Samsung EPIC 4G :: Google CAL - Syncing?
Sep 29, 2010I had it working fine on my Blackberry - can't get it right on the EPIC. It looks like it syncs fine from GCAL to the phone - but not from the phone to GCAL.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Syncing My Contacts
Nov 26, 2010I just got my new phone and linked my AOL email accounts to the phone...no matter what i do and no matter how much i delete the email that it picks up it still reappears in the email box over and over again...
yes i do get my new emails..but after i try to clear it all out it just pops back up again and again...i even went online and cleared everything out...still does it...
Samsung Epic 4G :: General Gmail Account Syncing
Sep 30, 2010I'm new to android so it may just be user error, but I'd like to think I'm fairly tech savvy and its not me.I've had my Epic for more than a month (got it on release day)
1.)I have a gmail account already on the phone and linked up.. but the email to it is somewhat complicated so i created another account via gmail.com (on the computer) and im having trouble having the phone connecting to the server and hosting the account.i think this might be a temporary google issue.
2.)I just got into a group at school that requires me to have a calendar.so i tried to creating all of my dates and times on my phone and then syncing it but apparently i had "My Calendar" checked so it won't go do i have to start over? and will it work this time?
3.)I just now decided that i also want to sync my contacts to my gmail account, but i already have 150+ contacts in my phone.I understand that you have to select save to "google" as opposed to "phone" when saving a new contact my question is... do i have to manually go through all 150+ contacts and change this? or is there another way to sync them?

Sep 3, 2010Is there a way to selectively sync Facebook contacts to my phone? I have roughly 1000 Facebook "friends" but only 300 are really friends and family and the rest are mainly gaming friends for games like Mafia Wars, etc. and I don't want to sync those. I want the Facebook contacts who I personally know to show up when I use the contacts icon on the home screen. I would like to sync them but I'm afraid it will import the list and I would have to manually delete them.

May 9, 2013Dropped my Samsung S2 into water and it was not at all salvageable. To my shock I wasn't using a micro SD nor are my data as SYNCED at I thought they were - basically I lost all my contact numbers. I borrowed another S2 so I'm still using Android.
My question is, in order not to lose all my painfully re-built-in-progress contacts, how do can I save numbers that will be synced to my gmail account? here's my actual question:
I was asked where to save the new entries I put in, thinking in terms of syncing I chose to save to google. HOWEVER, google synced with the existing contacts i have with GMAIL. I.e. I can't locate a friend's contact card without having to dig through a WHOLE list of email addresses, e.g. some random inquiry email address that was a one off and i will NEVER use again.
HOW can i separate the two? My objective: save contacts somewhere which can be autosynced so my contacts can be retrieved in case phone dies again/to make it available for syncing on any new device/just as a reassuring back up - WITHOUT mingling them with gmail contacts (i.e. pure email addresses not phone numbers) .
Another observation, if you are still reading, a friend sent me some contact cards via whatsapp, and despite having chosen to save contacts by default to google (instead of sim/SD), those contact cards are saved on the phone. What's my best option? Thinking of getting S4 and seriously, manually putting everything in again is unthinkable, almost an insult to smartphones...
If i may side trek further, when i lost all my data, my calendar events were the only thing I have "sync-saved". For whatsapp history (from where ppl who thought i used an iphone said) it is saved on icloud so all the conversations will be kept intact AND from whatsapp u can make out a lot of the numbers. Instead for android there's not syncing with a cloud for whatsapp, now I have fired up whatsapp again I get these "Shell" group chats with no history and just several numbers which i dunno who's who. If android users can benefit from background saving of whatsapp history ONLINE (and not inside the phone i.e. like me lost when sth abrupt happens?)

Jul 29, 2010Being new to Android with the Captivate, I didn't really understand how the syncing with outlook would work. This is what works for me.
1. I keep all my contacts, calendar, and appts. on Outlook on my home PC, so I downloaded the Google Calendar Sync that runs in my system tray.
2. I logged into the Google account and clicked on having Outlook being the main and moving info to Google. I then set the minutes to 10 between syncing.
3. The app will then upload calendar, contacts, and tasks to Google (I only had Yahoo before).
4. My phone settings has Google set to automatically update, after a few more minutes, you will see all the uploaded information sync to your phone.
5. If I am not home, and I now have my Google Calendar Sync set to 120 minutes and that both website and Outlook are combined. I can then enter something on my phone, new contact, or whatever and when I get home it is sitting in my outlook.
Its not reinventing the wheel by any means. But I really struggled on the learning curve so if this helps someone knew great.

Sep 7, 2010This is a weird problem but when my calendar syncs it syncs all the events but they are all several hours later than they are on my Google Calendar on my computer. I'm looking at my phone and my computer right now, and all the events are here except all events on my phone are pushed back. Any ideas?

Aug 8, 2010Up until today I've had my phone syncing with Google (Contacts and Calendar). Through a bit of searching and work, I've now finally got Kies installed and I want to have my Captivate sync only with Outlook. The problem I see at this point is that if I sync now, I'm basically going to have everything duplicated in my phone. I simply want to remove the Gmail account and all my existing contacts, calendar entries, etc.
When I go into Accounts & Sync, if I attempt to remove gmail, it states that some programs are using this and I'll have to do a factory restore to remove it. This would apparently remove all my downloaded software which I definitely don't want to do. The phone is rooted and enabled for side loading along with all of AT&T's bloatware blown out. Is there another option that I might be missing to remove this? I really want to use Kies and stop using gmail to sync.

Sep 10, 2010It seems like the directions for clearing the calendar cache and other tips don't work for the epic. I have five calendars on my Google Calendar : Personal, School, Finance, Work and Tasks. I am only getting Personal and Finance on my Epic for some reason. I am not sure why this occurred but I have not figured out a solution and its getting very frustrating since I bought an Android phone almost specifically for the easy google calendar integration. Any ideas for correcting this solely for the Epic?

Sep 7, 2010When I go into my contacts, I have a crap load of random contacts. I go into my contacts and click on groups, and click on Google, and I have 152 "Not assigned" contacts. People I may have just emailed once or do not need them in my phone. Is there anyway to delete these contacts from here?

Sep 9, 2010Per the title, there are new versions of Maps and Street View in the market. The Maps update is just to add walking directions I think and the street view was a more polished update. Street view doesn't work after install, at least on my Epic. I open maps, pick a road and long-click on it. A balloon pops up saying "Loading address" for about 30 seconds then give me a pop-up error that says "Data Connection Lost, Retrying" But, data is working just fine on the phone everywhere else. Try rebooting the phone after install, it helped. Still some errors but much better than before. It is awesome when it works. Try compass mode.

He wants to sync his contacts and calendar.On my Droid, I go to accounts & sync > add account > Google > enter my address and password.i get offered to sync Calendar and/or Contacts, by clicking on the check box.On his Epic, he adds the account, but there are no options, no check boxes! Is this different somehow? It works fine with his gmail, but not his generic Google account. On my Droid it all works fine and everything is in sync.

General :: Syncing Different Google Calendars In S Planner And Google Calendar App
Aug 17, 2013Recent switcher to Android and owner of brand new Galaxy S4 here. I have two separate Gmail accounts, one for work and one for home. Each has its own Google Calendar. Both accounts are linked to my phone.
However, I want separate apps on my GS4 to handle each Google calendar. My phone came with S Planner and I have added Google Calendar App (GCA) from the Play store.
On S Planner I choose to display the home account calendar - no problems so far. I then switch to GCA and choose to display the work account calendar. Great. However, and this is my problem, these apps now seem to be 'linked', such that when I then go back into S Planner from GCA it is now displaying the work account calendar instead of the home calendar.
In other words, changes in one app seem to be mirrored in the other app. Is there any way around this, so that each app only displays one account calendar?

General :: Not All Photos Syncing Between Google Drive / Google+
Sep 22, 2013I have a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.I am trying to sync all my Google Drive photos with my Google + account. In Google + I have checked the box to allow Google Drive to sync with Google Drive. Most of the pictures show up in Google + without a problem. Some however, do not. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to this either. All of my photo folders. It doesn't seem to be related to one format or another. (Ex. One JPG file is there and another isn't)
