I noticed that when I get a text on my droid x I only get 1 alert ring.Can I set that to 2 rings?If yes, where do i go?Ive looked around and cant seem to find it.

I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.
Whenever someone text messages me I hear "Droi Droid". It is alerting me twice for one message. I think it could be because I have Handcent, and both Handcent and the default messenger are alerting me. Anyone know how I disable the default messenger?

I have checked all the setting and vibrate is checked everwhere and the phone still does not vibrate when a new alert come in. any thoughts?

The phone will vibrate for calls... Rooted, running the latest Lithium Mod ROM with Chevy's ulv 1.2 kernel. I have no other issues with the phone and the ROM/kernel configuration have worked very well!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to have a different alert tone or ringtone for different types of notifications: a different one for texts, for emails, and for voicemails. I have been able to do this with just about every other type of phone I've had in the past; I can't understand why these more expensive, more technologically advanced phones dump them all into one category ("Set as notification tone"). Am I missing something here? Is there an app I need or a setting on the phone I'm not seeing?
Just to be clear, I care less about whether I can use customized ringtones for these alerts than just being able to distinguish between when I'm getting a text or an email. And if it helps to know, I have a Samsung Moment and my husband has a HTC Hero, and we are both having this problem.
How do I set the calendar alerts to vibrate? I don't want it to ring or make sounds, I want it to vibrate. Also the same for gmail. How do I make it vibrate when I receive an email?

Because when I get a new text, Hand cent will post an icon in the notification panel and there will always be another notification icon next to it, I think it is the stock app doing that. Now I have set Hand cent as my default messaging app and I am running the 2.1 v3 leak.

Last time it rang is when I was playing with settings to have it stop ringing when I place if face down. I've undone that facedown setting. Ringer is ON. I've cycled it on/vibrate/off and back ON. Silent Mode is OFF Phone Vibrate is OFF Audible touch tones is ON and I hear tones on phone keypad Volume is Audible.I can select and listen to my ringer tune.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOften my Droid will only ring one time for an incoming call. If the call is left unanswered it is auto-answered after a "normal" amount of time. But I can watch the screen of my quiet Droid after the initial ring and count the seconds until it's auto-answered with my recorded greeting. It should be ringing during that time.
It seems to do this randomly, though it's really tough to troubleshoot and tell definitively. I sat for two hours with my wife's Droid, my laptop phone program and our regular house phone and got consistently inconsistent results!
I've yanked every phone call specific app and reinstalled them systematically, rebooting each time. I've taken a look at system apps to see if there is a conflict. I've also looked at (and pulled & reinstalled) audio setting apps looking for a conflict.
I've changed ring tones to MP3 clips, and while they do play in their entirety, they usually repeat and they are not. I've even done a hack to the system/build.prop file that changes the delay before the phone rings.
I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?
I've looked for an answer through out the forum but did not find one if I overlooked it sorry. But the problem I have is even when I set my phone to silent or vibrate it still has and audible ring. Email and other notifications are silent but the ring isnt. I use home++ and stock home and it does the same thing. I can set it to silent using the stock silent or using ringer widgets. I will try anything, Ive had way to many embarrassing moments with Chris Brown playing during quiet time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo when I get an incoming call, my droid-X rings instead of my car stereo. I have the car stereo set to ring, but it does not. So I constantly miss calls in my car to the point where I may as well not even have a bluetooth stereo. In California, we can't talk on the phone and drive so it's killing me that this does not work after investing money into the system.
Never had a problem on my blackberry. Basically if I have the stereo on, I'm not going to hear my phone ringing, I guess I could set it to auto answer (not sure if that works yet either) but I like to see the number from who is calling first on my CD Player's face.

from time to time, when my phone rings the option to answer it is not appearing. even when I unlock the phone there is no option. i don't have any live wallpaper. I wonder if Launcher Pro is causing the problem

If I could set specific alerts it would be perfect. I like to have a few people alert me via sound then the rest just silent. I'm sure there's a way to do it I just haven't found the right app yet.

Whenever I put my phone on "vibrate", it kicks my phone into silent mode for all other alerts, so I never know when I get text msgs or chats. If I go into the settings and uncheck the Silent Mode, it takes my phone's ringer off of vibrate mode. So.... what I'm looking to have happen is to have my phone on vibrate only, and recieve my other alerts as vibrate as well.

Switching over from a storm and with the storm i could set contact alerts for text messages and separate ringtones for when they call with the droid i have found there is only one text message alert and you cannot set individual alerts for text messages.
