The Eris has been a good phone for me except the mentioned issues. The fix the worked for me was to remove the appollo software task manager. It kept closing something I xouldnt see and caused me issue. I went from 5 resets a day to 5 days and no reset. I now use task manager 1.11.9 with 0 issues.

Before eris, i had a bb 8330 curve. now, i love my eris, but i hate the vibrate/silent thing. i'd like to be able to set things up the way i had them on my curve with the profiles...sms/mms buzz once, phone calls buzz 3 times, or some things silent others buzz, etc. and no, i dont capitalize. deal with it, grammar-nazis, i iz lernt gud.

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Desire and I managed to break the LCD. I had the LCD and touchscreen replaced (don't ask long story) and now I have the following issue: When I make a call and even before I lift the phone to my ear the screen goes blank. None of the buttons work but the call is fine - I can be heard/hear the other person. When the other person ends the call the phone bips to tell me the call is over, but the screen stays blank. I can re-activate the screen by receiving a missed call - ie calling my phone and then hanging up re-activates the screen. In addition, when my phone rings the screen is fine, but as soon as I answer the call and lift the phone to my ear the screen goes off as before. The only other way to bring the screen back is to remove the battery. Whilst the screen is blank I loose all touch-screen capability too. Everything else on the phone works perfectly, sync to email, text, GPS, camera, internet etc all not a problem.

Quick question about a nandroid backup. My wife just let me root her eris (I know this is the Droid forum, I have a Droid and have learned a lot from here). Ok I cut up a few different ROM's (some Eris and some Droid) and got it working on her phone. I made a nandroid backup, if someone else was to use the nandroid on their phone will there phone ring when someone calls her number?
View 11 Replies View Relatedmy Droid X is doing something completely unacceptable.It misses calls.There's no ring, no missed call indicator, just suddenly a voicemail indicator pops up to tell me that someone left a voice message.Sometimes it only happens once, and will receive the next call without a problem.Sometimes it'll do it three or four calls in a row.I've already talked to Verizon about it, and they've gone through the script. Is there a known hack to fix the volume issue; or has Motorola ack the issue and have publically indicated a fix is in the works? Next weekend is no-tax weekend (in Ma) so I might try to pick a phone up then...
I'm pretty sure the wifi issue is a firmware problem (shame on moto for using an encrypted boot loader and having bugs like this one); not sure if overheating is limited to a few phones or is a design issue.
Anyways please add comments (negative and positive) relative to alternatives (samsung s and evo are major contenders). With the samsung the major negative is it pauses now and then and also have soft volume (there is a fix for the gps issue); for evo the major negative is +$10 and poor battery life (this phone is nice and loud) also the display is a bit dimmer than the droid x (an issue for outdoor usage).
When I'm on a call and a 2nd call comes in, my phone doesn't ring or anything. Is there anyway to change this so that I know when I have a call waiting without having to look at the screen (which is usually pressed up against my ear)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMost people seem to want to be able to lock their screen while on a call (using bluetooth headsets mostly), and I'd prefer it didn't go to lock while on a call. I just find it annoying when I've been talking for a few seconds or minutes, then take the phone away from my head, having to wake up the screen by swiping my thumb across the light sensor, set the unlock pattern, hit the home button to leave the dialer app, find the app I need to look something up in while talking, etc. And sometimes it doesn't go to lock at all! Does anyone know why/when the screen goes to lock during a call only? The rest of the time, it takes the full 10 minutes I have it set for before dimming out and shutting down. But usually, during a call, it seems like only a few seconds.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I make a call there is a short, odd ring-tone that occurs just after I press Dial and before the normal ringing sound begins to indicate the call is going through.
It's about 1/2 second long, can be quite loud sometimes, and is kind of high-pitched....sorry, it's hard to describe. The tone modulates up and down quite fast - da-dum-da-dum-dum (if you can imagine).
I tried re-programming the phone, and also updating roaming, and it's still there every time I make a call. I haven't made any changes to call settings to speak of...never had this on my D1.
I don't really know if my phone has it, but I'm intrigued by how many people here have this problem. What exactly happens?

When on a call, the proximity sensor doesnt work, so the screen goes black. And when i press the end call button to turn the screen back on it just ends the call. Is this normal? Or a known issue?
It took 2 days to be shipped but I got it today, a refurb after calling VZW 611 Tech. Line. I had the silent bug issue. Right away the phone was ready for the 2.1 OTA update. I updated, and so far so good, no silent bug issues, and the phone seems to be operating with no issues so far.
