I heard some rumor a while ago that plugging the Captivate into a computer could wipe out some of your data. Just want to to get some input on how to go about it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this is a Noob question but this is my very first droid phone(Samsung Vibrant) and have a couple questions and I will thank anyone who can answer them for me.
1.How do I set the phone to whenever I take pictures or download music it is saved to the SD card and not the phone memory?
2.How do I transfer photos from my PC to my Phone? I am trying to transfer some pictures to my phone to set as the background.
Just switched over to the captivate from an iphone 3gs. im liking it so far but i think ive just barely scratched the surface. anyway i was wanting to know if its possible to run a windows application from my laptop on my phone. see im using the laptop for data logging on my car, so i was thinking if its possible to run the app on my phone then i wouldnt need to bring my laptop with me in the car anymore just hook it up to my phone! im thinking it sounds too good to be true, but if there is a way could someone show it to me

I was just gonna go with the ol' drag and drop. Is there a better way? And second question...When I have my phone plugged into my computer I can't do anything on the phone. It just says connected and i can't get off the screen. How do I change that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Captivates on my family plan. I just downloaded(using Appbrain) a bunch of apps to my phone. I want to switch to and use my wife's Captivate which is brand new. How can I get all of my apps onto her phone? If I put my sim card in hers and sync w/ Appbrain will it install all of the apps I have on mine? If I put her sim card in my old Captivate and sync her Appbrain account will that erase my old apps and install hers?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got it last night at ATT b&m (for $149!!) and yes (as my lovely wife can attest) I was captivated for many an hour. Battery cycling. Overall VERY good despite the posts I've read. Very intuitive UI but I could see where some mods would be sweet. EXCELLENT GPS performance; 15-30 sec fixes INDOORS with 5-10m accuracy w/out WiFi. My BJII was never this good. Excellent You Tube performance WITH HQ playback. 8GB SDHC works flawlessly, My only suck is phone contacts transfer from WM6. BTW - bod was 7/22/10. Now on to the Market, sideloading and may be root.

I finally got the account synced or so it says, and if Im in contacts and click on the far right tab I can see everyone's status but none of the facebook profile pics have been applied.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the captivate (had the backflip) and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to upload photos to facebook. With the backflip it was so simple, take the pic, tap share, tap facebook.I tried that on this phone but when I do share my options are picasa, bluetooth, gmail, email, allshare, messaging and online locker.And when I log onto facebook through the website or app there is no option for uploading photos.I have googled this topic to death and find absolutely nothing.

I have been trying to find a driver but none of them work, am I really going to have to pay $30.00 for a one time download of a driver or is there another way!?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI presently have a windows 6.0 phone, an older htc fuze on at&t. it's getting long in the tooth and a little quirky so I'm looking to upgrade.I saw the captivate appear a few days ago on at&t's website and did some research on it. Although it has a few potential problems, I don't think they outweigh the pluses.What I'm really concerned about is I have quite a few Excel spreadsheets and Word docs on the fuze storage card that I would like to be able to continue to use on the captivate.Is this possible?Keeping in mind that I do not have to upgrade now, does the forum think it would be better to wait until the at&t captivates ship with 2.2 or go ahead and get a 2.1 unit now and do the android upgrade later?Or is the 2.2 release date still to iffy to wait?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI have connected the Captivate to my Windows 7 64 Bit PC. I have downloaded the updated drivers and installed them. I have tried all the different types of connection as mass storage etc... Nothing seems to work. I can see the phone in Device Manager and in the explorer it shows three removable disks; however, when I try to open them it tells me to insert disk.
Does anyone know how to connect this to my PC?
I have a new Captivate and am attempting to establish a USB connection with Windows XP sp2.
I have downloaded setup two different USB drivers, (1) from Samsung--I assume it's the official driver, and (2) from the Android SDK. Both installations ran without error. But when I attempt to install either driver, Windows complains that it cannot locate the driver. I'm at a loss.
Windows is finds the Captivate when connected but only intermittently. Sometimes it identifies it and sometimes it doesn't.
I admit i'm an Android newbie. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to transfer files from my computer to my external SD card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the camera resolution set to superfine(5mp) and it takes really good pics.However,when I transfer them to my laptop and try to view them with the windows photo viewer they aren't anywhere near the resolution I took them in.Is there something I did or not doing ?,I took a 5mp Pic,transferred it to my pc and it showed up at less than 15kb in size when it should have been like 2-3 megs.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I select a picture from the "My Pictures" menu, I then hit the right soft key to get into the "Options" menu and I scroll down to and select the fourth option, "Zoom/Rotate". When I am finally done zooming/ rotating the picture, it seems as though I'm left with no option to save it. I've pressed every button that I could think of and nothing seems to work. I can't imagine that this option is not available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my car bluetooth downloads the phonebook from my captivate, it downloads some contacts, but doesn't download the ones from my exchange server. They show up fine in the contacts app, but the car doesn't receive them. I thought it might be an issue with the way they were put into the contacts, so I undid the built in android exchange account, deleted the contacts, then installed touchdown and populated it that way. Still no joy. I thought that originally it was downloading them correctly (using the built in exchange sync) but either stopped working correctly, or never was and I just now noticed it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble transferring songs AND playlists from iTunes to my Samsung Captivate. I've tried a lot of things and every one of them just transfers over the songs from the playlist and not the actual playlist. I really like the Music Player Samsung has and I want to use that one, but nothing seems to transfer playlists to it. I've tried doubletwist (only transfers the music, not the playlists), iTunes agent, (same) dazzboard (doesn't work at all), and songbird (so buggy and slow, impossible to use... gave up) There has to be some way to get that player to work with iTunes or to import everything from iTunes and use it with the Samsung Music Player.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't remember how I did it, but I was somehow able to upload all the photos that I've taken with the camera to Picasa. Now I have quite a few videos in there as well, but I do remember a message saying that videos are not supported by Picasa and that only the photos would be uploaded. I'm now trying to do the same thing, but whenever I choose the entire 'Camera' folder to upload to Picasa, the only 'Share' options are YouTube, Gmail, and Bluetooth. Does anyone know how I may have done that the first time, or a way to sync photos from the gallery to Picasa web albums?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm seeing strange photos in this widget when I click on the weather part of the widget, and then select the white helmet-looking icon that pops up second from the left. A sequence of about five photos pop up. They appear to be photos taken from the road in and around the city I traveled to today. One photo has today's date time-stamped on it...I'm not taking any photos today so not sure why they would appear.
I'm sure there is a simple explanation, I just can't figure out what the photos are supposed to be and why they pop up from within this widget.
