I'm new to Droid and the interface but am hoping I'm just missing something obvious. How do I make my DroidX vibrate for text messages but, at the same time, ring for calls? At work, I want to know about calls but texts can typically wait.

I have no idea what I did. My DX will not ring for incoming calls. It will only vibrate. I've set ringtones and nothing happens.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I know how to use electronics, I know how to read manuals, I know how to work settings, etc. I'm not a beginner. However I do need help. My phone doesn't ring audibly. I do get vibrate, but no sound. Rings don't work with standard system ringtones, my music, ringdroid ringtones. All I get is vibrate.On the other hand, notification tones are working perfectly fine (from anywhere).

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Droid never vibrates, ever. No matter if it is set to vibrate only, silent, or max sound. It doesn't vibrate for calls, texts or for anything. I set vibrate on for both, calls and texts - and it never vibrates. I temporarily installed other apps to see if the phone is physically able to vibrate, and it is. I am not sure if I am missing an option, or if there is a software malfunction.

So my deal is, I want to be able to have my phone do everything and vibrate when it's in "vibrate mode" but when I have it set to ringer of any sort, I don't want it to vibrate at all, even during my texts. What can I change to let this work? Right now, I have selected "vibrate also for notifications of SMS." where it'll ring and vibrate. I just want it to ring during "ring mode" and vibrate only during "vibrate mode"

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll I want to do is create a simple "vibrate" profile that turns phone calls and text messages to vibrate. I have the call part but the messages just come in silently with no vibrate. I have the following in the task:
1) Vibrate on Notify: On
2) Vibrate on Ringer: On
3) Silent Mode: Vibrate
I rooted my phone successfully last night and installed MoDaCo.
Everything worked OK. Today I tried Cyanogen and it seemed to work OK. I've tried to install a couple of themes. One worked and one didn't.
I don't know when, but my phone will now not send or receive texts or calls. I still have a 3G data connection (back to MoDaCo) and the internet and Market work fine.
I really don't know what to do. The recovery image "recovery-ra-nexus..." seems to have disappeared from the bootloader. The phone isn't bricked so I guess that there is a way out of this?
SO I've restored my first Nand Backup which is the recovery image ra-nexus-v1.7.0.
It quoted restore complete. I backed up and rebooted. Weird thing is it boots up into Cyanogen ROM!!! And now I have no service, NOTHING!
My first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?

My mom called me like 25 times asking me to look up something, when I FINALLY got the call on the house phone I was able to look it up in maps but unable to call her back at all (was using wifi). My EVDO data services work fine but theres not voice AT ALL. I tried calling my number from like 5 phones nothing, I also reset it turned off the cellular radio and turned it back on nothing. Now for some reason the only time I can receive calls and make calls is when I have it set to 1xRTT only....Idk wtf going on but the one time I needed to use the PHONE on my handset it decided to not work....I had like 3 people try and call me and nothing not very convent.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
So I installed Smoked Glass last v6. night and everything was fine. This morning everything was also fine, sent and received 20-30 texts and no issue. About 5 minutes ago I was trying to send a text and I kept getting a message not sent. So then I tried to make a phone call and I could not make a phone call ether. I can still access the internet though. I have 2-3 bars at all times.
Can this be related to me installing the ROM (nothing went wrong with instillation) I wiped all data, installed rom and then backed up with titanum. I have rebooted my phone a couple of times and nothing changed. I also just tried to make a call and it completely rebooted the phone.
My desire will not always ring the sms ring notifier when i recieve texts, it annoyed me so much that i decided to do a warranty swap, and the new one does the same thing!is this a standard android thing? it seems to me that if i have recieved or sent a text to somebody within 30 minutes, it will not ring, as though it expects me to be hovering over my phone staring at it for a reply, is this a normal issue? and is there a way to fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a problem with my new Samsung galaxy S2 that's stumping.Several times a day, for several minutes at a time, I'm unable or send or revive text messages. During this ~5 min window I am also unable to make or receive calls. Outgoing texts will time out and outgoing call just stay at "dialing" and then time out. The issue resolves itself after a few minutes.
NOTES:
• This started when I switched to an iPhone on Sprint from my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. Thinking it was the iPhone issue, I switched to a Galaxy SII... which does the exact same thing.
• I have signal bars the whole time
• my girlfriend, who shares the cell plan and my house never has this issue (she has an Evolution 4g)
• tried updating the PRL, profile and even had Sprint reset my MSID#.
• happened on stock EK02 ROM, and rooted EL29 roms.
Can this phone vibrate and ring at the same time? unlike palm where its only one or the other.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is the only phone that it's ever happened to. Since I got the Droid, I've been missing calls. Not like I have missed calls. The only calls that are okay are the ones that I make. Everyone is telling me that when they call me it rings about 3 times and then just hangs up. Like I ignored it but didn't go to vmail. However, none of these calls are going through at ALL so I'm not ignoring the calls.
Also, everyone is texting me saying that I never texted them back when I know I did.
Just wanted to refresh for those that arent aware of this coming merger.

is it possible to make unread emails,texts, missed calls etc appear in lock screen? Right now I get the light flashing and need to unlock the phone, open notifications and see what I missed from there

A few calls are going through but almost ALL are being disconnected back to the previous/home screen after one or two rings -- INCLUDING, now, *611 and *228. Called tech services this morning and am now on hold (15 min. so far!), from a land line. Texts from my family have not shown up, since yesterday and this morning. Did a soft reset this morning.

I have AT&T now, so I don't really know how it works for Verizon and/or if there is a way to do this with the DX.
I just got this app for my x and fascinate. it's amazing. when connected to wifi, my computer notifies me of my texts, calls, low battery, etc. it is great when i am working, and i even love it when i am at home, as my entertainment center is controlled by a PC. check it out. best app all week. i am certain this belongs in another part of the forum, but i really only browse the x and fascinate sections, and i know a lot of you just stay around here too, and i thought you all might find it really useful.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I make a call there is a short, odd ring-tone that occurs just after I press Dial and before the normal ringing sound begins to indicate the call is going through.
It's about 1/2 second long, can be quite loud sometimes, and is kind of high-pitched....sorry, it's hard to describe. The tone modulates up and down quite fast - da-dum-da-dum-dum (if you can imagine).
I tried re-programming the phone, and also updating roaming, and it's still there every time I make a call. I haven't made any changes to call settings to speak of...never had this on my D1.
