View 4 RepliesI know there are issues with Bluetooth voice dialing not working with the Epic (and that Samsung is supposed to fix it soon, I HOPE), but is there a way to voice dial without a Bluetooth?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running the latest simply stunning and it does not have bluetooth voice dial. I know a rom i ran before this did have it (it was a 2.2 rom) but I have run so many I don't remember which one it was. So does anyone know what roms support this feature?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy husband bought an Incredible the other day and he has had one problem that is potentially a deal breaker. He uses his phone in the car a lot and part of that he uses a bluetooth headset. When playing with the phone he found he could not simply press the button on his jawbone to bring up voice dial (which I mean, we could do on motorola flip phones many many years ago). Even if he puts a shortcut the the "voice dial" application he needs to unlock the phone by pressing the top button, slide the unlock screen, press the app, then say his command.
If that were not enough there is no repeat back to the headset, you must manually confirm the selection. I don't know about you but to me that seems to defeat the purpose of voice dialing, which is meant to keep your hands free and eyes on the road. I have seen gesture search recommended but that would not be ideal to use while on the freeway. Are there any workarounds to make this work properly? I was wondering if on other phones the root community has developed their own solution to the problem on other phones as well, that might give him a little hope for when the incredible gets rooted.
I updated my EVO 4G last night to Android 2.2. I started using the bluetooth voice dial feature this morning and I must say the new feature is still incomplete. There is no verification prompt after telling the phone who you want to call. You could say "Call Robin Cell" and it will dial Rob Cell without prompting you for verification. This means you have to scramble to grab the damn phone and hang up before it makes a connection with the wrong person. The lack of a hands free verification feature totally negates Android 2.2 bluetooth voice dial.
Microsoft Voice Command still has my respect in this regard no doubt. All it needs to do is repeat the name it is about to dial by saying (Prompt: "Call Robin at Cell" Answer: "Yes" or "No"). Why would they not do their homework on something like this and at least listen to how Microsoft Voice Command works? If they think there bluetooth voice dialing is flawless thats fine, but they still need to include the option for verification.
Does pressing the Bluetooth headset "call" button and then speaking "call John Doe." work with Nexus One? (Essentially making a call without physically touching the phone.)
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo trying to use a Bluetooth headset or hands-free speaker doesn't work on the Ally with v2.1 and the update. Does rooting and installing another ROM fix this? Allegedly this is fixed in Froyo, but who knows when (if?) the Ally will get it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSeriously, 2.1 still doesn't do voice dialing over Bluetooth. I have been patiently waiting for 2.1 to come out and finally installed it tonight. Fired it up and there still isn't a way to voice dial over Bluetooth? This is nuts! I am getting rid of this piece of crap! I am done unless I am missing something.

Is it possible to reassign this button to open another app? Like Google now? Or a Siri clone?
How can I voice dial from my bluetooth when the screen's timed out? Phone's in holster, screen's timed out, press & hold bluetooth headset, get double tone indicating screen timed out. Must remove phone from holster, unlock, then manually press Voice Command shortcut to activate. A real PITA, especially when driving. Have car doc, Voice Command works from bluetooth, but need to activate when phone is in holster.

I just splurged on an Epic and I am loving the phone so far but I noticed a small glitch and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there is a solution. I noticed that the dialpad sometimes has a lag when entering numbers into the dial pad. To clarify:
Yesterday I was calling my cable service provider. I was prompted by the automated customer service sytem to enter in my phone number. At this point I had the phone to my ear and and in order to enter my phone number I then proceeded to remove the phone from my ear and started punching in the numbers. The phone screen awoke from sleep and as I started to punch in the numbers I noticed that the screen did not register my touch enteries right away. In fact I had to press the screen a couple of times before the screen press was registered and the correct selection was made. It only seems to occur under these circumstances: The phone screen is off due to the light sensor being covered while the phone is next to your ear. If you remove the phone from your ear and then proceed to enter numbers on the dialpad some lag does occur and the numbers do not show up immediately. In fact the screen will not even resgister the few one or two attempts at making a selection.
Is there any type of speed dial widget i can use to easily call people? Something where I can put all of my contacts on the page so i can see all of their pictures and just click to call. Similar to the speed dial of the touch pro 2. I'm using Launcher pro and don't see anything for it
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there ANY way to assign a # on the dial pad to speed dial a contact? I want to do a long press on a number say#3 and it will auto dial the contact assigned to it. I cant figure it out. If I long hold a number it just says NO SPEED DIAL ENTRY. This is driving me NUTS. I have The Epic BTW.

How do i get my Txt messages read outloud? Is there anyway i can dedicate a button to use Voice command that way i don't have it navigate through the screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my Epic a few hours ago, and my girlfriend noticed that there seems to be no stock Voice Recorder application. Unfortunately thats something that very important because she records her nursing lectures. Am I missing it, or is there not one there. Also, if it is missing one, is there one in the market that works well, and that will work on the Epic?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if by chance, with the pending upgrade in the near future for the Moment, if it will correct the voice dial compatibility with a BT headset? Coming from a BB Curve, I miss the above and also the speak option when it comes to the search and driving navigation. I am thinking I may have made a mistake.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I don't have google contacts I can't get voice dialing to work.. Does anyone know if Voice Dialing works with Froyo? I think its kind of crazy that my Motorola Razor had voice dialing stock and this does not.
View 10 Replies View RelatedTwo simple questions:
How do you delete bookmarks of the browser? How do you create a pause in the speed dial for voice mail?
The phone sounds an incoming call with the female voice identifying the name and number of the caller. Usually, I can't hear it--it's too soft. I've found and played with all the settings I'm aware (still learning more).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty sure this was not the case on my Blackberry. On My Samsung Epic, I have to save my Google voice messages before I can play them. No way to play them over the web without saving them? I'm on 2.1 with a recent Dolphin browser.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the voice mail notification on my home screen and for some reason, when there is a voice mail, there is no number next to it to advise me there is one. I am using Widget Locker if that matters. Everything else works with that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why I can't hear notifications or calls in my Bluetooth on the Samsung Epic? I have on all my other phones and if I could that would solve my silent ring tone problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I both just got Epic 4G's, and neither one of them will stream Pandora via bluetooth to my Sony XPlod car stereo correctly. Both of them experience major dropouts in the sound. Streaming songs loaded onto the SD card via bluetooth works fine, and streaming pandora via a cable out the headset jack on the phone to the aux in of the stereo works fine as well. So the problem only happens when Pandora specifically tries to stream over the bluetooth. (I am using a Sony XPlod car stereo).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Voice Recorder and it seems to work fine, expect for one thing, the voice quality when played back sucks! My old Samsung Sync was so much easier to understand, when playing back voice recorded messages. The Epic has a lot of hiss and scratchiness to it. I hope that's not what other people are hearing on the other end of our conversations. Anyone else have similar results using Voice Recorder, or comments from people their talking to? Could the lousy quality be because of the app, or the Epic's mic?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Jawbone bluetooth headset that worked great on the Moment with the 1.5. Updated and now, when I press the call button on the headset, sometimes nuance voice control will open and ask "Say A Command"... i do so, and most of the time it will just go back to the home page. Sometimes it hears the command and will ask to confirm it. At that point, it just stays there, even after i say "Yes" 55 times, and then goes back to home screen. If I manually dial the number it will route it to the headset and all is well with the world. But driving, this is a pain and crashing is a really sucky option. Anyone else have anything like this happening? Any ideas? I am sure this issue has been beaten like a slow horse but I am tired of swerving all over the road trying to make a call.....
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two constant issues on my Epic-I've been ignoring them for a month but there must be a fix & I could really use your help! Also it would be good to hear from others who are seeing the same things so I know I am not completely insane...
1 - My screen brightness seems to adjust up on its own... To increase battery life I have it set all the way down...but, for example, as I was typing this post the brightness increased on its own... Any ideas?
2 - My voice recognition stops working all the time...not with one app either... Resetting my profile seems to fix it for about 5 minutes but it doesn't take long for it to go TU again
I am joining the Captivate crowd. Currently browsing deals (frustratingly, most won't allow me to choose the small plan I require).
I read a few places that you can't use voice command/control when the phone is on bluetooth. Has there been any change to this since it was first released?
My car stereo is equipped to use a phone via bluetooth, with a microphone mounted by the rear view mirror. I live for this at times, but voice dialing would be 10x more helpful than scrolling through contacts on the stereo screen.
Also, I'd love to know if you can legitimately get visual voicemail without paying a monthly fee? At least for now, I want to keep the phone legit and not mess with warranty, etc.
I'm obviously asking for a brand new phone - as of right now, not "well, when it was released x, y, z" as I think sometimes things change quickly with phones.
