i just got the moto droid and cannot figure out how to set different sounds for texts and email alerts if anyone knows how to do this or if you can do this.

I just got my Aria! I am so Loving it! I have a, What I would think to be Simple Question, When I am on the Phone and Receive a Message / Email I hear it in the Phone.

I don't care when I get an email but I have missed several texts because the alert tone is the same and I just ignored it thinking it was more unimportant email.

The problem is that if I go back into the settings it defaults back to the "Droid" tone and does not keep the one I want.

Is it possible to use your own sounds for incoming messages and alerts?I know you can assign individual ring tones to people in your address book and change the default ring tone, however I would like to know if there is a way to do that for incoming message sounds and so on.Any help or insight?Also Crossposted due to their being 2 areas of interest
Just wondering if there is a way to have a different sound for each alert, similar to a blackberry. Eg. A sound for alarm, text, email, each different. I don't want my calendar using my quiet sms ringtone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there such as APP which I could run to "re-reset" the sounds I set. Now and then the sounds are reset to the default and it is annoying. When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying. I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere. View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

I am coming from BB Storm 2 where i could have every email, sms, mms, whatever from any contact display a different LED light/pattern and make a different noise depending on who it is coming from. Here on my Droid X i have one alert noise, for EVERYTHING. And no LED tweaking.
I DL'd Blink...which was useless, didn't display 3/4 of the colors it was supposed to do. Uninstalled. I had heard HandcentSMS lets you customize stuff...kinda. I could finally make my SMS make a differnt noise then any other alert. But still can't customize it per person/sender. I could tweak the LED thankfully. But this only affects SMS. Not email. And it too didn't display all the colors it had listed
Ringdroid lets me make every caller have a differnt ringtone (cool), and i can save alerts, but not custom per person. Are there any apps out there that let me customize alerts for email/mms/sms and so forth. So i can have it blink the LED a differnt color from certain people and make a noise when said email, mms, sms is from certain people? Or am i just SOL and need to deal with the fact that i can't do that on a Droid?
In so many ways this phone is lightyears ahead of my Storm 2...but in so many other ways it is far more basic and simplistic in many things and doesn't allow the customization.
I have stopped receiving email and message alerts. No sound, no vibrate, no icon on the status bar at the top of the phone, no blinking green light when the screen is off. It is as if the phone does not know I have email or messages.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the Advanced Task Killer because there wasn't a logout function for the Yahoo Mail App and the alerts were going like crazy; however, I needed the alerts for my work email due to oncall. However, now I'm not getting any sound alerts or vibrate, etc for my new email messages and this is very important.
Does anyone know how I can enable the alerts and get them working again. I have uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and powered off the phone, but the email alert notifications unfortunately are still not working.
i know some new sites have email alerts. does AC offer any type of alert system? so id get all new headlines in email or text ect? if not maybe some1 knows of an app that can handle this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an application that allows SMS alerts for each user. I've tried handcent and I like it but the stock messaging app on the DX is very nice. If I could set specific alerts it would be perfect. I like to have a few people alert me via sound then the rest just silent. I'm sure there's a way to do it I just haven't found the right app yet.

Whenever I put my phone on "vibrate", it kicks my phone into silent mode for all other alerts, so I never know when I get text msgs or chats. If I go into the settings and uncheck the Silent Mode, it takes my phone's ringer off of vibrate mode. So.... what I'm looking to have happen is to have my phone on vibrate only, and recieve my other alerts as vibrate as well.

The phone will vibrate for calls... Rooted, running the latest Lithium Mod ROM with Chevy's ulv 1.2 kernel. I have no other issues with the phone and the ROM/kernel configuration have worked very well!
