I've searched for an answer to this but so far nada so I'm asking. Is there a way to manage or keep the home keys lit while the screen is on? On my new captivate the turn off very quickly. They do light up after I've pressed one but I'd like to be able to hit the key first off.

when I first got it I noticed that I had home screens on both the left and right of the center screen now it seems my "home" screen can only be on the right. So if I hit the home button it scrolls all the way to the right screen. btw I was an avid iphone supporter but have converted so I'm also a noob to the Android scene but so far I regret making this decision so late in the game!!

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any app/hack/widget to keep the backlights on the bottom buttons on just as long as the screen is backlit? So annoying how quickly they go off. Equally as annoying is how quickly the screen goes to sleep after you get a text. It literally stays on for 2 seconds, so I have to press the power button then slide/unlock to get to my text. Needs to be an option to keep it on for longer (10 seconds).

Anyways, my main concern with this phone is the 4 Soft Keys below the Samsung logo. I will address my issues/concerns/questions in the following list:
--How bright are your soft keys when backlit? (In comparison to other Captivates or other Android devices)
--Mine seem to have a slight yellow/brownish tint to them. Anybody have pure white, or anything different?
--The Home button: is your roof slightly different sizes when comparing the left to right. (Yes, I am aware this is nit-picky. not worried or bothered, just curious)
--Finally, my responsiveness on any of the 4 buttons is spotty at times. Especially once pressed when they are no longer lit. Have many others experienced this, and if so, which button(s) in particular give you trouble?
I hate soft keys. They're hard to see. It's hard to know whether I pressed them. I often press them accidentally. They add absolutely nothing to the phone. In short, soft keys suck.

I can remap my keys manually, but I cannot map them to open an application.
With Gravity Box Module, I can map the applications to launch on a double press or a long press.
Here is what I want to do with a single tap.
[MENU SOFT KEY] [HOME KEY] [BACK SOFT KEY]
Open Phone Open search Open Camera
Is there an xposed module for this?

So I never upgraded to the new version of launcher pro and just about ten minutes ago I hit my home button and it automatically takes me to launcherpro.com and says that my current version is expired and to download the new one. Problem is I can't get to the market because my home button doesn't work. So all that works is my browser, 4 physical buttons, and I can pull down my notification bar. So I really need to figure out a way to get to the market or switch to touch wiz.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the Samsung captivate and it usually has no problems connecting to WiFi networks but it can't connect to my home network. It recognizes the network but I can't use send/receive any data. My two laptops have no problem connecting to my network but I can't get my phone to. Additionally, my Wii has the same problem. It recognizes the network but can't do anything. Its probably a router problem but their support was useless, so I thought I would try here.

Even if I use a wallpaper with the correct screen resolution(800 x 480), it still never displays correct on the screen. It seems to always "zoom in".Any idea?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had wifi in my house for years. As I type these devices are connected: ps3, desktop, laptop, wife's iphone. Everything works fine. I walked in the house with my Captivate and it can't obtain an IP address. The password is right. It gets to "Obtaining IP address" but then it says "Unsuccessful." I have never ever had a device issue connecting to my wifi. Numerous family/friend phones have connected without a glitch. Any ideas?

There is a big pretty button on the left that has a green dot with a phone icon that you would think would answer it but it doesn't. Is there a setting somewhere, or a fix for this? Red button on the right with the phone icon hangs up, so you would think the green button would answer.
