Sep 24, 2010Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

I've been messing with setcpu and trying out some underclocking profiles. Underclocking while the screen is off as well as reducing the CPU power has gotten me 75% battery left after 8 hours. This is with constant emails but no wireless, bluetooth, or gps. This is better than I was getting under windows mobile.

Jan 16, 2013I want to be able to sync Google searches done on my laptop to my phone. So if I search for best places to eat in Washington DC with my laptop using chrome, I want it to appear in the recent search results history when I open the Google search app. Is this possible?
Right now, when I open the Google search app it only shows the history of searches done on my phone. I have gone into the settings of search and selected show recent search history, but it still only shows searches done from my phone.

Sep 15, 2010I've had this phone since day one and I've ran the battery down almost every day and only had minimum "low battery" alerts but tonight I am getting a warning flash on the screen every 10 seconds saying "Low Battery: Please Charge Battery". Seriously, every 10 seconds and it started at 15% battery left.so I have at least 30-60 minutes of life left.

Jun 10, 2010This phone has a great feature that i wish I had on my Pre. After searching for something in google it allows you to search for it with Sprint Navigation. Problem is that when I hit Sprint Nav it says the destination is "null" and I still have to manually type it all out which sucks for driving. In "maps" the destination address is already filled in. Is there a way to fix this or a setting needed to have the address input automatically in sprint nav?

I recently noticed some annoying behavior: I wanted to find the AT&T app on my phone, so I typed the letters "at" into the home screen search bar. No apps appeared. I was surprised, so I searched through the app drawer and found the app that I needed. It's name is "myAT&T". I then discovered that if I type the letters "my" into the home screen search bar, the app will appear. The bottom line is that the Android search bar only searches for apps, contacts, etc., by the first letter. I also noticed the same behavior in the browser with regard to bookmarks.

Oct 6, 2013I am trying to stop Google Chrome from saving my searches. I have already done the following:
1. On Google home page, click "Settings-->Search settings".
2. Towards the bottom of the page, click "search history".
3. Click "Turn Web History off".
Now, when I search on my desktop, the searches are not saved. However, if I do a Google search from my phone through Google Chrome, the search will be saved. The search will not be saved if I do the search through the stock browser. I don't know how to stop this from happening. Is it something to do with Google Now maybe?
I am using a HTC Butterfly S 901s, running Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.
General :: Google Searches On Home PC Shows Up On Phone?
Aug 17, 2012I type in "ducks without feathers" on my work or home pc and that same search shows up on my galaxy s3 a little while later. Im connected to a wireless network on both and signed in to google on all 3. Is this why? Does it work the opposite where things written on the phone show up on the computers? I find this invasive if i want to search something in private but it shows on my work pc?

Jan 6, 2013I have a number of applications on my phone that are just search plugins. (Searchify, for example.) At some point before 4.2, they "stopped working". I've come to discover that they still work fine if, after doing an initial search and pressing enter or selecting a suggestion, you scroll the bottom bar all the way to the right and select "Phone".
To preempt some questions: the initial screen's suggestions do include applications I can run, just not searching "inside" applications. I have verified that the applications I want to search inside are enabled in the search settings. I have disabled Google Now, but I've tried reenabling it, with no improvement in results.

Oct 7, 2010I received the update yesterday.I did about 20 speed checks.Browsed on roaming for at least a half hour.Was roaming standby overnight,slept at my girlfriends in the hills.Today did moderate calls of about a half hour.At 29 hours 30 minutes my battery is still 50%.Huge difference so far. Oops, forgot I charged in the car for 30 minutes.But this is still way better than before.

Sep 5, 2010I'd like to thank the people over at XDA.I think they may have found the culprit for the horrible battery performance some of us are seeing. There are two threads of interest over there:Time without signal > 50% - xda-developers Wow battery from 100 to 10 in 3 hours xda-developers.The short of it is that the 3G signals don't stay locked and the phone keeps hunting.If you go under the battery life settings and click on "Cell Standby" there's a field for "Time Without Service".Mine and many others were hover around 50%.This is constantly draining battery even while you do nothing.So the temporary quick fix is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn it right back off.This fixes some incorrect setting.On my phone, Time Without Service dropped from 52% last night to 0% today.And my battery only dropped about 9-10% idling over night.This is MUCH better than the 30% draining overnight I was seeing over the past few days.

Sep 1, 2010Just picked up the Epic yesterday, and already been having issues all day long. The phone has does this about 5 or 6 times today. It will fade away, and when I come back to it a little later to check messages or anything, it will all be blacked out, and nothing will come back. (by hitting the power button) No matter what I push, the screen stays black, and the phone seems like it is off. (A few times, the lights have stayed on, and the buttons act like they are responding, but nothing works still) It has also lost signal completely twice today, and I've had to restart it to get signal back.

Sep 23, 2010I am coming to the conclusion that the poor battery charge time is a result of the batteries and not the phone. The reason I believe this to be true is: I purchased the charger that comes with a spare battery and it takes a good 3-4 hours to charge in that, with no phone attached. Batteries in my previous phones would take an hour to fully charge in a dedicated charger. I bet when Seidio comes out with batteries for this phone, we will see much better charge times and possibly better battery life.

Sep 3, 2010I've had my phone unplugged since 11AM this morning. It's now 8PM. My battery meter shows 1h 30m since unplugged (I think this is the built-in status from the OS). Additionally my battery widget shows 26% but the blue batter in the top corner shows 1/2 full. Are there any good battery meters out there that I can trust? Aug 22, 2010Battery life and Battery stability. I still cannot seem to get a good consistent battery life from my Evo. One day it lasts 10 hours the next I get only 5 hours with about the same usage time and its driving me bonkers. If I find the Epic to be more reliable with power management I'm keeping the Epic and changing over. Its all up to the battery now!
