through GV, would that not use up my data plan and instead come through my Internet connection ( which could at times be free if I am in a WiFi zone)?

It seems like the directions for clearing the calendar cache and other tips don't work for the epic. I have five calendars on my Google Calendar : Personal, School, Finance, Work and Tasks. I am only getting Personal and Finance on my Epic for some reason. I am not sure why this occurred but I have not figured out a solution and its getting very frustrating since I bought an Android phone almost specifically for the easy google calendar integration. Any ideas for correcting this solely for the Epic?

I have had a Google Voice account for about 8 months. During that time I've used a G1, BB8700 and BH2 with the service. By far the BH2 is the worst. I get FC's all the time and the lag when making a call is absurd. I have to wait 10 - 30 seconds for the call to begin, then once the screen finally reflects that a call is being made it takes another 10-15 seconds for the call to begin ringing. In bound seems better, but it makes it hard to use efficiently. Also, I can't stand the fact that there isn't a "Use Google Voice" context menue when placing a call so that by default I use my regular phone number, but can easily switch to using my GV account when I want to. The BB app had this feature and it was awesome - it seems absurd to have to launch the GV app to make a call simply because I havent selected GV to be used for all calls. OK, rant over. Does anyone have a positive experience with GV? Am I just being unreasonable (wouldnt be the first time)

I have switched to VERIZON and got the Droid Incredible (And it really is). Anyway, I don't have a land line at home and I want to use my behold 2 as a house phone over WI-Fi. When I take the sim card out and try to make a call (Using goggle voice) it says not registered to the network. Using an unregistered Sim card sends the call to T-Mobile. How can I get it to use straight goggle voice?

Google Voice update to 0.3.4 (#13) is available in the market -- I don't see a changelog. I'm still checking it out and don't see anything remarkably different-- Curious if anyone knows what the updates include.
