Quick question about a nandroid backup. My wife just let me root her eris (I know this is the Droid forum, I have a Droid and have learned a lot from here). Ok I cut up a few different ROM's (some Eris and some Droid) and got it working on her phone. I made a nandroid backup, if someone else was to use the nandroid on their phone will there phone ring when someone calls her number?

my Droid X is doing something completely unacceptable.It misses calls.There's no ring, no missed call indicator, just suddenly a voicemail indicator pops up to tell me that someone left a voice message.Sometimes it only happens once, and will receive the next call without a problem.Sometimes it'll do it three or four calls in a row.I've already talked to Verizon about it, and they've gone through the script. Before I call to yell at them until they replace the phone with one that works, I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with the problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedStill debating on which phone to buy. With the droid x the major concern is soft volume (some phones seem softer than others); rumors of over heating and wifi issues.
Is there a known hack to fix the volume issue; or has Motorola ack the issue and have publically indicated a fix is in the works? Next weekend is no-tax weekend (in Ma) so I might try to pick a phone up then...
I'm pretty sure the wifi issue is a firmware problem (shame on moto for using an encrypted boot loader and having bugs like this one); not sure if overheating is limited to a few phones or is a design issue.
Anyways please add comments (negative and positive) relative to alternatives (samsung s and evo are major contenders). With the samsung the major negative is it pauses now and then and also have soft volume (there is a fix for the gps issue); for evo the major negative is +$10 and poor battery life (this phone is nice and loud) also the display is a bit dimmer than the droid x (an issue for outdoor usage).
When I make a call there is a short, odd ring-tone that occurs just after I press Dial and before the normal ringing sound begins to indicate the call is going through.
It's about 1/2 second long, can be quite loud sometimes, and is kind of high-pitched....sorry, it's hard to describe. The tone modulates up and down quite fast - da-dum-da-dum-dum (if you can imagine).
I tried re-programming the phone, and also updating roaming, and it's still there every time I make a call. I haven't made any changes to call settings to speak of...never had this on my D1.
I have had my Droid Incredible for about two months now. I was really one of the lucky ones!! I usually can fix problems by myself, because I am skilled in Android, but this one I have to turn to my friends in the Android community and ask for some assistance. Next, the phone will randomly change my ringtone. Next, the Sense clock/weather widget displays a location that I don't even live in, and sometimes it will show just a number. How I can fix this, without rooting (waiting for official Froyo).

I don't even have the vibe turned on, but still it vibes, and does NOT ring. I'd like the vibe & ring (both) option. But would be happy with just the ring too.or have the choice to change when I want.I used to have a very old MOTO Razr, which have PROFILE setting for: Meeting, Outdoor, Silent, Vibe, Normal, etc. I'm surprised The Hi-tech Droid X has nothing like that.

I do get vibrate, but no sound. Rings don't work with standard system ringtones, my music, ringdroid ringtones. All I get is vibrate.On the other hand, notification tones are working perfectly fine (from anywhere).

I have to send my dead phone back once I get the new one, and am concerned about the fact that it's rooted running Froyo. I'd like to restore the nandroid backup I made of stock 2.1. Can somebody give me advice on how to do this with a dead screen? Perhaps from the command line on my computer via USB, or perhaps the key strokes to do it in nandroid so I can replicate it by feel?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe Eris has been a good phone for me except the mentioned issues. The fix the worked for me was to remove the appollo software task manager. It kept closing something I xouldnt see and caused me issue. I went from 5 resets a day to 5 days and no reset. I now use task manager 1.11.9 with 0 issues.

It allows you to easily download music, photos, and more either on your phone or onto your computer from your phone. It also allows you to create ring tones and send them to your phone. Its like itunes for the iphone.

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

I don't remember my DroidX always doing this, but recently after I hang-up from a call it shows the "Call Time XX:XX" in the center of the screen and I can't do anything until it goes away, which is generally 5-8 seconds. Hitting Home, Back, etc does nothing and tapping on the screen or the message also does nothing.Is this a setting I can disable? I can look at the recent calls to get the length of call if I need to see it, so I don't need the dramatic pause to give me this info.

Also, sometimes when someone calls it rings and rings on their end and go to my voice mail, but my phone will not even register that they called. Oh, and it randomly revolted once or twice just sitting there. I am probably going to exchange my phone, but I wanted to see if that is the best course of action.

View 1 Replies View Relatedso we just got the Eris for my gf (I have a rooted droid) and she's loving the phone, but is def a BIG adjustment from the blackberry. The biggest problem that we are having is that the phone will not ring until about the 3rd or 4th ringtone, which by the 6th or so, it goes to VM anyways.... so If I call her (or anyone) I'll hear the calling tone from my end, and on the 4th one or so, finally her phone will ring, but you have about 5 seconds then it goes to voice mail... can anyone help me with this? if it matters, I do have google voice setup with gvoice as the stock vmail... I don't remember if it was doing that before this

I tested it at work and called my phone from my work line and it took about 4 rings until my Eris started to actually ring. Is this normal or do I have an issue?
