Recently I have been having trouble getting a connection at my house. WiFi will work but not the Att internet. I also have had trouble sending and receiving picture messages, no master where I'm at.

I'm a complete newbie to all things android and mobile internet so please help and humor me.Just got my galaxy s yesterday-absolutely fantastic phone, really pleased with it.Two perhaps dumb questions if anyone can help please?
1. How do you tell if you are using your wifi connection or connecting through your mobile internet?
2. Is there a way of choosing which one you want to use? Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks
anyone else having this problem? using 2.1 under caulkin's kernel. it seems like I can kind of overload the phone doing too much and the mobile network connection on my phone will disappear completely. this is while downloading something that may download too fast, sometimes it happens loading .GIF images too. I'll have to restart the phone to get the internet back. this happens no matter if I'm using wireless, USB or bluetooth tethering.

Actually the only problem I have had is sending and receiving picture messages. Anyone know what may cause this? The phone says its connected and full strength signal also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero the other day and am very very happy with it. The only problem is that I cannot connect to the internet through "Mobile Network". I am on a "3" contract and I am able to access "my 3" which is where I can look at my account, look at my last bill, check my usage, etc. I can also connect to 3 - Home - that loads fine. But any other website (google, bbc, facebook, etc.) will not load - it just times out after a while.
It seams obvious to me that this is an issue with my account on 3. I don't know how many hours I've been on the phone to these guys. I have gone through all the settings with them, more than twice - replaced my SIM card and tried my SIM in another phone. So Three are now looking into it and have passed my issue onto the network's team, now they said that it may take up to 21 days for someone to get back to me!
Currently using launcherpro as default but having a little problem with my data connection. Do you guys leave mobile internet on then use a data connection toggle like on switch pro to enable disable as and when you like? Or do you use a toggle like curvefish apn to rename and automatically connect to the network? Or do you turn it on and off via settings or the power button as and when you need it? Bit lost on the subject to be honest. Also when I go and turn mobile internet on in the settings under it it says something like connect to mobile internet when WiFi is unavailable. Is this the default setting or can it be changed to only connect when I want it to?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI will be traveling and would like to connect my Galaxy S to by Laptop to use it as a Internet connection.Galaxy S ==> Laptop (wired) ==> Internet..I've searched a bit but so far only found out how to use my phone as a Internet gateway but not the other way around. The reason is that I don't want to incur expensive roaming changes on my data plan since my laptop is connected at my office.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 XXLPQ.It's rooted and now has CM9 installed.Unfortunately for some bizarre reason I have no internet connection. I've installed a different modem and it hasn't fixed the issue. APN settings are correct (I've spoken to my network). Sometimes it works absolutely fine then after a few moments it just won't load anything and I get a 'No internet connection' warning. Apps won't work either due to no connection. However I do have a 'H' and sometimes '3G' next to the signal bars. WiFi is working fine. Have full signal.. I've started from scratch and wiped everything several times and re-flashed xxLPQ but still nothing.

I want to confirm my fix, that popping in an active T-mobile sim card with data plan, will allow an unlocked Captivate to get a 3G signal. No software or root required, it is actually very easy. However, Samsung Galaxy S's bluetooth doesn't seem to be able to recognize this. i.e., Galaxy S doesn't have a network profile, due to which it always connects to my Laptop for headset service. For example when I am on the mobile internet network, de standard Internet browser does not work. It just displays a white page whatever I'm trying to load.Other programs say there is no internet connection avaible or just don't respond.
However there are 2 programs that d� work. Opera Mini and eBuddy can work with Wi-Fi and 3G. Other Apps like to check if it's gonna rain, or a News RSS viewer etcetera does not work.They only do with Wi-Fi.I have no clue what to search for and also no idea if it's my mobile phone or my provider(it's named 'Hi', it's dutch).
When I connect my Captivate to a PC, the phone says connected and at the top of the screen it says "MTU Application." I can't use the phone while it's plugged in. I've tried all the buttons/keys but no dice. It just stays on the same screen until I disconnect it form the PC. When I launch an app, then plug it into the PC the app will continue running but as soon as I go back to the home screen, it enters that mode again. how to get out of that mode when connected to the PC?

View 6 Replies View RelatedRight basically you can find the UK T mobile internet settings on the T mobile website. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having 3G issues on my captivate for a while. I can browse the web just fine and email, text, mms all fine. But downloading apps or things that need continuous internet download (i.e. speed test) will start then stop very slowly. The 3G window in the status bar will then flash occasionally but primarily stay unlit. I've hoped that it would continue to download, but after leaving my phone with the screen off for over an hour with an app downloading (only 2mb) gone from 20kb downloaded to 50kb and my battery went from 80 to 30. This happens for every app I attempt to download over 3G (wifi is perfectly fine) no matter what the size. Any idea why it seems to put the download into the background. I'm currently running cognition mod v2.3b2. This has happened on all versions of cognition I've had. I'm pretty sure it happened while I had stock 2.1 also.

If I press the cube button it goes to cube and then I'm able to navigate around to internet and other media features but it refuses to load up the home screen. Is there anything I can do without having to do a hard reset. I don't want to reload all my apps over again.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 3 email accounts on my Captivate, 2 gmail and My purdue email account. I can send and receive through both the gmail accounts but the Purdue one will not send no matter what settings I try. According to the school the outgoing settings need to be

I have tried TSL, SSL (both regular and accept all certs) login and no login and a few other settings. Done 2 battery pulls and re composing the message countless times. It just stays in my outbox. WiFi on and off. When I go into the outbox, I press on the "Send outgoing messages button" and it blinks like I pressed it, but it doesn't immediately try to send the email, have to wait another 2-4 minutes before it decides it wants to try and connect to the server. When it does finally try to send the email it tries for about 30 seconds then comes back with "connection error" and gives up. Also none of my email accounts will automatically check for email like I have them set to do. I have them set to check every 5 minutes and it seems like some check every 4 hours and others will only manually check. Its inconsistent at best.
The email issues for this phone are really making me regret the purchase.
So I installed Kies and not only am I unable to have the phone recognized in Kies, but it is no longer recognized using mass storage mode either. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and this is already the second time I'm having a problem with the phone being recognized over USB. I have all the drivers installed. Is there some fix for this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was running the JI6 2.2 with cognition beta5.5 and was attempting to update however I needed to swap kernels since the current kernel didn't verify signatures. I was using vmware on a mac and i started it but then continued to use the mac side however the computer disconnected the phone from the windows side and now it is stuck showing an image of a phone next to a computer with a triangle with a ! in it between the two. Pressing all hardware buttons does nothing but black the screen and go back to the same screen. I've taken out the battery, sim, unplugged the cord, everything. Can't get back into download mode to redo the kernal swap. It's definitely connected to a valid, and working, usb port and i am now on windows itself instead of vmware. What do I do?
