Is there a way to protect certain files on this phone like my photos, call log and etc. I noticed in my files there is an option to show hidden files but how would i go about hiding files

I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI had a Galaxy Ace S5830 phone and now I've changed my phone. It had one app that I could protect any of my gallery photos with a password. I don't know if it was a pre-installed app by Samsung or I had installed it manually and I can't remember the name of that. I need it for my new Galaxy Note... Remember I just want special photos in my gallery to be password protected. I DON'T mean an "App Locker Program, such AppLocker Pro app or similar to it".
View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay this is incredibly annoying. My Captivate locks while I am in a call. If I pull the phone away from my ear, the screen will stay blacked out until I press the power button. For a split second, the screen shows locked then automatically transitions to the phone UI. Even if I use speaker phone, the phone eventually locks and I must depress the power button to end the call or dial other numbers. Is this normal for this device? I previously owned the iPhone 3g and the screen would black out, but would come right back on when you moved the phone away from your face or if you just shook the phone a bit.

The screen is black....the buttons on the bottom light up and function. but I can't see a thing.

My Captivate wont go past the Galaxy S logo screen anymore and the bottom buttons stay lit. I can get it into recovery mode but I would like to save some pics and vids that I have on the internal SD card. Anyway to save files before I Odin flash this thing? Droid explorer sees the phone but wont show the paths/files.

Considering getting an SD card to hopefully help with that but not sure if it is just my imagination. Anything else for performance tweaking would be great too.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my Captivate and am a Android convert from Iphone and many Windows Mobile devices. So far I like the phone and the app store however am annoyed I can't get outside android programs to load.I have seen the sticky on this but am leery to attempt it.In the meantime I have some questions.
1. Is there a regular way most people use to move their movie files over to this phone? I tried doubleTwist, however I have selected just one folder and it grabs everything in all media folders and I have deselected looking at Windows Media Player and Itunes so this is causing me much frustration. Is there an easier way?
2.I just realized that the phone doesn't utilize an alarm clock feature. I know this is very minor, I am assuming there is an app for that.
3.Any advice an a good ebook reader for this phone?
I know I have more, but I'll stop here for now. The syncing part is just driving me nuts!
Is it normal that my Captivate makes this weird buzzing sound while the phone is making a call? Also, while I'm talking to someone on it, you can still hear that buzzing sound as they talk. IDK if it's a speaker issue or an AT&T issue or what.

I've tried lowering the volume but it still seems to be doing it. Not to mention, even with the audio turned all the way up it's hard to hear the people I'm talking to.

Which is the best way to protect them from outer access from phone or from PC. XMLs can be encrypted. And images too, however there are times when they need to be accessed very often and encrypting-decrypting is very heavy operation. XML encryption is manageable but images cause memory problems. Is there any alternative way, something at folder level ?

With the backflip it was so simple, take the pic, tap share, tap facebook.I tried that on this phone but when I do share my options are picasa, bluetooth, gmail, email, allshare, messaging and online locker.And when I log onto facebook through the website or app there is no option for uploading photos.I have googled this topic to death and find absolutely nothing.
View 13 Replies View RelatedWhen I select a picture from the "My Pictures" menu, I then hit the right soft key to get into the "Options" menu and I scroll down to and select the fourth option, "Zoom/Rotate". When I am finally done zooming/ rotating the picture, it seems as though I'm left with no option to save it. I've pressed every button that I could think of and nothing seems to work. I can't imagine that this option is not available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't remember how I did it, but I was somehow able to upload all the photos that I've taken with the camera to Picasa. Now I have quite a few videos in there as well, but I do remember a message saying that videos are not supported by Picasa and that only the photos would be uploaded. I'm now trying to do the same thing, but whenever I choose the entire 'Camera' folder to upload to Picasa, the only 'Share' options are YouTube, Gmail, and Bluetooth. Does anyone know how I may have done that the first time, or a way to sync photos from the gallery to Picasa web albums?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm seeing strange photos in this widget when I click on the weather part of the widget, and then select the white helmet-looking icon that pops up second from the left. A sequence of about five photos pop up. They appear to be photos taken from the road in and around the city I traveled to today. One photo has today's date time-stamped on it...I'm not taking any photos today so not sure why they would appear.
I'm sure there is a simple explanation, I just can't figure out what the photos are supposed to be and why they pop up from within this widget.
I just downloaded the Sideload Wonder Machine and well.... I don't know where or how to get the apk. files....

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm able to get AC3 5.1 @ 640kbs to work with my 720p mkv files but the playback skips about every 5 seconds. Other then that It looks and sounds amazing! I've tried encoded to 5.1 FLAC and AAC but it doesn't play at all. Are there any encoding experts out there?

I had problems with my PC (Vista) recognizing the phone but now it seems to be working but I don't know if I should just drag and drop my music files to the droid or if I need to use a program to sync it. I have media money but it doesn't seem to be syncing up with my phone. I also would like to know if there is an app that would work better then the AT&T music player which I have read sucks.

I've loaded some R rated movies (Wedding Crashers, Superbad, etc) which contain adult content.I notice that the movies are accessible from the Camera and Gallery apps. I let my kids play games and take pics and dont want them to be able to access these so easily.Are my only options to remove the movies or not let them use my phone?
I have a samsung captivate. I am using the gmail app for 2 accounts, one work google apps account with its own customized url and one personal with a gmail extension. I have downloaded officesuite, quickoffice and thinkfree apps that supposedly help open office files. no luck. I have opened pdfs.I get lots of xls and ppt a day which i have to view. In the gmail app inbox view, all that happens is i can click the preview button for the attachment at the bottom of the email. there is no download button. When i get the preview button pressed, it gives me the circle of death spinning round and round saying "fetching attachment" and nothing happens, i hit the home key to end the fiasco.in my personal account it is working. In the google apps act, the wheel of death.
