Is there a was to have the lady read out my text messages? All she says is..."new message from (persons name)" I want her to read out everything in the text message. My old phone the black jack 2 used to do that. Also is it possible to change the ladies voice in navigation?

View 24 Replies View Relatedwhen I first got it I noticed that I had home screens on both the left and right of the center screen now it seems my "home" screen can only be on the right. So if I hit the home button it scrolls all the way to the right screen. btw I was an avid iphone supporter but have converted so I'm also a noob to the Android scene but so far I regret making this decision so late in the game!!

On my new captivate the turn off very quickly. They do light up after I've pressed one but I'd like to be able to hit the key first off.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced.There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background,listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

I believe I want the Fascinate but this issue with Google Maps navigation is an issue since turn-by-turn navigation is a big feature for me. Does Bing Maps also offer turn-by-turn navigation as well? Is it voice assisted? Personally I don't care if it's Bing or Google but I don't want the Verizon one since it will require a monthly fee. As long as Bing Maps offers the same functionality as Google Maps, I'm fine.

In the marketplace I saw a cool windows 7 theme but it said...(the app is by "diceman4") I need another app from the market but when I look for that app I can't find it. But I don't use it, have no reason to use it, and it takes up memory. I've been to the (lack of) settings and can't find anything.I am rooted, but not familiar enough with it to know how to remove the application manually.Using a task killer works for a few minutes, but it takes less than 5 minutes to return on its own.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright, so its day 3 of my time with the captivate... so far so good. coming from my iPhone 2g, I will say the device is amazingly fast by comparison... Also, I have been able to make and receive calls from my office and my in-laws house. two places that had been frustrating dead-zones before. So I am happy. Now, I'm switching over to Google Voice for my SMS, since its free, usable on desktop, etc.I am also using LauncherPro as my Launcher.I am not rooted and don't really plan on rooting.A couple Questions:
- I LOVE the puzzle-piece unlock when there is a Text waiting, is there any way to have this become the standard unlock screen?
- Or, alternatively, can I at least get it to work for texts waiting on google voice? Any way to expand the puzzle functions to include email?
- Is there a good Google Talk widget?

I finally got GV visual voicemail working using my carrier number as my GV number. it took 2 days of frustration.now, from what I understand, i should be able to use GV to send text/SMS messages.is that true?when i launch GV app, i don't have any options to compose messages. how is that supposed to work?

It does some of the same things that the Google one apparently does (no setting alarms, though, too bad).

Do I need to de-activate google voice on my voice mail then get the AT&T messages, then re-activate the google voice on my voice mail?

I read a few places that you can't use voice command/control when the phone is on bluetooth. Has there been any change to this since it was first released?
My car stereo is equipped to use a phone via bluetooth, with a microphone mounted by the rear view mirror. I live for this at times, but voice dialing would be 10x more helpful than scrolling through contacts on the stereo screen.
Also, I'd love to know if you can legitimately get visual voicemail without paying a monthly fee? At least for now, I want to keep the phone legit and not mess with warranty, etc.
I'm obviously asking for a brand new phone - as of right now, not "well, when it was released x, y, z" as I think sometimes things change quickly with phones.

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I'm on my #3 Captivate now.. and I need to get some other people's experience on these items. First off, my #1 Captivate would get hot while on voice call (lets say 15min), the #2 phone would NOT get hot even after a 30min call. The #2 phone also had the longest lasting battery of the 3 as well. But the phone could not see ANY satellites so back it went. #3 phone - I'm not having the best experience with - I downloaded the BatStat widget to monitor temp and battery percentage.. So I dialed my wife's phone with the battery at 35%, and temp at 36 degrees Am I in the same boat as others with these two issues combined? I will most likely return the phone again tomorrow.
